Overview:
The German invasion was crushing Russian initial defenses everywhere. After considerable delay, Timoshenko gave the orders to open the “red packets”. The instructions in these cover plans were to be obeyed. The 42nd Rifle Division’s independent Reconnaissance Battalions with armored cars and a motorcycle company, accompanied by the 393rd Independent AA Battalion, were to proceed to Zhabinki and take up defensive positions to stem the oncoming German tide. . .Attacker: German (Recce elements of Guderian's Panzer Corps)
Defender: Russian (Brest Fortress covering elements)

2024-04-01 | (A) Ben B | vs | Russians | Russian win | This was my first ASL scenario using AFVs. I played the Germans and tried to focus my defense on the choke points created by the bridges. Russians managed to destroy all 3 German AFVs by turn four with only 3 losses of their own.
2024-02-24 | (A) Bob McKenna | vs | Lou Padilla | Russian win | Russian moto infantry entered quickly and attacked dismounted German infantry. Once the infantry was broken, the moto infantry entered second story of the large building and hit the Germab halfback with fire. The German tank crossed the bridge and exchanged fire with Russians who rolled a 2 and flamed the Panzer 3. The last German vehicle with the armor leader manahed to break some Russian infantry who rputed and lead the surviving Germans info a trap.. The armor leader tried to stop the platoon of Russian trucks but was destroyed coming around the stone building. Quick work.for Russian. Good plan executed perfectly with 3 or 4 turns. Great job, Comrade Padilla-nov.
2024-01-08 | (A) Andreas R | vs | Jenny | German win
2021-08-10 | (A) Tommi Lehtinen | vs | M T | German win | I drove the PSW 231 to I8 to cover the area of bridge R7. Worked better than expected. Due high ROF I managed to destroy two Russian BA-8 from one platoon. The third one broke its main gun and was recalled. The Russian IAG-10 was immobilized by the ATR shot from H4. The slug fest at around the H2 bridge left one BA-8 destroyed and other immobilized in exchange of the German halftrack being destroyed and the PZ III shocked. After that the Russians conceded. They did not have enough units capable of exiting the required VP off the map and no way to prevent Germans exiting the heroic PSW 231, thus Russians were not anymore able to achieve either of the two Russian victory conditions. Good scenario to lean the armor movement, but not very exiting from a tactical or replay point of view. Due the natural choke points of the two bridges the Russians have limited options. The game will probably be determined on relatively few dice rolls around the bridges. If the Germans get a decent ROF and manage to kill couple of Russian BA-8 before they destroy any German vehicles it will be hard for Russian to win. If on the other hand, Germans fail to do that and Russians manage to score a hit with their 45L it is game over for German
2021-08-10 | (D) M T | vs | T.L. | German win | I managed to destroy the SPW 251 and put a Stun on the PzIII, while losing all of my BAs - one was immobilized and another Recalled though, after losing his MA. After comteplating the VCs we concluded that the remaining German Achtrad could deny the Russians a win just by exiting the board. Red Packets feels very much like an exercise in learning different modes of vehicle movement - you have fully tracked, half-tracked, AC, truck and motorcycle movement here, with a low unit count. I don't see a great replay potential here, the Russian choices of avenues of approach are quite limited. Nevertheless, always interesting to play an early war armored engagement. High ROF and Multiple HIt possibility with the Germans, high TK numbers with the Russian 45s and the 76.
2021-01-17 | (D) Tripp Killin | vs | Phil Watkins | Russian win (VASL Log) | I took my time as the Russians, hoping to compress Germans to board edge and then rush with both infantry and all vehicles in the final half of the game. Phil designed a nice defensive position, and I was eventually forced to throw myself upon it. He didn't roll as well as he could have. Fewer shots, a few bounces, and some effective return fire knocked out 2 of the 3 German AFVs heading into Turn 7. At start of Turn 8, German AC was last counter on the board, he attempted to pop smoke and run as I no longer had the Exit VP available. I scored a critical hit with one of the last two BA-6's to kill the AC and win the game. A very fun little scenario that is nice for learning armor rules.
2020-12-25 | (D) Vilis Pavulans | vs | Omid Mashregh-Zamini | Russian win | Much closer call this time when my opponent was getting the concept of AFVs defending. managed to kill all german AFVs on turn 8 by rushing all my infantry into CC with the HT and forcing it to defend and thereby saving one crucial russian BA-6 which later could destroy the HT. Then in the end a critical hit destroyed the last german AFV.
2020-12-20 | (A) Vilis Pavulans | vs | Omid Mashregh-Zamini | German win | Practicing AFVs. Learning the hard way. Turn three most russian AFVs were killed or immobilised and the russians retreated back to safety. Now time to switch sides.
2019-05-05 | (A) Vic Lauterbach | vs | Not recorded | German win | Quick classic played as tutorial on AFV rules - no notes kept except date played so details lost
2018-02-09 | (D) Tom Kearney | vs | Eric Alleman | German win
2018-01-27 | (A) Allen Evenson | vs | Greg Barsness | Russian win | Malf'd MA 3 times. Ended up recalling one tabkh, 2nd on a 12 MC check. Lost 3rd Vehicle Turn 6. Fun game and good for armor practice.
2018-01-27 | (A) David Garvin | vs | Ian Tuten | German win
2017-06-08 | (D) Jeff B | vs | Bronson Barnhart | Russian win | This one is always a bloodfest. Germans knocked out enough vehicles to make the Russians have to go for the kills. Russians eliminated all the infantry, the AC, and the HT, leaving the Panzer to fend for itself. Immobilized in a highly defensible spot in the north it did just that, taking the truck,a squad, and a couple more ACs down before a CH finally finished it off.

2015-07-08 | (D) Andy Beaton | vs | Jonathan Kay | Russian win | Russian zerg rush almost failed until a UK armoured car came to life and killed the PzIII. Russians win by killing all German vehicles without enough exit points left.
2015-04-25 | (A) Andy Beaton | vs | Richard Hooks | German win | Russians killed everything but the halftrack, but couldn't muster enough exit points or kill the fleeing halftrack in time. Fun scenario.
2015-02-07 | (A) Seumas Hoskins | vs | German win
2015-01-13 | (A) Randy Strader | vs | Jamey Cribbs | Russian win | A chess match which came down to a bum-rush of the exit, wherein my Germans didn't get rate once. Good fun though. I like the "Achtrad."
2014-01-13 | (D) Jeff B | vs | Christopher McDonald | Russian win | Almost no destruction throughout most of the game and then the shit hit the fan when the Russians made a desperate push. A triangle around the last German AFV (the halftrack)sealed the deal.
2013-12-22 | (A) Richard Jenulis | vs | Lyle Fisher | German win | Portland
2013-10-19 | (D) Jeff T | vs | Lyle Fisher | Russian win | The second half of our two plays, I came in as the Russians. I moved too far on turn 1, exposing a lead 45L armored car and it was wrecked. Lyle took out 3 of the 5 armored cars, but I surrounded him and got good TK rolls and finished off all three German vehicles for the win. Not as easy as the first game for the Russians, but another Russian win.
2013-10-19 | (A) Jeff T | vs | Lyle Fisher | Russian win | We decided to play this one for the October Berserk Commissars meeting. This was the first game. Like in Puma Prowls, I rushed my German vehicles up, risking ESB on one to get hull down behind the stone walls. It didn't matter as a bounding fire critical hit lit up the armored car and the other two German vehicles couldn't hold back the Russian 45Ls. Easy Russian Victory.
2013-10-18 | (D) Jeff B | vs | Mark Stout | German win | In this heavyweight fight there was almost nobody left standing. Two last-ditch CCs ended in defeat for the Russians.
2013-02-07 | (A) Richard Agnew | vs | solo | German win | The Germans were the benifactors of timely low DR's. On the first turn alone, 3 Soviet AFV's were knocked out. The Russian motorcycle troops were cut down by MG fire from the German PzIII before they could dismount and deploy (KIA's, again due to low DR's). End result was that the Russian force was completely annihilated, with not a single German casualty. The Soviets hit the panzers with several frontal shots, but as their luck was poor on this day, each shell clanged harmlessly off the frontal armour. This was my first scenario with vehicles, so I'm sure that plays into the unbalanced result. I'm sure it's not indicative of most games.

2012-04-29 | (D) Martí Cabré | vs | Eloi Soler | Russian win | An excellent scenario with all kind of vehicles: trucks, armored cars, halftracks, motorbikes and, of course, fully trackeds. The scenario is very interesting to understand the different mobility of the different kind of vehicles, as some of them are really slow running off roads and there is platoon movement. I won with the Russians after destroying the three German vehicles, with only two Russian vehicles left. There were malfunctioned MA, abandoned vehicles, wrecks, blazing wrecks, surviving crews trying to scrounge, bikers shot and bailing out, you name it. Really fun!
