Overview:
In 1940, the Norwegian army was a force completely unable to resist the Nazi war machine. Its equipment and training were mediocre. Furthermore, the German aggression took its High Command by complete surprise; such was the case of Colonel Sundlo, commanding officer in Narvik, who surrendered to General Dietl’s troops without even one shot fired! Nevertheless, throughout the campaign, numerous Norwegians fought the invaders despite an obvious lack of weapons, their arms depots having been captured early on. Their knowledge of the terrain and their ability to move great distances on skis made them very useful, although British commanders did not hesitate to criticize the lack of soldierly skills of their Nordic allies. On 11 may, after they had vainly defended together the village of Hemnesberget on the previous day, the Anglo-Norwegian troops installed in front of Finneid went their separate ways. The British retreated north while the Norwegians attacked Hemnesberget on their own.Attacker: Norwegian (5th Brigade)

2023-07-25 | (A) Pascal Boileau | vs | Xavier Roy | German win | A very good infantry scenario. Norwegian losses were not so heavy at the game end. The issue of the game was decided in the last CCPh and the Germans won with the lowest margin. It starts pretty cool but the tense quickly rises during the gameplay and reaches the climax in the very last turn.
2023-06-18 | (D) Jack Wilson | vs | Craig Renier | German win | Lucky CC DR was the margin of victory. Still, I think this is a tough one for the Norwegians.
2023-06-17 | (A) Craig Renier | vs | Jack Wilson | German win | Withering German fire stymied the initial Norwegian assault and inflicted early casualties. The Norwegians pressed the advance capturing 23 building locations. However, the losses were too heavy. With the entry of the German reinforcements, the Norwegians began a gradual withdrawal in an attempt to minimize further losses. However, the Germans were able to get more K and KIA results. On Turn 6, against 1-2 odds in CC, the Germans eliminated another full Norwegian squad taking the total CVP to 11, winning the game.

2023-05-04 | (D) Steven Cummings | vs | Peter Rogneholt | Norwegian win
2023-03-02 | (D) Simon Staniforth | vs | Mike Davies | German win | We picked this one to play as a friendly at the Heroes UK tourney having seen Dave and Martin play out on Illuminating Rounds. Great infantry only scenario, the Germans had to do some crazy running in their final half turn but just did enough to get the Norwegians down to 15 building Building Locations and steal the win
2023-02-14 | (D) David Ramsey | vs | Martin Barker | German win (VASL Log) | Won on the last turn/last DR with the CVP cap - but a really nice scenario that provided a nice puzzle. As seen on https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RQmeW7pIadA (IR 82)
2023-01-16 | (D) David Garvin | vs | Brent Kerr | Norwegian win | The German light mortars were devastating. Rate Tears meant that the odds caught up and I ended up wiping out his fire base. The Norwegians never really recovered.

2022-06-08 | (A) Dmitry Klyuykov | vs | Fedor Melnikov | Norwegian win | Norwegians rushed to gully to advance to the open and overwhelm the defenders. Germans slowly withdrawn, waiting for the reinforcements, but lucky firefight on T5 sealed the fate of German counterattack.
2022-06-07 | (D) Alexey Kolleganov | vs | Fedor Melnikov | German win (VASL Log)
2022-05-25 | (D) Dmitry Klyuykov | vs | Fedor Melnikov | German win | After several German devastating killing die rolls (several K/KIA, Sniper killed 9-2 leader) Norwegian lost too much force to continue the push.
2022-05-16 | (A) David Garvin | vs | Nick Faryna | German win
2022-05-09 | (A) Dave Mareske | vs | Dennis Dowd | Norwegian win | Nice infantry only scenario that calls for some defense and counter-attack. The Dowd Germans gave up a bit too much ground at first, but held fast in the middle game. As they tried to take back some buildings, they were unable to make a morale check and the Norwegians stayed under the CVP cap easily. Good game!
2022-05-07 | (D) Craig Renier | vs | Mike Stubits | Norwegian win
2022-05-07 | (D) Jason Wert | vs | Paul Washington | Norwegian win
2022-01-31 | (A) Vilis Pavulans | vs | Mark Stout | Norwegian win | Training mission with a pretty new player. Mark ( Germans ) had made a good setup which made the initial turns hard for the Norweigans. Then the weak forces of the initial OB gave way and let the Norweigans capture close to all necessary victory locations. The counterattack from the Germans was a bit careful and focused to the center which gave the Norweigans opportunity to continue their move around the flanks, securing more than enough locations and then the dice broke two key German stacks and the game was over.
2021-12-28 | (A) Will Willow | vs | K. Hannan | German win | Went down to the last CC DR.
2021-11-27 | (A) Steve Gibson | vs | John S | German win | My Norwegians made a strong push on the right, getting three squads into the cluster of buildings into the center of map 22. Accurate Germans fire held them up long enough for German reinforcements to to feed into the fight. I controlled 16 of the required 16 victory locations before the hammer of the German reinforcements came down on the last phase of the game, ending my chances at victory.
2021-07-23 | (D) rene cote | vs | mrosberg | Norwegian win
2021-04-13 | (D) Grant Linneberg | vs | Bruno Javanabal | Norwegian win | I set up my Germans very forward hoping to slow him down. I was only half successful with that. When he did start coming forward with his swarming halflings, I couldn't retreat fast enough. He managed to wipe out my initial force just before my reinforcements arrives. I had a chance to take back enough locations to win, but on the penultimate turn I had a CC with him where I attacked at 2-1 and he defended at 1-4. He ambushed me, I missed my number and he rolled a 3 to take out a squad and wounded leader. Broke the back of my comeback. Fun scenario all the same.
2021-02-01 | (D) Rob MacGinley | vs | Jason Nichols | German win
2021-02-01 | (A) Jason Nichols | vs | Rob MacGinley | German win | Got off to a bad start with my main leader and MMG squad being broken by a massed mortar attack. They were all killed in the subsequent turn. Managed to push into the village and capture about 7 of the required 14 buildings but the German reinforcements made any further gains impossible. Norwegians surrendered on turn 4.
2020-06-18 | (D) Ken Rutkowski | vs | George H | German win
2020-05-16 | (A) Andy Beaton | vs | David Goldman | German win | CASLO 2020
2020-01-04 | (A) David Garvin | vs | Roberto Alesse | German win
2019-10-19 | (D) Richard Jenulis | vs | Brian Yee | German win | Wild West Fest 2019 (round 3). The Norwegians made steady progress, taking the buildings needed. A German SAN dr1 targeted a broken HS behind the lines for the CVP cap to end the game and put me into the final. My first time playing Brian, who is a very fun opponent.
2019-09-28 | (A) Shane Pask | vs | German win | Norwegians started badly with LMG malf on first shot. Then things went downhill. Made it into town on south flank but mad dash on final turn could not get the required number of buildings. Last attempt also put me over the casualty limit.
2019-09-14 | (D) Tony D'Andrea | vs | Brian Pickering | German win | The Germans were reeling. Losing 25 building locations and only amassing one CVP by turn four. However, one opportunistic roll changed the entire game. This one shot brought them six more CVP's and a new hope. The German's were also helped by several boxcars. The last one giving them their tenth CVP and the game. We had fun and the action was good.
2019-04-27 | (D) Jonathan Kapleau | vs | Tyson, Rob | German win
2019-01-13 | (D) Denis Leclair | vs | Bruce Stevenson | Norwegian win | The Norwegians swept around the German front and managed to encircle the initial defending force. By the time the German reinforcements arrived, most of Finneid was under Norwegian control.
2017-06-15 | (D) JP Laurio | vs | Al Nikolov | German win
2017-05-26 | (D) Jason Wert | vs | Gabe Wert | German win | Nice infantry only scenario. Germans won on CVP cap when a Norwegian leader let himself out the door with an ill-timed fate in the last half the final game turn. Great play
2017-05-19 | (D) Richard Jenulis | vs | Doug Rimmer | German win | CASLO (Canadian ASL Open) XXI - May 2017
2017-05-19 | (A) Michael Rodgers | vs | Jim Wirthlin | German win | Jim Wirthlin and I diced for sides. I received the attacking Norwegian. Jim’s hot dice casued many early casualties to my Norwegians, including an 8-0 leader. Although I was able to take 18 building locations, my troops were unable to hold them all against the German counterattack and sniper.
2017-03-25 | (D) Michael Dorosh | vs | Colin Emerson | Norwegian win | Playing as German, had good ROF on MTRs in first turn, but by Turn 3 all at start forces were broken or dead and SWs abandoned. Had the good sense to march my reinforcements directly into the path of an enemy MG and on a 1 KIA Yahtzeed two squads and a leader. Opponents laughter still ringing in my ears as I type this.
2017-03-25 | (A) Colin Emerson | vs | Michael Dorosh | Norwegian win | All infantry scenario, capture buildings and deny German player scoring 10 CVP. About 3 hours to complete.
2017-03-09 | (A) Michael Rodgers | vs | Bruno L'Archeveque | Norwegian win | My Norwegians had taken 19 building locations (with casualties) and the starting Germans were gone. The German counter attack was starting when the sniper took out the only German leader in the factory area. Once a few German units broke, Bruno conceded.
2017-02-27 | (A) Andy Beaton | vs | Curt Schilling | German win | Norwegians hit the CVP cap after the 9-2 boxed an MC and died of wounds on the spot. Small scenarios are vulnerable to the dice that way.
2017-02-11 | (D) Allen Evenson | vs | Steve Buckley | German win
2016-10-08 | (D) Rich Weiley | vs | Dave Wallace | Norwegian win | Octobear 2016
2015-11-19 | (A) Richard Carter | vs | Lee Thorton | Norwegian win | We made a push down the western side of the village and even crossed the stream. German counterattack was not enough.
2015-07-09 | (D) Jeff B | vs | John Barkoviak | German win | The German reinforcements arrived just in time to ensure a see-saw battle for the middle of the board, which mostly came down to the dice gods.
2014-05-24 | (A) Jeff B | vs | John Baker | Norwegian win | The German reinforcements gave a good push, but the Norwegians just had too much of a head start.
2013-12-28 | (D) Jeff B | vs | Terry Johnson | German win | The German reinforcements arrived just in time to secure the big building and hold the Norwegians at bay.
2013-10-30 | (A) Alessandro Demichelis | vs | Nicola Carpentieri | Norwegian win | German has to preserve his force trying to delay the enemy, Norwegian has enough squads and firepower to do the job. Nice scenario.
2012-04-28 | (A) Luis Felip | vs | R | German win
2012-01-02 | (D) Fred Ingram | vs | Are Erlandsen | German win | This was won on the CVP cap. I lucked out at the beginning. The 9-2 kill stack on the hill picked out a hex to punish and it turned out to be my small stack of dummies. That 20 firepower stack with a 9-2 leader could be a real buzz saw ripping through the defense. So I still had 3 squads and 2 HS to hold out till the reinforcements arrived - a real fighting withdrawal - the Germans always being in a position where fire lanes could be placed to prevent a wholesale Norwegian push Are got a little too aggressive on the early turns and I was able to realize 6 VP for units moving in the open. He proceeded to roll up 11 victory buildings. However, we had a protracted 3 turn CC which eventually went my way - losing 2 more squads and this was how the CVP cap was reached.
2011-12-18 | (A) Scott Fischbein | vs | Charles Stevens | German win | Very close game... Germans advanced into a two-hex building previously under Norwegian control as their move of the last turn and Norwegians ended up with only 15 locations controlled (need 16) to win.
2011-09-18 | (D) Jeff T | vs | JVan | Norwegian win | J41 By Ourselves Played the Germans on defense against JVan's stormin' Norwegians. My setup was lacking a bit but I initially put up a decent fighting withdrawal with my meager starting force against his early push. Unfortunately, things unraveled in German turn 2 as my MMG squad failed their morale check (box cars) and the remaining broken half squad was killed by my 8-0 on the subsequent rally phase. The Norwegians swarmed the remaining two full squads and survived the point blank defensive fire only losing a half squad and then breaking the two squads. It was left to a single half squad and the reinforcements to take back enough buildings. They fell just short as the close combats went JVan's way (he took out a full squad with a half-squad and killed another full squad later). A berserk full squad gunned down (KIA) by the Norwegian 9-2 leader and his squad with MMG for a 8 minus 4 shot was the final blow. A desperate German dash to recover 4 buildings on the final turn fell short as the Allied 9-2 pinned the squad to prevent their advance into CC and the others were left without enough units to capture the needed buildings back. Well played by JVan keeping the pressure on and passing the important morale checks throughout. Solid victory for the Norwegians.
2011-09-18 | (A) John Van Natta | vs | Jeff T. | Norwegian win | I enjoyed this one quite a bit. Nice infantry only scenario.
