Previously released as Scenario T, this has been updated: At the end of September, small detachments of Rodimtsev's 13th Guards were sent out to seize buildings on Lenin Square and fortify them. A damaged apartment complex facing Solechnaya Street and overlooking the square was attacked and occupied by Sergeant Jakob Pavlov and his men. Since it sat astride one of the primary German lines of advance, his trongpoint came under frequent attack and bombardment. On October 20, as part of the general German push to complete the capture of Stalingrad, one of the strongest attacks to date was launched on the apartment block.
I crazily moved 2 of my IVF2 to X6 and X7. Not surprisingly, both were knocked out by 45LL, but they did provide some protection for my infantry to push into the Pavlov's House. Fierce CC happened everywhere in the building. When struggling for the location with the 45LL, my 9-2 and 2 squads managed to kill Sergeant Jakob Pavlov and his colleague, which definitely turned the tide! Some bold flanking maneuver also teared Russians defense line apart. In turn 5, Russian play forfeit the game to me.
If next time as German, I'd try to form some kill stacks and better use tanks lol.

Nothing I tried seemed to work. One tank was destroyed by the AT gun with a frontal hit on its third ROF shot for the turn. When I rolled low enough for a MC the Russians also rolled low enough to resist (Damned fanatics!). By the end of turn 6 I only had one squad in the victory building (which broke immediately) and the Russians had only lost 2 half squads (no one broken). Even when their MMG jammed, the manning squad and leader rolled low enough to destroy my late desperate charge.

Pablo knocked out my tanks before they could start helping me out. It's a good scenario to learn to use combined forces.

Again, this was another slugfest. He set up everyone in the VC building and it was just a grind to root everyone out. He reduced my smoke making ability on his turn 1 prep fire by getting a critical hit on one of the tanks. But I was able to lay smoke and was already in the building on my turn 2. Swirling battle up and down the stairwells. I even got my whole force upper level encircled once. It all came down to the last German CC. I had remarked earlier in the day to Dave Goldman, the I had been playing better than usual because I had made a concerted effort over the last year to pay a lot more attention to details. So what do I do in the advance phase ? I move in 3 squads with a 9-2 leader onto his 9-1 leader with a HS. It would be a 4 to 1 down 2 CC (a virtual guarantee). I neglect to move a squad into an adjacent building hex (leaving it vacant). DUH !!!!!! So much for details. That gave Jim 2 chances to get out of the CC and win. One would be to win the ambush and withdraw into that hex for his win. The other would be for me to roll a 12 and then he could withdraw. Luckily for me, neither occurred and he died in cc for the win. A nice close game with a very enjoyable opponent.
