Overview:
After months of anti-partisan operation east of Zagreb, the 1st Light Infantry Parachute Battalion had finally returned to its home barracks in the Zagreb neighborhood of Maksimir. The writing had been on the wall for a while, but word had finally come down that Croatian armed forces should head for Austria to surrender to the Western Allies. On May 6th the battalion left Zagreb as the rearguard of a large, mixed-Axis retreating force headed for Dravograd and Austria. Despite repeated air attacks on the column, the paratroopers stayed together until reaching Celje, halfway to Dravograd. Slovenian partisans had set up blocking positions along the roads to keep the retreating fascists from reaching Austria. Captain Ivan Simek divided the battalion into small groups with orders to infiltrate past Celje and on to Austria. . . .

2013-05-29(A) X von Marwitz vs Martin Mayers Croatian winI had my Croatians set up heavily around the walled enclosure on one flank with one crew+MMG and a squad more in the middle to inhibit Partisan crossboard movement. One 5-3-7 was set up in woods close to the board edge where the Partisan T3 reinforcements can enter so guard my back. The Partisan player surrendered after T1. At first it seemed that I had run into the teeth of his defence and that the flank close to the walled enclosure would be covered (2 FH with 3 counters in each), but luckily these turned out to be dummies. The Croat charged shielded by the Orchards and reached the woods on the flank or adjacent positions with around 19 points worth of infantry and most of the SW. At the same time, one Partisan MMG broke down. The Partisan felt he would not be able to stop me on the way to exit via 36F10. I was VERY surprised to find out, that Partisans DO NOT have reduced MF for woods/buildings unless by SSR, for which there is no provision in this scenario. I rate this scenario strongly pro Croatian as he can select his Schwerpunkt and the Partisan will have to move significant amounts of his OOB long ways just to get near the Croats if they elect to attack from a flank.
2007-01-09(D) Bill Brodie vs Peter Manger Croatian winNot one I enjoyed much.
2006-12-03(D) Fred Ingram vs Dave McLee Croatian win
