Before the outbreak of the war, some French groups questioned why France would go to war with Germany over Poland and "die for Danzig". However, any French reluctance to fight did not prevent the outbreak of the war. In March 1945 the front lines ran through Danzig, and soldiers on both sides literally were dying for control of the city. The Russians formed combined-arms assault groups, comprising flame-thrower tanks, assault guns and infantry. On 27th March, such assault teams of 108th Rifle Division hit the German positions.

The OT-34s did their job and coupled with the quality of the infantry gradually wore down the Germans. They got too many men trapped upstairs so whilst surviving the scenario they were Encircled and thus couldn’t fulfil the VC

Really nice pbem game with Jim. Jim was patient and steadily advanced the Russians, forcing me into a smaller box. Last turn FPF hurt the Germans and a DC finished the defense. Great scenario

This looked like a lost cause from the get-go for the Germans, but once the Russians lost all their toys they at least had a chance. A heroic stand back-to-back in the middle of the road came down to the final CC to preserve the victory.

Russians have a tough time clearing the zone without getting hammered by the 88. Risks must be taken.

Heroes 2012. Another great Friendly Fire scenario. Lots of tension with the panzerfaust toting Germans and Russian flame tanks. Highly recommended.

Good game, very fun. May not have as much replay value, as setup almost dictates where German last stand will take place (stone building @ cc4) . Lot of sneaky LOS on this board. Shape of this game determined by Russian only getting 1 shit from 4 FT, and by German getting some good dice when needed to kill the tanks (one low odds shot from PF got a critical when needing a 4 TH, another AFV destroyed in Streetfighting with a 3 final TK), loss of AFV and FT made this one tough on the Russian side. The highlight of the match: fired 88 into Melee with 1 German squad vs. 2 Russian 6-2-8, German passed 2 mc and both Russians broke; Keith then decided to fire into the Melee to try and break my squad, which passed its MC. The first Russian squad eliminated itself with Boxcars, the second made itself berserk with snake eyes!
