Katyusha's Embrace	Fun scenario with a neat little defense setup. Russians had some bad luck with their OBA and then broke two MA, so the attacked stalled out.	dmareske
Swan Song	Ours played out very historically. I think the Germans racked up 53 CVP, lots of French blood spilled to win this one, but they did. A great scenario, with a lot of options from a strategy perspective. The French achieved the VC at the end of game turn 11.	CWO_19
First Dance	Could not kill the French ACs and received too many kills on the German 37Ls. The French managed some late game CHs with their S35s against my infantry. A notable last CC saw two 8-1 leaders take on the French 9-1 and 4-5-7, ambushed them and killed them. But those two leaders could not control the building as one of the S35s got a kill on my half squad in the building. Don't think I had enough VPs even then. It was fun to play out though!	dmareske

Danish Crossroads	Tough sledding for the Danes in this FNF game when they broke both ATGs without scratching the paintwork of any German AFVs. Frazer then used his ACs aggressively to try to freeze defending infantry to allow the Germans to make progress. This led to a rare event when the Danes managed to stun and capture an immobilized AC when the crew abandoned it. I had hopes that this might nail the reinforcing MkII at point blank range on the final turn but a DR of 11 kind of summed up the performance of Danish ordnance here. The final act came when the Germans had one unbroken squad in a victory hex in the final turn. An adjacent building contained a broken crewed and ATG with an 8-0 leader and 457 which was frozen by the MkII. The Danes managed to repair the gun, spin it and retain ROF with a shot at the tank. A hull hit bounced off the armour (needing a DR of 6 to kill). An intensive fire shot generated multiple hits, both of which resulted in DRs of 8. The tank survived and the 457 was denied the chance to try to break the adjacent German squad. That was that when the Danish stack broke under heavy defensive fire. Considering the complete failure of Danish guns to do any damage whatsoever, it was surprising that the finish was as close as it was. Villains at Ville-sur-Illon	Conservative German attack ran out of time. My AFV MG's had several key rolls on his infantry which sent Krauts scurrying back. FB immobilized a panzer and DM'd infantry. Fun for both of us.	nebel

Pomeranian Fury	German advance managed to avoid main Russian line of A-P mines and Guns to keep his units intact thus eventually swarming the beleaguered defenders.	Kydder
The Gingerbread Men	Germans placed the roadblock well forward, covered by MGs, and spread out squads to cover the forests. Roadblock and deep snow puts tremendous pressure on the US side to clear the road and get the tanks in play as soon as possible. A Sherman finally managed to blast the roadblock out of the way but as the Germans repositioned the US ran out of time to clear the woodline along the exit road of 'fausters.	RMod

Escape from Komsomol Park	Russians split their force about evenly, half staying and breaking a HS across the street in PFPh, the other making their way east across the street. They need to be very wary about guarding their rears from the German reinforcements. This they did, and the first batch entered on the eastern plaza. Second Turn saw them break the remaining frontline guards and start to push their way forward. The gutted buildings will make movement very slow. One of their LMGs broke for good. Turn 3 was more agonizing grind, both sides being almost entirely concealed. Turn 4 saw the Russians far enough ahead that the Germans felt their latest reinforcements were again needed in the rear. They sacrificed a HS to search and reveal a whole stack of Russians, setting up a bloody HtH showdown, which saw the Germans lose a 467, an 8-1, and a 9-1. While the Russians, victorious, lost a 237 and 328. After this there were still too many bodies in the way, so the survivors changed tack and swarmed west to join their comrades, their 8-1 leader breaking in the process. The bottom of Turn 5 saw me survive a bunch of point-blank shots, the +2 LV certainly making all shooting difficult. My forward troops were only a diversion though for my 5VP worth of men sitting on top of the street sewer. After choosing to shoot and stun the AC guarding their target manhole (I needed it alive), they used the sewers on Turn 6 to enter, exit, ambush, and withdraw off board for the victory. Good thing too, because the backup plan saw only 3VP worth of men make it out alive. A rather hokey little scenario, sounding more interesting on paper than it played.	buser333
Hammer to the Teeth	The German attack into Bleialf forced the Americans to hastily take up defensive positions. With a barrage of smoke from a German 81mm mortar, the main attack of three battalions pushed into Bleialf from the southeast while a flanking maneuver by one German battalion was temporarily halted by a lone bazooka team in the north. The American squads in the south began to fall back having taken casualties from the main German assault. As the main attack moved up onto a hill overlooking the village center, a 57mm AT gun, concealed in some woods, opened fire on the German units rushing to occupy the high ground. Meanwhile, the northern flanking attack had engaged the bazooka team in hand-to-hand combat. A German squad rushed along the southern flank to get in behind the Americans, but another 57mm AT gun, this one concealed in a building on the square, opened fire allowing a beleaguered American squad to fall back into cover. Now on the high ground the main German attack poured withering fire onto the AT gun in the woods temporarily routing the crew out of their position. Meanwhile, reinforcements from the 81st came rushing in from the rear to protect the remaining gun and its crew. As the Germans were regrouping, the first gun crew rallied and attempted to retake the gun position only to break once again under fire. The Germans on the high ground moved into the square to rout out the gun crew and a half-squad supporting them. Meanwhile, the bazooka team had managed to eliminate two full squads in hand-to-hand combat, but pinned when fired upon by the several machine gun crews. By now, the Germans split their forces into two with one battalion attempting a southern push while the other battalion flanked north. As the remaining Americans fell back to more defensible positions, the Germans knocked out the AT gun in the woods, but the remaining AT gun along with two machine guns kept the southern flank attack stalled. The Germans knocked out one of the machine guns as their crew fled across the square. Then the German machine gun squads moved to high ground attempting to push the northern flanking attack. Unable to rally along the southern flank, and unable to push further into the village from the north, the Germans retreated (conceded) and left Bleialf still in American hands. (VASL Log)	toddgrx
Danish Crossroads	Herbert played extremely well. I foolishly placed the non-HIP 20mm cannon too far forward and his MG fire group broke the crew in Axis T1 prep fire, followed by one of my squads going berserk in Axis T1 AFPh. After that, my defence of the woods in the center crumbled but not before inflicting morale checks on advancing German infantry. I was lucky with the remaining 20mm cannon and the MMG, turning two of the armored cars into blazing wrecks by the end of turn 3. I was also lucky enough to immobilise the PzKpfwII with a street fighting attack one hex away from the victory crossroads in Axis T4 Mph. Sadlyy, the advancing Germans overwhelmed the Danes in Axis T5 and I was obliged to concede (although I did already consider conceding at the end og Game Turn 4). Well done to Herbert.	geebeehaitch
Danish Crossroads	Paul played a nice tight defense that I just couldn't crack. He hunkered down in the stone buildings and my guys kept breaking once they got adjacent. It also didn't help that I was too aggressive with the armored cars on the first turn and saw two of them taken out. Fun little scenario. I'd play it again.	Cuddles McDeath
Kicked to the Curb	Interesting scenario, but difficult for the poles. The time is very small to try to get so much buildings, and the SSR that force the polish to split their MMC in both boards doesn't help. In our scenario the brave polish troops tried to get a hold in the town in turn 2 but where rejected with so many casualties that the scenario was decided very early with a soviet victory.	Lluison

For the Motherland	Second playing having switched sides, same result. All over T3. As the Russians I lost both KVs early to aggressive StuG tactics and just too many KIA, K/, ELR failure on the Russian infantry with the German force largely untouched. Just one of those games…	Simonstan

Clearing Colleville	The Germans held off the main thrust of the American's push towards Colleville, but a few American squads managed to reach the outskirts. As the Americans fell back to regroup, the Germans too fell back into better defensible positions. With further reinforcements arriving, the Americans pressed the attack fairing a bit better this time pushing the Germans back to the center of the village. A German MG42 on the north edge of town kept the newly arrived Americans at bay while the Germans reinforced the town from the south. At the western edge of town, the bulk of American squads engaged the Germans in heavy house-to-house fighting as some of the squads maneuvered southward to meet the newly arrived German reinforcements. Meanwhile, the northern flank of the attack continued to try and neutralize the MG42 bogging them down. Withering fire from German machine guns temporarily halted the flanking maneuvers by the Americans, but the main attack successfully routed the Germans out of the house and forced them to fall back to the southern edge of the village. Under the cover of smoke, a few half-squads quickly rushed the MG42 position and engaged in hand-to-hand combat. Meanwhile a platoon of Americans moved to support their lead elements held up on the southern edge of town as a small flanking force moved in to cover any German retreat to the east. To finally clear the Germans out of Colleville, the Americans fortified their close combat on the MG42 position still battling it out with a half-squad as the bulk of Americans overwhelmed the retreating Germans preventing any German counterattack that day. The Dornot Watermark	The Americans sent a decoy group of 100% dummy units to the left and the real units to the right. The tactic worked .... barely. While the decoys did bait and put effectively out of the about 50% of the SS force as well as the armor, the other 50% did manage to skillfully move to decent blocking positions to interdict the Fording-Line and Boat rendezvous crossing on either side of the elevated road. The combination of staged OBA, poor DRs, and American covering fire from the opposite bank made the difference, with the SS conceding in the penultimate turn with 10 CVP but only 3 CVP of Americans still "in-play". A great scenario that warrants considerable thought on set-up and throughout - definitely recommended!	Thompsonmg(MGT)

Purple Heart Lane	Americans started off well making good progress to the outskirts of Carentan. But as the German reinforcements arrived, the Americans stalled to cover their flank rather than pushing forward into the town. Bunching up and afraid to move the Americans came under withering fire, further delaying their attack. With both sides succumbing to the strain of combat, a few brave squads of Americans tried to press the attack to break the stalemate but it wasn't enough. With a final push, the Americans threw everything they had towards the town as the Germans rallied, moved into more effective defensive positions, and managed to keep their hold on Carentan (VASL Log)	toddgrx
The Dornot Watermark	Great scenario. Mark duped me a bit, and I found a half my SS force attempting to contain the majority of the Americans on the right. But on Turn 8 I had all the CVP I needed broken in front of me. But my troops apparently ran out of ammo, as I couldn't make the kills. Priests on the Line	Game only went into bottom of turn 3 (of 7) before I conceded on my third MA 6,6. Of my 10 AFV: 2 destroyed, 3 malfed their MA (2 were StuGs), 2 were stunned. Utterly brutal. Ten tubes and I couldn’t get a hit. Chuck played a great game leveraging bocage defense.	Houlie
Meatchoppers with Knives	Chinese had a 6+1 leader added to OB as balance. Eric's luck with SW was atrocious as the ammunition shortage resulted in the loss of all the heavy weaponry in their possession. The Chinese struggled to close with the defenders with too many pin results blunting the attack. This one looks tough on the attackers.	Dougban

Roads to Perdition	Enjoyable scenario. One of the best from the module. Our game came down to 3 last turn CC. Germans had more than enough points to win, but a last turn counterattack by the allies almost reduced the number of roadblock hexsides below the minimum. AFVs suffered in this game with only 2 immobile tank destroyers left on the board at game end.	RJenulis
Hardened Veterans	Called it a Russian win at the end of turn 4, as it was late and Steve was never going to clear me out of either VC factory in the remaining two turns. Fair to say that he diced himself with the number of boxcars he rolled, which were all Casualty Reduction or MC results.	Gamer72
Hill 621	An initiation for any ASL player! Was lucky enough to play for the first time against a seasoned player who recommended the scenario. We played through many sessions during 4 months, summer break included. Everything that can happen in ASL will probably happen in this massive scenario. By Turn 5, when the worst OBA attacks had passed and some vehicles from both sides were burning up on the hill, the wind picked up and smoke was dispersed towards the north-east, hindering some important LOS for the German defense. As if that was not enough, we eventually got heavy winds, which finally dispersed the smoke, but it was too late for the Germans. The Russians took hold of the 5 necessary hexes on their last player turn. I will definetily want to revisit this! But now for a more urban scenario...	mestravis
Maczek Fire Brigade	Opponent used sD and pushed into the village with the armor. HMG took a squad off the map but then broke and ran away. We traded tanks with the Polish getting the short end of that arrangement but he also kept malfing MA and my 12FP CMG attacks hit a couple of his stacks pretty hard. This was probably the difference in the game as he did not have enough troops left to take and hold buildings. SnakeEyes '39Friendly.	nebel
Maczek Fire Brigade	I used sD and pushed into the village with the armor and infantry with minor losses. Polish HMG on the hill took out a squad off but then broke under tank MG fire. We traded tanks with the Polish getting the better of the Germans initially, although able to close that gap later. Lotta German malfed guns. Running Into Walther	David and I played this scenario at Spreading Blaze 2026. We had a fantastic and dramatic game, one we'll tell tales of for years to come, but a hyper-sniper and hot dice very early gave the Germans hope they would not otherwise have. Given even skill levels and dice the Germans don't seem to have much of a chance.	SGT Mac

Panzerkeil at Prokhorovka	Return leg of our previous play. This time as German I tried to keep tanks in motion, shoot some smoke, and advance as much as I could to try to spread and disorient the Russian vehicles. But I was not consistent, and eventually half of my tanks were parked next to buildings or woods to try to deal with infantry but at the same time they were very vulnerable to CC and T34s maneuvering. Also, smoke dischargers are not something you can positevily count on. Eventually the attack collapsed and only two StuGs could exit. Looking forward to more reports of this complex SK scenario to read about different approaches for the German attack. Result: 49 VPs, of which 12 Exit VPs.	mestravis

Brush Fire	I thoroughly enjoyed this scenario, probably aided by good dice on my behalf that helped me see off all but one of the AFVs in the first half of the game with the Russian anti-tank gun. My Russians were dispersed in the woods running through the center of the set-up area and held on just long enough to enable a final retreat away from the advancing Germans in turn 5. The game turned on my conscripts breaking some German units in the final Defensive Fire phase in German turn 6 that helped stave off the prospect of close combat and then smoke hindrance from a burning PzIII helped enough units to stay in good order after fire in the Advance Fire Phase. Speed Over Caution	Jim methodically pushed the Americans forward using smoke and not letting the Germans get any significant firepower attacks. He found my HiP guys with his infantry and rushed my Panthers with infantry and tanks. Germans were completely eliminated in turn 5	sdedier
First Dance	A really interesting scenario. I drove for the center and right flank buildings with the initial French force and reinforced with the oncoming units. Chuck must have gotten 15 hits on my AFV's that failed to kill and that doesn't include wall hits against hd units. The French failed to hold their end of the left road. Poor judgement on my reinforcement use there. It came down to the last turn with the French holding one more VP and the Germans. The CVP cap was threatened but never was an issue.	sdedier
Smashing the Corridor	Poor german first tursns saw 2 AT guns malf, and the 3rd get snake eyed and deleted...with little to stop the russian tanks they made their way forwards blasting anything that stepped into view... Things looked bleak till the russian tanks reached the bulidings... multiple faust hits caused several wrecks and at the worst possible moment the broken 75mm AT gun repaired tiself just in time to destroy an IS with a rear shot...with most of he russian infantry outside of town there wasnt enough tanks left to gain the VP	chubooga

Mussolini's Laughter	The fun part of playing this scenario was playing Gary. He's an exceptionally skilled and fun opponent to enjoy a game with. As the record is showing, this scenario seems to favor the Italians. Bottom line, it's a bit of a dice fest for the Albanians in regard to eliminating the Italian armor, which account for 30 of the needed 41vp, the infantry guns and MG's have low TK rolls and PAATC's aren't great either. I managed to bag 1 in CC the rest drove off the board after taking multiple hits from the aforementioned INF and MG's. No idea what the balance provisions are however, either the Italian's need 1 or 2 fewer AFV or heftier VC.	SGT Mac

Baron's Counterattack	Friday night fight. My Germans gained a foothold in one of the victory buildings but I had to retire after the end of the American turn 4 rally phase. Jeff defended very well, taking full advantage of the bocage to mount a forward line of defence. I found a way into building K5 that Jeff had left unguarded, but the game turned when a broken American 3-3-7 in that building rolled snakes and became fanatic with hero creation. There were two many Americans in the building for me to clear and achieve the victory conditions, while the other building was guarded by two nearby 7-4-7s with an MMG. I failed to keep some Americans under DM, which did not help my cause. I would play this scenario again.	geebeehaitch
Kenny's Attack	My attack down the right went well until i stumbled into a boresighted hex. Americans didn't pass one morale check in the game and Gary had an excellent defense. By American turn 5 he had 4 concealed units in hexes in the woods with LoS to the road hexes and the ability to deploy and add more. Good game but the American commander was outmatched in this one.	sdedier
As Luck Would Have It	Germans made steady progress against the Brit defense straight up the middle. Brit 6pdr was able to kill one of the 39H Pak with a long range shot but the rest of the AFV's were able to hammer the defense especially after taking out the mortar. Eventually the Germans had the Brits down to one building and Tim conceded. Good close game with a few good die rolls for the Germans	sdedier
Wildcat Strike	There was action from the start, as I played a pretty tough upfront defense, but the only losses were some dummies. A couple more were lost at the bottom of the turn, as well as a squad's worth of Amis. Two more were busted, as the Ami attack in the south went exceptionally poorly. This band of Japs would hold out until the very last turn, granting the Japs 6 VP for their occupied buildings. Turn 2 saw some real damage delivered to the Japs, as they lost a squad and had another three striped. I generally try to deploy as much as possible when playing the Japs, as there's nothing I hate more than seeing those ugly red stripes across my counters. Even more disappointing, I bungled a CC attempt on a Sherman, despite having a full squad and a leader. Turn 3 saw more engagement, as the two sides traded squads. Amis also destroyed a tunnel, as the Japs were using these heavily as part of their fallback defense. Turn 4 saw the Amis lose another HS and an 8-0, but they were on the verge of busting the entire north side wide open, with only a striped squad and 10-0 standing in their way. They were able to occupy Board 10z buildings for the first time. Turn 5 saw these same men race to the water's edge unchecked, as the MMG crew whose job it was to slow them down was pinned by a sniper. The Japs continued to be whittled away, losing a HS and MMG. But they had started racing units back to the buildings across the VC road. Turn 6 was brutal for the Japs, losing their sole northern squad and accompanying 10-0, as well as another 1.5 squads and their 9-0 elsewhere. The Amis lost a HS and burnt out their FT. But yet more Japs ran for cover across the road, bringing their total VP count to 14 in infantry and 10 from prior building points for a total of 24. The Amis had 17 VP in infantry, but only 3 from buildings, for a total of 20. Their plan was, using their three vehicles, to tie up at least one hex of Japs in melee. The first to try was the furthest away and, having to go CE to make it there via the road, it was stunned by some point blank MMG fire. The second to try drove right by the last remaining THH who, finding an ATMM, blew it bits. The third made it in bypass to one of the hexes. The 9-1 and 447 failed their first CC attack, but were able to take it out on their second (due to it having busted its CMG earlier). So a close finish but, overall, I didn't overly care for the scenario too much, especially considering the goofy end game rush it invited.	buser333
Moreh Melee	At first sight the Japanese task looks tough: capturing every building location (32 of them I think) in the Allied setup area. However, the Allied setup instructions force a widely dispersed setup, and the Japanese were able to sweep across the board with very little resistance, picking off isolated Allied units one at a time. I didn’t have a lot of dice luck, and even the two Allied tanks failed to shift the balance; one of them succumbing to a lucky shot whilst the Japanese lost none of their tanks. In retrospect I could have played it better, but it was still an enjoyable scenario.	Andy_Bagley

Currie's Favor	First two turns were quite. Then all hell broke loose. A lucky MTR hit (I needed a 2 and rolled a 2 followed by the critical hit additional roll), took out the 10-2 leader, a full squad (random selection, both rolled a 6) and then broke a HS. The 88LL took out two Stuarts and a Sherman. The Canadians exceeded the CVP cap by turn 4 without taking any VP buildings.	RJenulis

Corps Value	A real slugfest. The NKA managed to take out two UN tanks in addition to other casualties and it all came down to whether the attackers could take enough prisoners to get the win. A fortuitous CC result when a 447 managed to kill a 768 and 9-2 leader despite being ambushed clinched the win but it could easily have gone the other way. The NKA sniper really earned its keep in this one!	Dougban
Show a Little Guts!	Fun and intensive. Japanese player needs to be extremely aggressive and ruthless. In T2 (except for reinforcements) every single Japanese unit banzaied in three separate banzais, including 2 THH and a DC hero. Glorius, costly but broke the back of the defense.	Fiedler

Grebbeberg Heights	Came down to the last close combat. My husband needed to win two close combats to win the game. He killed my half squad, but when I rolled to get him, I rolled snake eyes, got an 8-0 leader from leader creation. It was enough to make the snake eyes to kill off two and half squads and a leader for the win.	Dispang12

Bidermann's Escape	I drew the Germans in this late Bagration scenario and tried a risky divided attack. I sent some infantry toward building W8 and the rest toward the BB1 woods. The western group occupied Jim's light tanks long enough for my SdKfz 10/5s to slip around the eastern woods and exit with a couple squads for the win. This fight was surprisingly bloodless. I lost two 3 HS and my 9-1. Jim lost 2 HS and one T-26 (in CC). Jim: I wasn't aggresively enough with the T-26s which are expendable. The key was that both of my squads that were CR'd had ATRs which were lost. After that, the MMG kill stack was my only chance to kill the halftracks and I missed the few shots it got. This odd little scenario was fun but it really comes down to whose squads either don't break or rally quickly. There isn't enough time for either side to mess around. Fun game.	dieneuner25

Holding the Rear	Game came down to the last German movement phase. They had to get all the remaining Germans and tanks off. The Germans could not use the tanks to VB freeze the American MMG and HMG as they needed to get the tanks off . Very close game.	slunts

Dracula's Fangs	Down to the last turn CC for 2 Gun Crews. I had enough troops for >3:1 with each attack on the crews so only needing to tie them up in Melee or Kill them was in my favor. Note: both of us made OOB errors in our favor MG for me and a Trench for him so this result isnt perfect. Enjoyable to play this one as the Brits. They know what to do, where to go to win, and have the troops and toys to do it. Japanese player has perhaps more challenges but also plenty of opportunities to use their unique traits to stop the attack with ambushes and well placed MG fire. Going Against the Grain	I set up north of the hedgerow and oriented my attack primarily on the northern town to try to get around his main line of resistance in the south. While that worked, after a fashion, Jim kept picking off my Panthers so that I lacked sufficient firepower to make much headway. I lost one Panther to a hidden 76LL, one to a APDS shot at close range from a 57 MA, one to a (surprise) PIAT shot up the tailpipe from a hidden crew and a fourth was immobilized by a CH from a light mortar. I had one SP gun recalled by a Sniper and the other had low ammo after its first, and only shot. At that point I failed my Player Morale Check and called it over by the end of British Turn 3. It seems like 5 Panthers and a bunch of SS should be able to get the job done but that certainly didn't happen this time. I enjoy playing Jim but didn't have much fun with this scenario.	Agoldin

The Grist Mill	Very dicey scenario. The NKA sniper proved to be the game winner here, as it broke one and a half squads and killed the best US leader by the end of turn two. The Belgians never put K3 under any serious pressure, helped in no small measure by their AFV failing to start on two occasions due to lack of a radio. The Publications page has had a minor face-lift and I've amended the scenario recommendations to exclude scenarios recommended that have the same name as scenarios you've already played before.

Site updates!

There's some updates to the scenario pages and the "My Page" that help find fun scenarios to play, based on other player's recommendations.

On the scenario page, you can see other scenarios that have been rated highly, based upon user ratings who have rated the initial scenario highly. (It's all a bit complex but it does try to quell the problem of good, popular scenarios outranking lesser played scenarios that might have a higher correlation).

On your "My Page" I've updated the games played and the publications owned tables to be a little more useful, and made an effort to speed up the rendering of the page, too. There's also a scenario recommender on there that takes into account scenarios that you have rated highly, and the input of other players - and checking that you haven't already played that scenario before (no promises on scenarios that have been released multiple times though, currently!)
