Action at Kilometer Post 3	The British just set up in full view of the German's entering from offboard and pummel them as they enter/move. There's no real saving grace for the Germans, outside of hoping for terrible rolls from your opponent. The fact that you can get rate of fire AND intensive AND there's no incentive to move rather than shoot more in the British PFPh just means that the German chance of winning is near impossible. Holding Korte	Defense mostly back in the village Slugger and one Sherman on a hill another Sherman HD behind walls in the village center. Aggressive attack up the main road, lots of riders. Biggest event in T1 was that a Panther took out the Sherman on the hill with bounding fire shot. Lost a PzIV when it failed to smoke itself. I got good rolls on most tank shots and took out Sluggo when it popped over the hill thinking it was behind some woods. That let both Panthers take down the Sherman in the village while the 8 MG factor PzIVs made life miserable for the US infantry. Lost a Panther to the last sherman which found a timely APCR round and put it into my turret. Opponent conceded whent i had a HS survive 2 main gun hits, all 10 MG factors, and a squad prep fire on it and only pin. It administered the coup-de-grace at 2 hexes into the last Sherman in US T4. On the Kokoda Trail	I had two of my three groups enter on the west of Board 37, and one on the north edge of Board 34. The northern most of the Board 37 were the elite guys, who were going to run up the middle to support the Board 34 advance. Everyone was to avoid engagement and press for the VC area. This worked well, with the mortars SMOKEing important hexes and the Japanese squads moving on despite fire and striping. By the time the Turn 5 Aussie reinforcements came on, they were trying to counterattack a winning Japanese force. Good Japanese dice rolls prevented that from working. It was done by the end of Turn 5, with 25 Japanese Exit VP in the VC area.	ubertripp
Galician Persuasion	Lots of smoke from the big mortar and Zrinyii. Defense was a festung on the far side of the river but the mortar and Zrinyii were too much Opponent popped a couple of them with T-34 shots but I was able to get into the village and soak up enough FP to move my flamethrower up and take out two of the T34. With 5 of the 6 hexes Axis controlled opponent conceded in turn 5. We both had fun - good toys for both sides. Axis probably has a bit of an advantage with all the smoke opportunities. Death's Head Debut	Lost my 9-2, a HS and had 3 squads broken in my first prep fire phase to the Russian sniper. In T1 movement he took another HS off the map and broke a couple more squads. Despite that I was able to get into the village and get a squad in CC. My tanks with all the MG firepower pretty much cleared the hills by themselves despite at least a dozen 45L ATG hits that never did anything. He shocked a Pz4 with an ATR hit into rear turret but it came back next turn. Pretty close game as he had several squads left in the village but after 2 T34 MA malfs he conceded due to time in Ax turn 5. GrumblerKC26	nebel

The Bozsoki Relay	A wild game with lots of 2s rolled by the Hungarians which resulted in several berserk units, all on the group that needed to exit. Fun game played in the Grumbler Tournament.	dmareske

The Fifth's Rearguard	My Soviets just couldn't pass a morale check. I was making some progress through the village, but by the end of the Soviet fourth turn I had only about 4 good order units left and one SU-76 while the Germans were sitting pretty (I did manage to take out his 75*. Still had a fun time and would play Neil again anytime.	Cuddles McDeath
The Fifth's Rearguard	Doug's assault was slow and steady, but my German's hung around until turn 6. I had a chance to win, but had to cross open ground and survive with a half squad (which pinned) while my three other squads were either caught in close combat, failed to rally in the last turn, or broke in the final movement phase. It was a fun scenario and I would definitely play it again.	geebeehaitch

Bastion Bodange	Very interesting scenario featuring early-war tin cans. Germans have a lot to do and were hampered by terrible dice. A bad combination. I’d say the Belgian has the edge in this one.	Houlie

Ambush!	Not particularly interesting for the Partisan player as most of their units stay static during the game. Enjoyable once the Bulgarians start moving.	cscottk
St. Kilian's Bloody Sword	Germans easily swept through and quickly controlled all Factories. Remaining defenders were then crushed by both sides.	Kydder
West of the Merderet	Germans could not endure the relentless MCs inflicted on them. With rout paths restricted it didn't last long.	Kydder
Black Devils of Bure	Alan set up well back, allowing my Germans relatively unimpeded progress for two and perhaps three turns. I lost one panzer to a rate tear by a Canadian MTR. I did get two CH with my tanks, both of us created a leader and I was lucky to get a hero. Alan chose the 9-2 group, and hid the 9-2 with a squad and MMG. I tend to want to get a 9-2 into the action asap. The VC are a bit quirky. We thought part of the VC was to get 6 MMC CVP off the board, but a closer read shows it's 6 MMC _counters_. This was a really, really good scenario. The Germans can be a bit aggressive with their panzers, but not too aggressive of course. The Canucks are the tough 458 variety and difficult to dislodge. My only minor quibble was the non-standard VC. Getting a certain number of CVP off makes sense to me, but a certain number of counters? I would highly recommend this scenario and would gladly play it again.	Indy Lagu

Earning Face	Both of the Japanese MMG started HIP. One of the MMG was in the church steeple and had a wonderful field of fire. The Japanese had low rolls during the first turn, after that the rolls seemed average or high. Game called at end of Chinese turn 3 because the Chinese did not have enough strength left to win. The Bears of St. Denis	First round game in Hex and Violence tournament. Jamie came up with a defensive set up with all three AFVs on the hill on the German right flank. From there they were well placed to interdict the British as they tried to cross the board. An attempt to attack the hill was high risk and I chickened out. Thereafter a brilliant German defence, aided by great accuracy by the assault guns simply chewed up the attack and it never really threatened to clear the victory buildings.	Dougban

Earned, Not Given	Amis were probably a bit too aggressive here, losing a full squad and BAZ on Turn 1 running into the hidden ART. The remaining HIP Japs all sprung up to try and hold off the Amis in the west. The eastern force did what the Amis should do from the get-go: assault move/advance. With a whopping 7 turns and only needing to move 7-8 hexes to accomplish their easy VC, they should be doing this with their entire force. Some terrible advancing fire allowed the Japs to only have to break and run one crew/MMG (already broken using sustained fire). Amis continued to be overly aggressive on Turn 2, suffering a staggering 5.5 broken squads and one squad KIA. Only one of the three CCs they initiated went in their favor, eliminating and capturing the other crew/MMG, but allowing the gun crew to sneak behind them setting up an encirclement opportunity, and another squad to get behind the lines in the east. When their broken 7-0 failed to rally, he and the 1.5 squads with him were surrounded to force a surrender. Meanwhile the encirclement vs. the 2 squads/9-1 was only partially successful, breaking one of the squads. But the subsequent sniper roll finished the job by breaking the remaining squad. With literally half their squads now eliminated, the Amis threw up the red flag. Give me the Amis every time in this one.	buser333
Chance Encounter	A very strange setup to this scenario where you have to roll dice and then only move for the first turn, along a predetermined route. You could save yourself some time with a pair of possible setups based on who wins the die roll. In either case, its such a tiny scenario where the first person to move has the advantage, since there's no real cover to hide in. The "regular" ASL scenario at least has dust and heat haze, while this one mysteriously does not. The world wonders...	Jobbo_Fett
My God, Did You See Who They Were...	A small unit size scenario where going first is based on a dice result (all units are placed in specific hexes, with very little leeway. I feel like its such a tiny scenario where the first person to move has the advantage, since there's no real cover to hide in. At least you won't suffer for very long!	Jobbo_Fett
"...Things Are Hot!"	Seeing the record on ROAR we diced for sides but gave the balance to whomever got the Germans. Things did not go well for the Americans. They lost two tanks hull down and did not get on APCR shot which made the Panthers virtually unstoppable. The Germans were able to sneak up in their winter gear and then kill a few Americans in CC.	dmareske
Fighting Withdrawal	Finnish swarmed the east Russian flank and broke through on Turn 3. Russians shifted some reinforcements to the east, and the remainder withdrew south to block routes and eventually exit. Two hidden squads in the south joined the skirmish, but the Finns prevailed. Exit VP's ended with a 13-7 Finnish victory.	Schoenwulf

Bloodier Than D-Day	Fun little scenario, would be good for a tournament. The Commandos look overwhelming next to the pathetic dross they're facing, but they have a lot to do. I was able to get most of my starting force back to the village, albeit some of that was broken. A scorching fire phase saw Martin break most of my defenders he could see on turn 5, but my only PF of the game took out his 10-2 on a wound roll. An ongoing Melee on turn 5 blocked one of his approaches to the two possible VP buildings, and a 20+2 shot on my desperate Conscript squad only pinned it, enabling it to participate in an encirclement of his main assault force in the street, which was then pinned by the AA Gun adjacent. A close game, if the 10-2 had survived I don't think I would have won it.	Gamer72

Taylor Made Defense	German's initial gains were substantial by gaining multiple British Prisoners. But British destroyed 2 AFVs with the PIATs and the Marder malfed & Recalled ... it was a stand-off for a couple turns until the last PIAT malfd and eliminated. Eventually the last AFV got a nice hit in the only building being defended with everyone breaking with much of crying.	Kydder
Fire on the Mountain	If the Italians are lucky enough to roll for AP mines, I think this scenario simply becomes an exercise in frustration for the British. Set everyone up in the back, out of sight and out of mind for the British, then wait for them to Stray, or be careless, or otherwise cause themselves their own harm. Meanwhile, you'll have a significant advantage with height, Mines, and other shenanigans to put down the attacker's attempts at getting offboard. At least it can serve as a way to teach Night rules and movement therein?	Jobbo_Fett
Beast at the Bridge	Made it through 3 of 7 turns with a German victory. This after 1 (of 4) T34/85s bogged/immobilized in rubble (w/out great LOS), 1 to CCRF (w/ ATMMs), 1 to King Tiger and the last to a conscript’s PF. Russian dice were not very good; mine were quite favorable at the right time. That was the difference maker.	Houlie

Taking Tailleville	Paul's outer ring of Germans did their job grinding down my Canadian attack and I had to rush to get to the fortified building in sufficient time to try to take it. By that time I had expended both my FTs and I had to rely on sheer firepower. After I had surrounded the building and encircled its defenders, Paul cleverly slipped some of his Germans away through the tunnel, appearing behind my Canadians, who had to hustle to get into CC against them. Meanwhile the Germans in the fortress stood firm. After repeated attacks (and poor dice rolling on my part) the German luck finally ran out as they broke from point-blank Sherman fire. Gun & Run	FNF game. The Gurkha gunners were deadly here. Four tanks were eliminated and one was shocked in the first MPh and that was game over, The Japanese need to be a bit circumspect here and try to keep a couple of tanks out of sight until the infantry have cleared the way for them to advance. Gun & Run	Friday Night Night - A lesson in how not to attack as the Japanese. It was all over in the DFPh of the Japanese 1st turn. 9 TH rolls, 7 hits, both misses with rate, 1 hit was a multiple :- all resulting in a possible shock(passed), 2 shocks and 5 kills( 1 burning). (VASL Log)	Paul Legg

Gun & Run	FNF game. David put up an excellent defence and I resigned in turn 4. The Japanese suffered the loss of 3 AFVs and the Gurkhas amassed enough CVP that I wouldn't have been able to get the difference below 18 and exit enough infantry off the north edge.	geebeehaitch
Feast Day	A tricksy win by hipping a 1/2 squad in the needed building. It took the group of Canadians 5 turns to clear that building so when they did they used turn 6 to run and capture everything else as there were no more Germans left, but they forgot to walk through the rest of the building.	dmareske

Second Wind	Enjoyed this one. Had great success w my German cats killed 11 of the Russian AFV many of them w bounding fire shots. Russian infantry rolled my landsers back but the reinforcements retook a building to lock out the Russians.	nebel

No Answer	Another very good Pete Shelling design. I displayed my usual sloppiness by forgetting to entrench anyone at start. I think that, had I been thinking, it would have delayed Rob's Germans by at least a turn. That difference might have made a difference. Rob played his typical methodical attack. The Germans have a strong defence at start, but once the shell cracks, things can end quickly. I'd happily play this one again!	Indy Lagu

Clash at Borisovka	Switched sides while still learning. We may have gotten a few rules incorrect during play. The Russians made a dash for the south not wanting to engage with the Tigers or PzIVs, but the Germans would have none of it. While initial German fire managed to take out several T-34s, the Russians managed to swarm behind German armor and to knock out a few PzIVs. But ultimately they were no match vs the PzVIE (VASL Log)	toddgrx
A Long Way To Go	Well, this didn't go well for the Americans (me). On Turn 2, I quickly realized that I had set up too far forward and in positions that didn't leave me many shots. Most were either blocked or into several hindrances. It's never a good day when you've got to immediately fall back or when your rout paths are limited. The Germans quickly swarmed to the west and pushed forward. While another force kept the Americans busy in the east. Unable to withstand the German attack, and having few rout paths, the Americans lost two squads and a leader to "failure to rout". The Germans continued to push albeit very very cautiously which allowed the Americans in the east to rush westward in a desperate attempt to delay the German advance. Ultimately the Americans were too few to effectively stop the Germans (VASL Log)	toddgrx

Silent Death	An exercise in understanding rules of engagement and how to properly structure your CC attempts. While I think this scenario is great to learn the basics of such alone, or with a friend you've gotten beers for, I don't think this scenario is any fun at all. Mount Pissoderi	Nice, tightly balanced scenario. Greek 9-1/HMG in overwatch on Brd 2 had a few rate runs that broke up Italian repositioning and allowed flanking forces to scale the cliffs from behind and take the key positions. Italian AC finally overran the HMG position but too late to make the difference. Great tactical challenge for both sides, would play again with either side.	RMod
French Spirit	Great little scenario that has both sides defending and attacking. Seems a little hard on the Germans especially if the French oust the village defenders before help arrives.	dmareske
Welcome Back	Snow started falling on the first Player Turn and never stopped, which helped the Germans in their goal. Regardless of that, the American setup was too broad and thus with a very limited FP in each sector. The Germans eventually decimated the defense and had no problem exiting the required number of squads with one full turn to go. The American setup seems to be an absolute key for this scenario. Looking forward to the return match.	mestravis

Egypt's Last Hope	Up 1-0 in LitS, I got my DAK KG across the open desert quickly and took VC Hill 758 on turn 4. That triggered a massive fight for Hill 766 that drew in almost every unit we both had left. (I never seriously threatened Hill 792.) This one was closer than it looked in turn 5, but I simply ran out of infantry by turn 7. I had 3 squads and 2 HS and 2 leaders for my last desperate attack on 766. It failed as OBA plastered both sides. More Panzers survived than I expected, and overall this one was a great fight in torturous terrain! Jim: Like all desert scenarios with dust, this one boils down to who gets LR hits. Neither of us got any, so the tank battle moved into the hills where we both had more bounce offs than kills! Both sides must keep MMCs alive, which isn't easy! Fortunately, my survivors were on hills with entrenchments and they held out but just barely. Good game! Gallabat Grab	A tale of two sets of dice, where Rootin's wasn't paying off and mine were taking advantage of the lack of TEM/Cover. I think this scenario could be improved with some minor changes, like not forcing the Italian MMG to come in DM'ed. Otherwise, not too bad of a scenario, but it does punish the Italians for the poor squad design that they suffer through.	Jobbo_Fett

A new publisher in the shop!

Le Franc Tireur have joined the ranks of third party publishers who will be selling digital packs on the shop.

Minor updates

The scenario page now has an Order of Battle editor to ease the pain of editing scenarios and slight update in the way scenarios are linked by name to scenarios in ROAR.

The Publications page has had a minor face-lift and I've amended the scenario recommendations to exclude scenarios recommended that have the same name as scenarios you've already played before.

Site updates!

There's some updates to the scenario pages and the "My Page" that help find fun scenarios to play, based on other player's recommendations.

On the scenario page, you can see other scenarios that have been rated highly, based upon user ratings who have rated the initial scenario highly. (It's all a bit complex but it does try to quell the problem of good, popular scenarios outranking lesser played scenarios that might have a higher correlation).

On your "My Page" I've updated the games played and the publications owned tables to be a little more useful, and made an effort to speed up the rendering of the page, too. There's also a scenario recommender on there that takes into account scenarios that you have rated highly, and the input of other players - and checking that you haven't already played that scenario before (no promises on scenarios that have been released multiple times though, currently!)
