Grab and GoVery interesting scenario with different options for both sides. As the German defender, I set up strong in thee centre, placed all my dummy counters plus a couple of half squads on the right flank and the mortar on the left flank behind woods with a spotter half squad entrenched in front of it. I wanted to deter a flank attack and I got my wish when Eric sent his whole force up the centre with a view to capturing buildings. Things started well for the attackers as the forward defenders where overwhelmed. The Russians captured two victory building to get a head start with 6 VPs. After this however the defence stiffened and a series of low rolls resulted in casualties for the attack which started to bog down. When the German HMG halftrack managed to survived two ATR shots and exit, I was ahead on points. The mortar halftrack was less fortunate and was immobilized. At game end, the Russians had to charge for the exits with the few units that could reach them. A 9-2 leader and accompanying stack waltzed across open ground to make it to safety but that was not enough when the German 9-2 led a half squad off the board to seal the win on the final turn. Highly recommend this one. Would be happy to play either side. Dougban

TotensonntagI used a German set-up found on-line. The MMG was in the P5 woods-mass and the lmg layed down fire lanes when they could. The Poles concentrated on the east flank, but pushed forward in center as well. I rarely blame the dice, as I think a good player can still work around that., but in a small scenario like this it can be too much. I think every Polish squad broke at least once. They rallied and still made a run for it, but the 4's and 5's rolled across the board by the Germans on all of their attacks on turn 6 pretty much sealed the deal, with only 3 German squads eliminated. It's About TimeThe British forces started up close against the Germans and immediately took the battle to them. The British were able to squeeze the German in Le Port and had eliminated the Germans from Le Port by the end of Turn 5. A lucky shot from a captured MMG broke the squad in the Chateau and opened the flood gate for the pour through slunts
It's About TimeI was able to cause plenty of British casualties but not enough to stem the avalanche. Conceded after losing all 3 Pz IV's in a single turn. With no armour killers left (except PF's) and only 4 live squads, it was time to concede. aiabx
Claws of the SparrowA training game for my opponent, who is bringing his PTO play up to speed. Our previous session saw a glorious multi-hex Banzai followed by multiple HtH CC in which nearly everyone died, but the last session was a dicefest in which I shot his troops to pieces for the loss of a crew to a boxcars MC. Nevertheless, an enjoyable game. Gamer72
Fighting BackGermans set up the machine guns in upper floor locations across board 22. The Poles attacked on the German right. The Germans forgot about the Polish reinforcements entering behind their front line, so immediately fell back on the left flank and fought a controlled fighting withdrawal on the right and center, to great effect. In the end the Polish tanks were destroyed or in hiding, while almost all the Polish leaders were lost, so the attack petered out in the face of a solid German line, just in front of the victory buildings. De Zwarte DuivelsBoth of us had good and bad luck here. As the Dutch, my mortar broke down on its first shot, and one of my armoured cars was set ablaze by a lucky ATR shot. On the other hand, the Germans lost their heroic leader early to an unlucky wound, and I created a hero to help battle for the large building. I also used my HMG and 9-2 leader to prevent the Germans crossing the western bridge, and the German HMG on that side of the board never really got into the action.
In the end it was Dutch weight of numbers that swung it, as I managed to cause German casualties and take enough of the building to prevent them gaining enough VP to match my total (final score was Dutch 13, Germans 11)

This is the BBCWell there's a reason why these and LCP's ASL for Fun scenarios are free. The reason in this case because it's a lopsided dog. It would be hard enough for the Brits to stand up to the SS muscle. The Churchills are no match for the Panzers, even less so if they didn't bring HEAT (which none of mine did). They can protect themselves with smoke for a while, but all they are are VPs waiting to happen. It would probably be an interesting game if the only VPs were for the VC buildings and for running the 457s offboard, and so it was for the first 3 turns. But then the ROBA hit and destroyed any chance of fun this scenario ever had. I played this out way longer than needed, finally conceding after my Turn 5 with the score 26-72, and only going to get worse. buser333

A Burnt Out CaseA real upping of the ante on AFV rules for me. My SU-76M was taken out by the Armored Car well positioned on the southern road on the first turn (along with a 458 squad) - rest of troops safely dismounted and headed to the paths in the woods while tanks tried their luck in the grain. 1 tank lost to Faust and other immobilized by marauding AC - who then got taken out. Things started going better for Russians late as they outflanked defense from the south but ran out of steam. Needing on last Turn with broken squad to rally, take last building and take bunker with DC, as well as hold on to 1 taken building objective and also win a low odds CC in another. Scout Car was a bit of a threat but ended up not doing much. asevenson

Pössl’s PosseFor Tussle in the Tundra von Garvin
Start Fall GelbFun little scenario played at Tussle in the Tundra '25. David's Belgians set up more strongly to cover the road on my left, so I made a main thrust through the middle and the more open ground on my right. The plan was to use my little Pzs for SD smoke and hopeful set up first shots against the slightly better Belgian tanks.
That part worked, and I got the low TKs I needed to kill one and then Shock and kill another. My infantry was a bit behind schedule, but by Turn 5 I was in the village, overrunning infantry and trying to freeze the Belgian 9-1 and MG.

The Belgian 9-1 had other ideas. He killed the marauding PzII in First Fire, kept rate, and then turned his MG on my infantry in Final Fire, KIA'ing one stack and breaking my 9-1 stack and 3 squads on a 1MC.
With no time left to rout, rally, and return to the attack, I conceded.

Pössl’s PosseI set up a bit too far forward, and didn't arrange my rout paths correctly. The Russians can gang up on the little buildings at the foot of the hill, and I should not have put 3 squads down there to delay the advance. I had to break to extract, and they never rallied, dying to casualty rallies and subsequent breaks.
Kedge's attack was well formed and relentless, and as my Marder missed his shots and was burned in AFPh, the Russians were on the hill in force by Turn 3 and I had lost 6 of my initial 8 squads.

Beacon of HopeThe German attack on Turn 1 should have been more aggressive and take the center bridge. They crossed the bridge on Turn 2 and a lucky K/1 from a Swede defender caused their only loss of the game, but then another German squad got in Melee with another Swede for two turns losing some time, and causing the only Swede lose of the game. The German vehicles advanced through the road on Turn 4, but the Norwegian reinforcements had already arrived and the German infantry got pinned through the road, making it impossible to reach the line in Turn 5. In general it is a little tough for the Germans as they need to push hard since Turn 1 and hope for bad defending rolls. The vehicles should clear the road ahead to locate the HIP Norwegians and to stop the reinforcements, and the infantry should run behind them. But it is short and nice to play. esparver73
Piege a CarpiquetA hidden gem. Pregame selection of VC gives this nice fog of war. I chose the village VC due to better cover. Several turns were maneuvering, then things really got wild. Canadians won on turn 8 with a CC roll to eliminate tough German defenders in the village church. Lots of choices, and patience is rewarded. Very recommended. Houlie
Death on the Albert CanalFriday Night Fight - The Brits conceded during German turn 4 movement after the ATG malf'd on its first shot leaving an 8-0 and 457 squad to try and prevent the remaining German forces leaving in the remainder of this MPh.

For setup I split my forces into three groups; 2 and a half squads in the north with 8-1 leader, the dm mmg and purchased psk, in the centre 3 squads , one of which was deployed, the 7-0, a lmg and a JgPz, finally in the south were the remaining 4 squads, 9-1, an lmg and 2nd JgPz. The northern force was initially delayed by a solitary squad w lmg in the single hex building but with support from the centre group which met little resistance were able to clear the way. To the south the JgPz moved to I9 minus its rider who had been stripped by def fire.

Among the RuinsA great scenario. Americans have a powerful combined arms force working through a long city fight, with 10 Player Turns to reach their goal. The Germans have elite defenders in stone buildings with lots of MGs, some HIPs and PSKs, and a nasty AA gun.

As the Americans, I loaded up on the right flank, with two platoons to advance up the middle and only one on the left. The goals was to overload on the board edge and use MG fire lanes to keep the Germans from moving left-to-right to adjust.

Things were going very well, and I had an intact force of sufficient size near the final quarter of the board length with 5 player turns to go.

But both the German HMGs, lead by the 9-2 and 8-1, had tremendous Prep Fire ROF sprees and killed 4.5 squads. So many 2s and 3s.

Anyway, that was half of what I needed to exit, so I conceded after Turn 7 and we went to have beers and cheesesteaks.

Sting 'em at ZingemThe Germans crossed the river with one halftrack full of passengers and the armored car. Most of the infantry, including the dm MMG, came in on turn 2 on the southern edge, with a smaller force on the north. An attack with a LMG from a trench managed to wreck the armored car, while one of the humble Belgian tankettes blazed one of the halftracks. In the end, one tankette was wrecked and the other was recalled. On their last turn, the Germans managed to control the four southernmost VC hexes, after failing completely on the northern side (two VC hexes). The result came down to a wound severity die roll in the CCPh of the last player turn. mestravis
Second Hand NewsThe Partisans were relatively easily pushed aside and the Italians struggled to catch up with the German advance.

Interesting situation, but failed to live up to the anticipated excitement levels.

Germans had some decent luck early on which allowed them to keep up the momentun and stay ahead of the chasing Italians.

The game was called at the end of T3 when it was clear there was little or nothing stopping the Germans escapting off the board en-masse.

A different early game outcome might have made this much closer.

Played as a 3P game, with 2P going the allies ... perhaps not so much fun for the Italian player in that arrangement, unless they can catch up to the Germans.

Worth a play and relatively quick, especially with 3P.

Highway to HellInitial round of Ami entry saw them make a push for the eastern edge. The next batch entered in the middle and bottom of Board 36, while the Board 35 forces made for the western edge. Needless to say it was a quiet couple turns for me, and I did something I rarely ever do - dig a bunch of foxholes in preparation for all the upcoming Ami OBA. I did shift forces on Board 36 to bolster the Hill 526 defense, as I felt this would be a crucial spot. I was very surprised he didn't try and situate some kill stacks on either Hill 502 or 507 to duke it out with me, but he was very concerned about the lack of cover and all the multiple ROF eyes I'd have on him (perhaps rightly so). Turn 3 saw first contact as he ran into a HIP unit in the NW wooded tendril of Hill 526. As would be a common tactic for me throughout the game, I simply broke and ran away. My reinforcements had freedom of movement as he wasn't even close to having anyone with LOS to them. Turn 4 saw the first casualties as two of my HIP HS were unable to get away. I had a line of defenders along the Hill 615 road, while he was on the doorstep of testing my Hill 526 defenses. Turn 5 saw the first Ami casualties when two HS went down, while I traded three of my own in the process. He backed off his threat on Hill 526 and moved to consolidate for a push up the middle of the boards. Turn 6 saw him drop some OBA WP to shroud his approach up the middle. It turned one of my broken HS fanatic. He lost a squad to a thrown DC from me. Turn 7 saw me lose another two HS, and he was making progress in both the middle and west pushing my line ever backwards. But when Turn 8 saw the rain finally start (something I'd been hoping for since the start), and his radio lose contact during a crucial juncture, he threw in the towel. I honestly thought he was in a position to start pounding me with some serious Ami firepower, and with all his 3 ROF weapons I was concerned I wouldn't be able to shuffle enough bodies to stand up to him. But he was worried about the CVP cap, and had yet to run into any mines (his sixth sense kept him from moving into two such spots earlier), With time running low, the terrain being very funneling, and his lack of enjoyment of the slogfest this was he just felt it wasn't worth continuing. With the constant shuffling I had to do with my defense, and the many tricks up my sleeve, I enjoyed this scenario much more than he did, and would play it again as either side. buser333

Merzenhausen ZooThe southern force came through the brush and the tanks were chewed up by the 50L and a Stug3. Fire Lanes kept harassing his infantry. On the west edge, the JgPz IV was unstoppable, and the Crocs and Cromwell were speedily dispatched. The infantry, with little SMOKE to protect them, were cut down by Fire Lanes.
The Allied attack never really got off the starting block, and they conceded by Turn 5.

Hill 621Hard fought battle. It was touch and go for both sides. The Russians made a couple rash moves that cost them 2 leaders leaving them unable to rally all the broken units scattered across the battle field. Still, once they started climbing the hill, the Germans were hard pressed to keep them off the ridge. The Russians captured 5 hexes, but were pushed off one. In the end, they didn't have enough infantry to retake the final hill hex as the armor succumbed to PFs. Heloanjin
Round OnePlayed against defense taken from youtube "scenario archive" channel. They had the central area defended with wire and fortified locations. Germans lost 3 AFV's in the first movement phase, so held the rest of them back out of the danger lanes. They meticulously worked the infantry up on the left board and reached the bunker by turn 3. One Gun went down and created enough of a whole to slip a couple of tanks to run over the wire and a Mark 4 to drop a smoke round on a fortified hex. The flamethrower moved up and pinned the defender in the smoke. The German right flank petered out, but they completely broke through on the right and gained the buildings they needed for the victory. Guru Bob
Bolder Than BeforeChoosing VC 2, the Russians won on a Russian Turn 6 CC. All three of the Russian tanks were disabled in some way. The Ukranians passed several critical MCs to make it very close in the end. dmareske
Dying for DanzigThe Germans set up their HMG forward and their 88 gun in road hex W2. The Russians set up around R1. The 88 crew was quickly attacked and rolled boxed cars, so the Gun didn't have any role in the scenario. Lots of action from the German sniper, none from the Russian. The German halftrack reinforcement was burned right at its entry. A total of six German units went Berserk, which was not helpful in a scenario where they have to defend positions. In the end, the powerful Russian tanks blazed their way through the defense and Germans were defeated during their player turn 4. mestravis

The OverlookA very close call, going down to the final CC on the final turn. Despite having superior morale the Brits seemed to break at every opportunity and eventually ran out of places to rout to. I managed to destroy one tank with a PIAT but the hero was then cooked by the second Bis. I probably set up a bit too forward. Overall though it was an enjoyable scenario and one that would present differently each time it was played. Nicho11
Go Big or Go HomeSo, after a lot of discussion on the last time Rhys and I played this. Mainly based around the fact that if I rolled dice they were 7 or less most of the time. Conversely when Rhys rolled his they were 7 or more (with one exception being a CH on a moving French tank by a Panzer in motion..... Lets just say lots of impossible, But he still did it :-) ). But that did not win him the crackers as the French infantry were basically unharmed by turn 4 and he chucked in the towel

So, we decided to do exactly the same thing again. Well actually this time with Rhys hopping that the dice were not exactly the same.
Good news for him they weren’t .
He managed to drive forward in a methodical way, but continued to lose infantry ½ squad at a time. The French on the other hand lost troops mainly to being captured for failure to rout.
The armour battle went the way of the Germans in the middle of the game, he nailed two of the three FCM’s in a DFPh phase when I tried to move the platoon to a better position on the other side of the stream. But the Panzers Killed one and then Immobilised the other. And of course my brave French tankers jumped out instantly. Right into tank MG fire that broke them too…… Run away !!!!
But the last French tank (sans it CMG which had malfed) held on and held off the Germans. The ATG got moved into a building eventually. It got a shot at the tank with the now known AL inside. 1. Hit RoF Bounce 2. Hit RoF Bounce 3. Hit RoF Bounce 4. Malf !!! Argh !
The Germans got some Infantry across to bridge. But the MMG Pinned or broke a few more. And in the end there just weren’t enough German troops to threaten the 3 remaining French MMC that were scattered across the buildings. One was so far back, only 1 of the tanks could get to it
The final nail in the coffin for the Germans was a CC with the MMG/8-0 combo. Which the French won. This stymied the trust of the German troops forward. The others were just too far back to get fire on all of the French who were by now sitting and cowering under concealment counters

To the Last BulletDan' Germans massed their firepower and kicked my butt all over the place. My dice were south of horrible. In one D Fire streak, I rolled 5 x 10's in a row, followed by an 11 which broke my MMG, an LMG and allowed Dan's Germans to cross the street like a stroll in Paris. My personal ELR went to scenario and I was checked out of the remainder of the game. My dice never got any better and Dan was rolling 3's and 4's like he was eating Skittles. Pössl’s PossePlayed at the annual Burning Wreck BBQ. I got the attacking Russians versus Dave's Germans.

Dave set up very light forward but in Los so I was able to make a very successful opening turn human wave. I also found Dave's pak gun in the woods in the middle of the board. That gun did a little damage, taking out three Russian afvs before I eliminated the crew. Aggressively, I started claiming buildings, quickly grabbing five by turn three and pushing the Germans out.

It got tight towards the end with Dave's reinforcements coming on from the east and cutting off any big advances. I eliminated the all but one German afv thereby making the needed buildings 10. By the end of turn 5 the Russians had 9 but that tenth was proving to be difficult.

In the m last turn, a needed Russians squad missed rallying on a 9, which was a huge blow. During movement I decided that one lone building to the east could be reached by an afv and a few infantry units but this building was occupied by a German full squad. I froze the location with a t34/85. Several shots to eliminate it failed. I then ran a 628, 8-1 and 9-1 leader cx adjacent. Facing an ambush roll of +3 I took an advancing fire 6 +2, rolled a pair of 2 for a 1mc and the squad failed. Facing routing away, the 10th location was mine and the game was halted.

Great scenario.

Pössl’s PossePlayed at So Cal's Burning Wreck BBQ against Bryan (?).

I set up for a human wave on the Russian right. Its possible that I didn't have a KEU to target, but I ran into the German line and chewed it up some to push the line back to the hill feature.

My armored thrust went up the Russian left. The German hidden AT gun malf-ed on a intensive fire shot. This gave the Russians an opening to put tanks and infantry up on the lip of the hill. Germans faced the Russians with their reinforcements. Russians tried to winkle the German 1st line infantry out of their houses on the Russian right.

We enjoyed a good back and forth with lots of box cars and a good bloody fight. Russians took the necessary building locations on the top of the 5th and held off a counter attack by the Germans. Would play again.

SavnikGreat scenario and a really exciting game, won on the last DR of the last CCPh of the game! As the SS, my plan was to attack in the south, capture the buildings in the depression, then swing north to take the remaining buildings I needed. This generally worked, although helped by some very unlucky Partisan DRs early on, but the effect of ground snow made progress up and down the various levels very slow (stream in the depression is level -2!). Luck balanced out a bit later, with my OBA failing to secure any hits at all before the leader with the radio was shot dead by the Partisan sniper. I needed to win two CCs on the last turn to get 9 buildings; one was easy, the second was in my favour but could easily have gone wrong with HtH, fortunately it didn't. Andy_Bagley
Insurrection at CividaleThis looked an interesting scenario, and unusual in having Italians attacking German SS troops. It turned out to be a hard slog for the Italians however, especially with my MMGs and mortar getting multiple RoF and low DRs. I had my twoo MMGs on the second from of the level two building, also just put a couple of HSs in the front line and fell back with everyone else to defend the buildings. Get Them Out!A close game. The Germans had to watch their movement so as not to get eliminated instantly, although the French had something to say about it all. Some bad luck hurt the Germans with a few breaks, but the French tanks tbat acted as reinforced suffered an early loss thanks to snake eyes from the AT gun on the TK table!

Some back and forth in the turns saw the French suffer a decent VP deficit and I tried being aggressive as the Germans to balance things out. Some CC's broke out but they lost by 2 VP by the end of the scenario. I think the French should try to escape immediately, I stayed in the town to try for aome CVP but came up short.

Firstly, just visiting and using the site is great - thanks for being here. You can contribute in many ways, from simply entering data like logging your plays, or your collection - through to rating scenarios or writing reviews. The site does cost me about $100/month to host, which I've been happy to do for a number of years now, and will continue to do so. Don't worry - we're not going away! However, if you'd like to support further donations are welcome (and all donations go towards the costs of running the site) or you could become a Patreon supporter for all sorts of funky benefits! (More details on the Patreon page.)

Patreons and regular donators are signified with a checkmark
on some panels across the site.
