Priority Target	This scenario offers a unique situation for SK players up til now (SK1-SK2) with Germans being able to enter from any edge. The Brit/ANZAC/Greek player has to possibly defend from all sides. The Germans need to keep moving and engage in CC while the Allies need to avoid this as they are likely to be outnumbered. While locking in Melee might help the Allies, in preventing Germans from capturing the guns; it will limit the much needed fire opportunities for them to protect the guns. In our game the dice were very swingy with turns 2 & 3 were good for Germans, not so for the British. But then turns 5 and 6 got pretty bad for the Germans and way better for the Brits. Twilight of the Reich	Friday Night Fight Conceded Russian turn 2 prior to advances. Failed PMC big time, German forces were down to 3 squad equivalent, half of which were about to be involved in cc and the other half were conscripts. 8 PF attempts resulted in 2 pinned units, 3 successful checks 2 of which blew up in my hands. Grand Hotel Britannia	British put a superb performance on ,..... kill stack dominated front of building, rear of rubbled.... germans hid and tried to die slowly, a thrown DC from second floor failed to break a single squad in a 3 stack, but blew the german thrower into pieces with a snake eyes crit...thing were bleak .. brits just methodically isolated then deleted squad after squad. but with just 1 squad left, brits rushed it into combat in last turn after both placed DC failed to rubble a ground floor, but got ambushed and jerry nimbly dodged out of combat to stay in good order and undeservedly win the game!	chubooga
The Driven Draw Blood	We struggled to find how the British win this scenario. Defending Japanese/Burmese effectively delayed the British by orderly concession of upfront VC buildings. The turn 4 Japanese reinforcements are extremely strong. Because the British must defend so many VC buildings they are vulnerable to the inevitable Japanese counterattack(s). The Brit’s conceded after turn three (of 7) realizing that controlling the requisite buildings was highly unlikely.	Houlie

Rehearsal for Crete	Agree that the scenario is heavy tilted against the Allied forces. Some adjustment should be made to either either a) increasing the chaos of the paradrop (e.g. 2 of the 3.5 sticks must deviate) or b) reducing the amount of time the German Air Support remains on board. You can do the latter if you give the Germans an ATR or two. A combination of some of that might work. But it is an absolute blast to handle all the chaos that comes with the paradrops, and to see the small battles that develop across the huge playing area. I had one stick deviate to come down in the open on board 4 in front of a British 9-1 and HMG. Trying to get them to cover while also scrounging weapons was a deadly nightmare. And let's never forget the heroic efforts of British Lt. W. Anker in defense of the "Pomegranate Farm".	ubertripp
Burn Gurkha Burn!	Very good and exciting scenario. The Gurkha's started with a very forward defense. The Japanese were able to Banzai and take the north hill on turn 3. Game ended on the last CC.	slunts
Moreh Melee	Fun scenario but feels pro-Japanese. The Commonwealth troops are forced to set up dispersed and Eric's Japanese just swept them aside in the early going. The defence stiffened around the western buildings but the defenders had taken too many casualties to allow them to stem the Japanese charge.	Dougban
Clash at Borisovka	After an initial Russian push to gain some ground, the Germans moved in to hold theirs. The Russians guns quickly knocked out two PzIV's, but the German Tigers answered with knocking out one of the T-34s. The T-34's attempted to rush to cover their flanks, but were squeezed out by a Tiger supported by a PzIV which forced the T-34's to fall back and look for more favorable ground to cross. Unfortunately for the Russians, the Tigers made several solid shots knocking out two more Russian tanks. In a desperate attempt to change their fortunes, one T-34 rushed a PzIV to attempt a rear shot, but was immobilized and then wrecked by a Tiger on the hill. French Civil War in Gabon	There's just something about a scenario like this not having any smoke or means of protecting your advance into enemy lines. I had some luck with the Vichy AA gun, getting multiple crits against infantry, and my setup allowed for some LOS blindness to protect against the Free French mortar and MMG stack. Under different circumstances, the advance by the Free French could've enjoyed more success, but I'm not sure how much that changes the outcome...	Jobbo_Fett
Among the Ruins	Very enjoyable scenario which I'd like to revisit when my setup analysis gets better. The Germans setup all along the width and depth of the map. As expected, both 3rd-level locations were occupied by squads with HMG, MMG, and a negative leader. The gun was HIP in a rubbled important intersection, 20T1. I as American replied with a similar wide setup instead of concentrating my firepower and combined arms to try to overwhelm a front. That, together with moving my leaders forward instead of keeping some (or all) behind to help rally infantry, sealed my destiny. We called the game off at the end of Turn 6 when the Americans had only two Good Order squads, no leader, and a single tank with no functioning MA. Crushing American defeat, but I like this "old style", long and large scenarios and would recommend it for some urban fighting with combined arms and interesting setup decisions.	mestravis
Death's Head Debut	The 45Ls did a number on the tanks as they tried to move into the village. Quick shots, APCR and low TK rolls created a couple burning wrecks. The t-34s rumbled in and took care of the remaining infantry. I pretty much gave up the hill in favor of the village.	dmareske

Hart Attack	Fantastic scenario. Very back and forth with tons of exciting plays. I managed two overruns with my M3s on picket halfsquads that opened up my initial advace. LAte in the game, I successfully used a Gammon bomd to take out one of his tanks. I felt I was losing through the first 4 turns and then managed to turn things around. Oh, and melees abounded. Some dragged on for multiple turns, tying up precious units.	sushidog
No Safe Refuge	Even with the early gains, the main American group of forces where ground down to dust while trying to take S70 building without ever dislodging the Japanese from their Fortified locations. Once the outer VC buildings where instead being methodically pressed the Japanese Reinforcements constantly showing up in the rear became too much for the attackers to control.	Kydder
Welcome Back	Return match. The Americans concentrated most of their setup on the village towards the left. I as German didn't take advantage of that and also concentrated most of my forces there. But it's extremely tough to battle the Americans in several stone buildings with FTs, a MMG and their 10-2 leader. The right-hand front, with fewer defense units, was eventually neutralized but the Germans didn't have enough time to exit. Comfortable American win.	mestravis

Together We Will Raise This Flag	The Georgians weren’t exactly bold and left those poor cows in the meadow (perhaps that was a mistake, because it seems that, according to the rules, a cow charge is now more effective than an Armored Assault :) and took up defensive positions in Fauville. Supported by two Marders and the battalion’s OBA mortars, they hoped to muster 15 FP of firepower on the road—that’s just the PBF of two squads! They were to be aided by the battle-hardened men of the 1058th Luftlande, who were ordered to bypass the American positions at Sainte-Mère-Église and attack only south of the Roadblock. I decided this was the easiest and simplest way to win this tricky CG I. So the Germans ceded the initiative to Krause’s paratroopers, who, somewhat taken by surprise, cautiously began advancing toward Fauville. Despite the lack of any SW, the Americans’ firepower inflicted heavy casualties on the Georgians. Even with the ELR raised to 4, there were instances of shameful desertion and surrender. When American reinforcements arrived from the south, the game picked up pace. Unfortunately, the Shermans quickly dealt with my Marders; it seems the Georgians had also been neglected in their training to use Panzerfausts, and radio contact with OBA could not be established. By successfully employing white phosphorus and their advantage in close combat, the Americans methodically eliminated resistance points in the village along the main road. The arrival of the Luftlanders, who had been rushed in that afternoon, brought no improvement. They were held up and caught in an exchange of fire, which they were winning, but they were not advancing. Even before the gliders carrying the 319th Battalion landed, the Americans had eliminated all the Georgian defenders and captured Fauville. The wounded commanders and the few survivors took refuge in a grove to the east, unable and unwilling to fight. When the first gliders appeared in the sky, the Germans ceased fighting and retreated. The road to the beaches of Normandy remained in enemy hands. Mein Führer, how could I have failed you?! Summary: Great CG, worth replaying. Indeed, looking at the disparity in forces at the start, I still find it hard to believe that the Germans can’t meet the second VC. Adam, shall we play a second time?	Ireneusz

Guerra del Lampo	Messed up the Gun rules and gave the win to my opponent as a result. Its an odd scenario that, I think, is imbalanced in favor of the Italians. Optimal placement is required for the AA guns, as well as the Mortar - but the lack of concealment and the varied LOS that can be drawn really makes it tough to choose where to stand and fight. As a result, the Greeks must spread out to cover any opportunities to move past the line. This is also in conjunction with the Italians having 40 VP in vehicles starting on-board and able to get off the map whenever, and starting with 2 points for stone buildings, and earn CVP normally on top of that! The Italians need to avoid losses to their vehicles and try to grab prisoners against the Green Greeks.	Jobbo_Fett

The Badger's Breath	Friday Night Fight The early terrain makes this difficult for the Germans if the bottlenecks are defended well. My successes were along the northern edge where two of my STuGs punched through the wood along with half my troops. In the centre my forces met an impenetrable wall, although one squad and the 8-0 leader would eventually get through. Two STuGs malf'd their guns on their first shot, the other fell to the firefly when trying to speed over the hill road. Despite early setbacks I was able to force through to my last turn MPh before a pinning leader ended any hope for the Germans. (VASL Log)	Paul Legg

Rehearsal for Crete	Yes, notwithstanding the 17-4 record counseling otherwise, I was going to be 5th Commonwealth player to pull out a victory - NOT! Although the Germans North of the river were attritted upon insertion and bottled up for a few turns and the Commonwealth succeeded in grabbing the two Bridge hexes, it became clear by German Player Turn 6 that a concession was in order with an insurmountable CVP deficit, a tenuous hold on the Bridge, and lack of cover to Bridge to escape devastating aerial attacks. I do think the Scenario needs modification to get close to being balanced. Short of truly disastrous Glider/Paratroop insertions (which are hard to figure with only 2 Bofors) or very unlucky Sighting Task Checks/aerial attacks, the strength of German Air Support is overwhelming and renders much of the British reinforcements ineffectual. Perhaps a delay and/or reduction of reinforcing Air Support would do the trick. Nonetheless, scenario was a blast and a challenge both from tactics and rule mastery, so it is definitely worth playing.	Thompsonmg(MGT)

Coal in Their Stockings	Played in Round Two of the "Some Like it Hot" tournament. It was SLOW going in the early stages for the Americans but their armour is a great combination of speed, firepower and difficulty to hit, particularly when the opposition keeps rolling boxcars when shooting at them. The attackers managed to take down all of the German AFVs at a cost only two stunned vehicles, both of which survived. The only loss came at the end during a charge at the German HMG position when small target size proved to be irrelevant against an ATMM. Fun scenario that I would be happy to play with either side. D-Day on the Ising River	Filipinos used cover of the jungle to place their pontoons in the south and cross fairly safely (losing only a HS), while the rest of their force plopped into the river. I sprung an HIP trap too soon and lost a HS and LMG. Ami plane was already circling above. Not that there was much repositioning for the defense anyway as, other than the southern jungle, most everybody just clung to their huts and buildings, without even much room for skulking. Turn 2 was pretty quiet, with the Filipinos only losing a hero, and by the end of the turn most of their force was already across. Turn 3 saw a few more fireworks, as the Filipinos moved up on the first row of buildings and pushed their way through the jungle. The japs had some bad luck, breaking their mortar, a MMG, striping a squad and losing a HS. The Filipinos lost a squad. Turn 4 was a disaster for the Japs as their jungle fortress collapsed, losing four squads to one for the Filipinos plus an 8-1. Four buildings and a PB were captured, leaving only 2/3 buildings two hexes away needing to be captured in three turns. Yay. Turn 5 saw more blood, as the last remnants of the Jap jungle guard were dispatched. So another 1.5 squads and a 9-1 were lost vs. a squad of Filipinos. The plane finally decided to strike, striping a Jap MMG crew. Turn 6 saw the still-hidden Jap AA gun fail miserably in keeping the Filipinos from grabbing another hut. The Filipinos lined the street in preparation of their assault on the required S6. Another 1.5 squads and MMG died for the Jap cause vs. another squad of Filipinos. The Japs managed to stack S6 with two full-strength 347s, a HS, and an 8-0. Turn 7 PFPh wounded the 8-0, broke the HS, and ELR/striped both squads. When these both cowered trying to kill the Filipino 9-2 I thought it was game, but AFPh caused no further damage, and the Filipinos were limited by space on how much they could bring into CC. Having ambushed the conscript Japs, and needing only a 10 to fully eliminate all, they rolled an 11. The leader was killed, and a squad CR'd, but the Japs held on with 1.5 squads of men. With all kinds of time, some monstrous firepower, and backed by the superfluous plane, I'd take the Filipinos every time. I still have yet to play a DFB PTO scenario that is any good.	buser333
Seton Block	The DC heroes were not a factor. When a unit moves two hexes in the mud for 3 MF, that's 6 for the hero. He is 2 left. Unless the MMC is adjacent to the target, it can't happen. We struggled with that rule. The key for the Chinese defense was the 75 gun. I placed the gun in G7 facing F6-7. The Chinese must set up forward and resis the tempation to stand and fight for the first two turns.	Larry
Liehr Launches First	As the map doesn't leave much room for subtlety or the indirect approach (other than a northward 'left hook', which I didn't think was feasible in the time alloted), I made my main attack straight up the middle with my elite troops (each 548 had an LMG) backed by both MMGs manned by 467s and Mk4s firing Smoke. My first Prep Fire had little effect despite massive firepower. Even so, with the American forward defense fixed in place, my flanking force of two Panthers and a platoon of infantry drove south, bypassing "The Fort" and moving for the objective hexes. That persuaded the Americans to give ground. Significant moments were the sacrifice of one of my Mk4s to break up a fire lane to get my infantry into "The Fort" (he was lost to a hidden M10) -- sad but worth it. Another key moment was the creation of an 8-1 leader while eliminating the American 9-1 and squad in CC. Last but certainly not least, Steve malf'd the MA on an M10 and a reinforcing M18. Although he repaired the MA on the M10 a Panther got a point-blank shot on it, resulting in a burning wreck. The M18 with the malf'd MA suffered the same fate, thanks to the armor leader. The dice gods smiled on me and created a Hero while rallying a broken 467. The hero then ran down the main street (Rue Principale) until he took a bullet, wounding him but preventing the rout of three broken American squads. With the odds now heavily favoring the Germans, we called it a German win.	Agoldin

Action at Kilometer Post 3	The British just set up in full view of the German's entering from offboard and pummel them as they enter/move. There's no real saving grace for the Germans, outside of hoping for terrible rolls from your opponent. The fact that you can get rate of fire AND intensive AND there's no incentive to move rather than shoot more in the British PFPh just means that the German chance of winning is near impossible. Hussars and Hounds	I rarely say I diced someone, but my dice were pretty good and the German dice were definitely above average, though a couple 2s kept the Germans in it until the end. The HIP JgPz took out one tank but then was eliminated in CC, the other fell to an bounding fire shot where both sides took their shots at the same time, tied Gun Duel. My APDS shot landed the German shot over my tank. Came down to the final Advancing Fire phase in order to break the remaining German infantry, which was accomplished.	dmareske

Holding Korte	Defense mostly back in the village Slugger and one Sherman on a hill another Sherman HD behind walls in the village center. Aggressive attack up the main road, lots of riders. Biggest event in T1 was that a Panther took out the Sherman on the hill with bounding fire shot. Lost a PzIV when it failed to smoke itself. I got good rolls on most tank shots and took out Sluggo when it popped over the hill thinking it was behind some woods. That let both Panthers take down the Sherman in the village while the 8 MG factor PzIVs made life miserable for the US infantry. Lost a Panther to the last sherman which found a timely APCR round and put it into my turret. Opponent conceded whent i had a HS survive 2 main gun hits, all 10 MG factors, and a squad prep fire on it and only pin. It administered the coup-de-grace at 2 hexes into the last Sherman in US T4. On the Kokoda Trail	I had two of my three groups enter on the west of Board 37, and one on the north edge of Board 34. The northern most of the Board 37 were the elite guys, who were going to run up the middle to support the Board 34 advance. Everyone was to avoid engagement and press for the VC area. This worked well, with the mortars SMOKEing important hexes and the Japanese squads moving on despite fire and striping. By the time the Turn 5 Aussie reinforcements came on, they were trying to counterattack a winning Japanese force. Good Japanese dice rolls prevented that from working. It was done by the end of Turn 5, with 25 Japanese Exit VP in the VC area.	ubertripp
Galician Persuasion	Lots of smoke from the big mortar and Zrinyii. Defense was a festung on the far side of the river but the mortar and Zrinyii were too much Opponent popped a couple of them with T-34 shots but I was able to get into the village and soak up enough FP to move my flamethrower up and take out two of the T34. With 5 of the 6 hexes Axis controlled opponent conceded in turn 5. We both had fun - good toys for both sides. Axis probably has a bit of an advantage with all the smoke opportunities. Death's Head Debut	Lost my 9-2, a HS and had 3 squads broken in my first prep fire phase to the Russian sniper. In T1 movement he took another HS off the map and broke a couple more squads. Despite that I was able to get into the village and get a squad in CC. My tanks with all the MG firepower pretty much cleared the hills by themselves despite at least a dozen 45L ATG hits that never did anything. He shocked a Pz4 with an ATR hit into rear turret but it came back next turn. Pretty close game as he had several squads left in the village but after 2 T34 MA malfs he conceded due to time in Ax turn 5. GrumblerKC26	nebel

I was making some progress through the village, but by the end of the Soviet fourth turn I had only about 4 good order units left and one SU-76 while the Germans were sitting pretty (I did manage to take out his 75*. The Fifth's Rearguard	Doug's assault was slow and steady, but my German's hung around until turn 6. I had a chance to win, but had to cross open ground and survive with a half squad (which pinned) while my three other squads were either caught in close combat, failed to rally in the last turn, or broke in the final movement phase. It was a fun scenario and I would definitely play it again.	geebeehaitch

Bastion Bodange	Very interesting scenario featuring early-war tin cans. Germans have a lot to do and were hampered by terrible dice. A bad combination. I’d say the Belgian has the edge in this one.	Houlie

Ambush!	Not particularly interesting for the Partisan player as most of their units stay static during the game. Enjoyable once the Bulgarians start moving.	cscottk
St. Kilian's Bloody Sword	Germans easily swept through and quickly controlled all Factories. Remaining defenders were then crushed by both sides.	Kydder
West of the Merderet	Germans could not endure the relentless MCs inflicted on them. With rout paths restricted it didn't last long.	Kydder
Hit It & Quit It	A poor German setup meant that the Partisans had an easy time wrecking three trucks and eliminating infantry via Close Combat. It seemed that it was game over but the Germans kept some strong defensive positions and, with the help of reinforcements, managed to hold until the end. It was the last CCPh that decided the German victory. Partisan VPs: 18. Important caveat: this was played before the Perry sez clarification that trucks could be combated normally in CC, not automatically captured as per A11.52. We played as if they would be captured if engaged alone in CC, so the Partisans had to wreck them with small arms and MOLs.	mestravis
Black Devils of Bure	Alan set up well back, allowing my Germans relatively unimpeded progress for two and perhaps three turns. I lost one panzer to a rate tear by a Canadian MTR. I did get two CH with my tanks, both of us created a leader and I was lucky to get a hero. Alan chose the 9-2 group, and hid the 9-2 with a squad and MMG. I tend to want to get a 9-2 into the action asap. The VC are a bit quirky. We thought part of the VC was to get 6 MMC CVP off the board, but a closer read shows it's 6 MMC _counters_. This was a really, really good scenario. The Germans can be a bit aggressive with their panzers, but not too aggressive of course. The Canucks are the tough 458 variety and difficult to dislodge. My only minor quibble was the non-standard VC. Getting a certain number of CVP off makes sense to me, but a certain number of counters? I would highly recommend this scenario and would gladly play it again.	Indy Lagu

Earning Face	Both of the Japanese MMG started HIP. One of the MMG was in the church steeple and had a wonderful field of fire. The Japanese had low rolls during the first turn, after that the rolls seemed average or high. Game called at end of Chinese turn 3 because the Chinese did not have enough strength left to win. The Bears of St. Denis	First round game in Hex and Violence tournament. Jamie came up with a defensive set up with all three AFVs on the hill on the German right flank. From there they were well placed to interdict the British as they tried to cross the board. An attempt to attack the hill was high risk and I chickened out. Thereafter a brilliant German defence, aided by great accuracy by the assault guns simply chewed up the attack and it never really threatened to clear the victory buildings.	Dougban

Earned, Not Given	Amis were probably a bit too aggressive here, losing a full squad and BAZ on Turn 1 running into the hidden ART. The remaining HIP Japs all sprung up to try and hold off the Amis in the west. The eastern force did what the Amis should do from the get-go: assault move/advance. With a whopping 7 turns and only needing to move 7-8 hexes to accomplish their easy VC, they should be doing this with their entire force. Some terrible advancing fire allowed the Japs to only have to break and run one crew/MMG (already broken using sustained fire). Amis continued to be overly aggressive on Turn 2, suffering a staggering 5.5 broken squads and one squad KIA. Only one of the three CCs they initiated went in their favor, eliminating and capturing the other crew/MMG, but allowing the gun crew to sneak behind them setting up an encirclement opportunity, and another squad to get behind the lines in the east. When their broken 7-0 failed to rally, he and the 1.5 squads with him were surrounded to force a surrender. Meanwhile the encirclement vs. the 2 squads/9-1 was only partially successful, breaking one of the squads. But the subsequent sniper roll finished the job by breaking the remaining squad. With literally half their squads now eliminated, the Amis threw up the red flag. Give me the Amis every time in this one.	buser333
Chance Encounter	A very strange setup to this scenario where you have to roll dice and then only move for the first turn, along a predetermined route. You could save yourself some time with a pair of possible setups based on who wins the die roll. In either case, its such a tiny scenario where the first person to move has the advantage, since there's no real cover to hide in. The "regular" ASL scenario at least has dust and heat haze, while this one mysteriously does not. The world wonders...	Jobbo_Fett
My God, Did You See Who They Were...	A small unit size scenario where going first is based on a dice result (all units are placed in specific hexes, with very little leeway. I feel like its such a tiny scenario where the first person to move has the advantage, since there's no real cover to hide in. At least you won't suffer for very long!	Jobbo_Fett

A new publisher in the shop!

Le Franc Tireur have joined the ranks of third party publishers who will be selling digital packs on the shop.

Their first publication in English (and some French!), LFT #8, is now available via LFT #8's publication page and features both the 90+ page magazine and 10 scenarios, for $24.

LFT are trialling the service and if there's enough interest he will be adding many more publications, so if you can support them either through words of encouragement or by purchasing the pack, we have more digital content to look forward to!

The Publications page has had a minor face-lift and I've amended the scenario recommendations to exclude scenarios recommended that have the same name as scenarios you've already played before.

Site updates!

There's some updates to the scenario pages and the "My Page" that help find fun scenarios to play, based on other player's recommendations.

On the scenario page, you can see other scenarios that have been rated highly, based upon user ratings who have rated the initial scenario highly. (It's all a bit complex but it does try to quell the problem of good, popular scenarios outranking lesser played scenarios that might have a higher correlation).

On your "My Page" I've updated the games played and the publications owned tables to be a little more useful, and made an effort to speed up the rendering of the page, too. There's also a scenario recommender on there that takes into account scenarios that you have rated highly, and the input of other players - and checking that you haven't already played that scenario before (no promises on scenarios that have been released multiple times though, currently!)
