Overview:

The Operation “Chastity” offensive was planned to gain control of the large harbors of Brest and Lorient whose facilities were needed to provide the logistical support the Allies would need to drive across France. General Ramcke and the 2nd Fallschirmjäger Division were primarily responsible for the defense of Brest. Ramcke formed a defensive line five miles from the center of the city. Loyal to the Führer, he directed the fallschirmjägers to hold the line to the last man. It was not until August 23rd, when three Infantry Divisions from the VIII Corps arrived, that the Americans had enough strength to actually begin the offensive. The small town of Plouzané was the first objective of the 175th Infantry Regiment of the 29th Infantry Division. They attacked Plouzané, held by fallschirmjägers and a marine unit from the Brest Naval Base.
Attacker: American (2nd Batt., 175th Inf. Regiment, 29th Inf. Division)

2023-09-28(A) Klara Kundzicz vs Benjamin Steinberg German winI dont remember much from this scenario, except that it was a bit boring...
2023-06-19(D) Justin DiSabatino vs Self German winThe Germans set up in row R with 5-4-8/LMG pairings for FP efficiency. Given their starting hexes gave them the ability to cover the American advance and the crossroads at Q4, most of the Americans set up opposite the Germans to fix them in place while a few American squads attempted to flank through the orchard to take the multi-hex building in the south. This effort to turn the defense failed miserably as the Americans pinned multiple times despite the high DRM for the Germans firing through the orchard. American momentum stalled until turn 5, but by then it was too late.
2023-01-09(A) Terrence Dorsey vs Solo German winReplay on board Y per errata. Pretty much a slaughter all around. Germans won on VP.
2023-01-05(A) Terrence Dorsey vs Solo German winPlayed board Z. Found it very challenging to make progress as US.

(VASL Log)
VASSAL dice drive me crazy! Very good scenario, but I am far from any "Enjoyment"!
2020-12-01(D) Igor Stolyarenko vs Igor Lukyanov German winI made a mistake with the initial placement, but fortune was favorable to the beginner. I thank my mentor, Igor Lukyanov.
2020-11-05(D) Craig Renier vs Dennis Freeberg German winThe American advanced slowly on a broad front. With careful movement he was able to capture the first row of 7 building hexes. But his slow movement and a CC that lasted 2 turns left him behind the clock. With only a slim chance of capturing the final required building hexes, the Americans had to make hazardous moves that ended badly. The game was called in Turn 6.
2020-11-02(D) Craig Renier vs Steve Boro American winThe American forces attacked entirely on the German left flank, which was weakly defended. The German player shifted forces to compensate, but was limited by open terrain and overwhelming American firepower. The German defense on the left held the main building through Turn 3, but then collapsed under the heavy pressure. The German player conceded in Turn 5.
2020-10-25(A) Craig Renier vs Steve Boro American winThe American center of gravity focused on the German right flank with a feint on the left. After Turn 3, the American forces were able to cross the first road on the German right and capture the front line building on the German left, but both adversaries had their initial forces intact. Starting Turn 4, the American fire was finally able to break some German MMCs allowing a quicker advance. The Americans attained victory conditions before the final turn and the German player conceded.
2020-07-09(D) M T vs N.N. German winPlayed using map Y as suggested by the designer. The Germans managed to contain the American advance through careful use of defensive terrain. Nice and quick playing scenario.

2019-03-27(A) David Garvin vs Brian Mckinley German winMy dice were horrid. On 8 Infantry Smoke placement attempts, 1 succeeded and I rolled 6 three times.
3 of the 9 CVP were from casualty morale checks. Ha!
But I had fun and was only a DR or dr away from turning his flank.
2019-02-22(A) Kermit Mullins vs Scott Waites German winHonestly unenjoyable game of watching my Americans break early and often. Couldn’t hurt the Germans and so lost. Did manage to take 11 of the required 15 building hexes despite getting my butt kicked.
2018-10-08(D) O Ramaille vs German winPlayed with map Y as suggested by designer. The GI's were quickly stopped by accurate fire from the nearby buildings of Plouzané. From the grain where they were hiding, the Americans launched a series of assaults that went unsuccessful. With only one stone building captured and a heavy number of GI's dead or routed, the capture of Plouzané failed.
A German victory with 11 VPs out of 9 needed.
Map Y seems to favour German defense in my opinion.
2017-05-18(A) Louis Langdeau vs Andrew S American winAndy set up far forward, and I pushed in right off the start. I ended up managing to turn his flanks with some superior American firepower, despite having my 8-0 (PYLE!) get ELRed on turn 1. After the flanks started to cave in, I walked down the line breaking units, while a few squads crossed over and began seizing buildings. Andy conceded when it became obvious I would get enough buildings, and that he wouldn't be able to stop me. Fun scenario. I think it would work as a good intro to how to run a defense by stalling the attackers.
2017-05-18(A) Seumas Hoskins vs Dean American winRough first half, having several Americans break early on (including both squads with MMGs) and then box cars on two of the rally attempts slowed the assault. A squad of Germans tried to creep out hoping to snipe some shots on the broken stack but got caught under MMG fire when the squads rallied with him in the open. A heavy push north swung the match quickly towards the Allies as building hexes started changing hands. Match ended turn 6 with Americans holding 17 buildings and only 2 good order germans squads left in range to contend.

2017-02-22(D) Paolo Cariolato vs Marco Ferrari German win
2016-12-27(A) Jeff B vs Bronson Barnhart American win2.25 hrsThis one seems very difficult for the attacking Americans. Fragile 6 morale troops vs stout 8 morale defenders, all while having to cross at least a couple streets without dashing or half squads in very little time. I felt extremely fortunate to come away with a victory in this one.
2016-08-10(D) Tom Abromaitis vs Brandon B. American win

2014-06-03(D) Lee Hyde vs Steve Ambruzs American winSmallish scenario and great fun. Just wish my guys could actually hit something, but to be fair the shooting was dreadful pretty much all game for us both. But for the dice finally becoming hot in T5, the Axis might still have won it.
2014-01-30(A) Merric Blackman vs Michael Elshaug American winManaged to sneak around the bottom corner of the defense whilst the bulk of the troops were caught up shooting each other in Prep fire.
2013-11-23(A) Michael Focht vs David Garber American win
2013-04-01(A) Dmitry Klyuykov vs Anna Aleksanyan American winGood to train the attack, as German are not dense in defence.
2012-11-11(D) Russell Dewhurst vs David German winSimple static German defence mostly. Americans advanced in with a little use of smoke, rolled badly, broke repeatedly. Four German squads at the end.
2011-08-02(A) O Ramaille vs American winIn this second play. The GI were massed together to perform a mass assault against the german line defense. This achieved a complete victory with no german units on board before the end of the game and control of more than 15 stone buildings. The GIs killed a lot of german troops in closed combat.
2011-08-01(A) O Ramaille vs German winS7 Prelude to Festung Brest
Interesting scenario where Fallschirmjaeger formed a line to defend against US troops and delayed them quite efficiently. But the last turn the US launch an assult and has the opportunity to win if he kills or brokes all remaining MMC. It was the only option to win because they controled 5 building hexes far from the 15 required. Close combat finally decided that the german win the day !
2010-11-10(D) Kermit Mullins vs Scott Waites American winAnother defeat...Dice are killing me!!! Good game though.

2009-01-15(D) Malcolm Lowe vs Criss M German winVery good. A few interesting swings - this could have gone either way. In the end the US ran out of time...
