2023-09-10 | (D) Vic Lauterbach | vs | JM | | German win | Jim drew the Germans in this early war fight and took the balance. We both read the journal analysis, so I went with a modified "hold the final 5" defense but put both MGs on the hill (50M5 and 50Q8) hoping they'd break 468s moving in OG (they didn't). Jim sent two tanks after the HMG and lost one but the other broke the MMC and killed my 9-1 in an OVR. My weak armor held its own against Jim's even weaker armor but couldn't help my infantry except for a PB shot by one Vickers dual turret tankette. The key was Jim driving three MMCs out of building 17oU7 in GT4. After that I didn't have enough GO MMC to retake buildings even if I'd had the chance. I should have parked all my tankettes next to buildings. Jim: It looks tough for the Germans to cross a board and take 10+ buildings in just six turns, but my 468s passed the MCs and did it (ended with 14 buildings). The armor fight was mainly a sideshow, but my Panzers killed two Polish tankettes going for OVRs. We agreed this one deserves its classic status. |

2023-02-19 | (A) Dave Mareske | vs | Ryan Ellet | | German win | A tight short game that proved to come down to the last turn and CC phase. The Poles were able to wreck two tanks at the start with HMG. This slowed down the German attack, but the GER infantry proved strong and the Poles broke and ran. A final rally by the Poles made the game much closer as the Poles moved into buildings the Germans needed to take. Exciting game. |
2023-02-18 | (A) Craig Renier | vs | Peter Dunn | | Polish win | The German attack focused on the Polish left flank rushing forward on the motorcycles. The Poles placed their HMG on the top of the hill covering the approaches while still able to skulk. The Germans were able to lay smoke aiding in covering their movement. The Germans struggled in their attempts to suppress the HMG, but eventually cleared the hills. The Poles wrecked a German armored car and shocked a Pz II early on, slowing the German advance. With the hill cleared, the Germans pushed up the center and Polish left, finally breaking the Polish 9-1 and MMC with MMG. The defense buckled under the pressure, but successive German hits on the Polish armor routinely failed to obtain a kill while the Poles were able to pick off a German AFV or two. A German half squad attempted to skirt past the defenders on the west side in order to cross the bridge and gain easy control of two buildings. However, a broken Polish MMC self rallied and moved back to the top of the hill to regain possession of the HMG. At the same time a Polish Vickers Edw moved to protect those buildings while also covering the approaches to a far north building. The Germans returned to the hill pulling valuable resources away from the objectives. A lone Polish SMC maneuvered skillfully, avoiding CC while denying the Germans control of the multihex building in the center. And the last Polish squad held out in a stone building. No amount of attacks could shake the Poles. The Germans entered CC on Turn 5, losing one MMC while not causing any losses. On Turn 6, the Germans finally gained control of the multi hex wooden building. Control of the 12th building hinged on the result of a CC 3:2 -1 roll. On the last roll of the last phase of the last turn, the Germans rolled a 9 handing the Poles a win. |
2022-11-27 | (A) Shane Pask | vs | | | Polish win | A combination of poor tactics and poor dice rolls sunk the Germans. Their sniper was killed turn 1 while the Polish sniper went on a spree, both AC guns were disabled (1 on turn 1), one truck was burned with the 9-1, MMG and ATR in it. Conceded turn 5 with only 1 building under control and no hope of even reaching another 11 (maybe 5 were possible). |
2021-05-31 | (A) Asad Rustum | vs | Marc Hanna | | Polish win | The Germans were given the balance provisions. The game was very close in the end and was finally won by the Poles thanks to a well played defence by Marc. Great scenario! |
2021-01-20 | (D) Mike Grogan | vs | Tim Wiegmann | | German win | A close run game with a very aggressive German player, including running 2 motorcycle squads through significant Polish fire, without a scratch and capturing 2 rear buildings. |
2021-01-14 | (A) Andy Bagley | vs | Neil Brunger | | Polish win | Very exciting game with the Germans coming up just short in the end, with 10 buildings rather than the 12 I needed. Neil had some interesting luck: I lost one tank to an ATR critical hit, another in CC where he needed a DR of 3 and got snakeyes, and one of his leaders battle hardening twice! But I had some luck too, and it was Neil's excellent defence that really made the difference, placing his units in excellent positions and completely fooling me as to where is dummies were. |

2020-05-11 | (A) Pascal Boileau | vs | Doba Serge | | Polish win | A tremendous game for a great scenario ! The Poles won but it was really short. The German troops were installed in 11 buildings and controlled 10 of them at the end game. Some of these buildings were taken from the poles by one courageous HS. In addition, this valiant squad captured the pole MMG and destroyed the Vickers with a CH at turn 4. Then, leaving the malfunctioned MMG, he grabbed the ATR and immobilized a second AFV. Sadly, he was KIA on his attempt to reach the twelfth building... Real heroes never came back. |

2017-08-03 | (A) Jeff B | vs | Martin Marquis | | German win | The Germans managed to grab three buildings on their last turn to hit 13 and the win, but I think this one is a bit tough for them. They do not have a lot of time, and the Poles have just enough in heavy weaponry and vehicles to make the going very difficult. In our game the dice were quite lopsided in favor of the Germans but, even with that, it went right down to the end. |
2017-02-13 | (D) patrick palma | vs | Sergio Diaz | | Polish win
2016-04-17 | (A) Andy Beaton | vs | Martí Cabré | | German win | Hard to say whose luck was worse, Marti couldn't shoot straight and I couldn't keep a vehicle weapon working. Came down to a mad scramble at the very end for a close finish. An excellent scenario. You really need to reach into your bag of tricks for this one. |
2016-04-17 | (D) Martí Cabré | vs | Andy Beaton | | German win | This early war scenario was really weird. The German player recalled a score of vehicles for breaking his guns, he had such a strike of boxcars and 11s rolled, while the Polish player failed almost every shot for the first 4 turns, allowing the Germans to close in to the buildings. But the Germans must take 12 buildings, which are a lot, and in the end they needed to make use of all combined arms, using bypass freeze to bypass strong positions and max out double time movement to reach the last building on the last advance phase of the game. The Polish armor delayed the Germans a little, but was not decisive. Such a close game! |
2016-02-28 | (A) Ron Garcia | vs | Darryl M. | | German win
2015-08-08 | (A) Jim Kloss | vs | Bob Eury | | Polish win | The fact that all of the German AFV's MA had B11#'s had a major impact on the outcome of this battle. The malf's started on my very first attack DR! By turn 4, all of the German AFV'S were MA disabled, immobilized, wrecked, or abandoned. The poles executed a brilliant pincers move with their reinforcing armor by entering each group on a different board edge. By the time the German Schwerpunkt made it into the village on board 17, they were about to be trapped in a vise.
Though defeated, I still had fun! A panzer IVD, my kingdom for a panzer IVD! |
2014-09-14 | (A) Gordon Jupp | vs | Nick Holmshaw | | Polish win | We turned the scenario around and I had a go at attacking - I decided to mount most of the infantry and charged down the board 50 road - they got through and proceeded to start seizing buildings in the Polish rear area BUT my armour got mauled by the 2 Polish MG's who both had mutiple rate tears and rolled well to deal with all but two of the AFV's by turn 3! I did manage to get up close to the main part of the village but with the MG's still active and all of the Polish tanks still running I was unable to get there, good play by Nick! |
2014-09-14 | (D) Gordon Jupp | vs | Nick Holmshaw | | Polish win | Really good scenario with loads happening, Nick dedided not to use the motorcycles and ended up coming up a bit short as he got held up by my HMG on the hill. Both sides suffered from multiple armament breakdowns on the AFV's, but great fun! |
2012-10-04 | (D) Michael Rodgers | vs | Dave Deresinksi | | German win
2012-06-22 | (D) Michael Rodgers | vs | Bruno L'Archeveque | | Polish win | We had a wild game with many broken main armaments. Germans had the balance. At game end, they had 9 buildings and needed to win a CC for the tenth. The Poles won. |
2012-02-23 | (A) Bob Callen | vs | Paul Allen | | German win | Was able to turn Paul's flank on the board edge opposite the hill, and he conceded about halfway through. As the defender, he did not setup anything up in the level 1 locations in the village, so I was on him in turn 1. His MMG was too far back on the hill to provide flanking fire, and his HMG squad role under heavy fire in turn 2, giving me a lot of freedom to move, including flanking I through the woods and eliminating the best leader and two squads for failure to rout. |
2011-05-05 | (D) Lars Nordström | vs | Laurent Lebillan | | German win
2011-04-03 | (D) Paul Messina | vs | David Hassler | | Polish win | A fascinating and wonderful scenario. David had the upper hand at the start advancing deep into the battle space without taking any casualties. As the Polish commander, I was very fortunate to be able to inflict some havoc after recovering from the initial assault. My MMG on the hill scored a 3KIA late in the game that sealed the German's fate but overall, this was in my opinion, a well played game on both sides! A must play! |
2011-03-11 | (D) Paul Legg | vs | Phil Draper | | German win | Heroes 2011 |
2010-11-13 | (D) Andy Beaton | vs | | | German win | Lousy use of my armour may have sealed my fate. |
2010-10-09 | (A) nathan wegener | vs | Mike I | | Polish win | Loads of early war fun. Very close game had to concede to time limitations. I was rolling up the Polish infantry but the German Panzers were no match for the mighty tiny's... ASLOK 2010 |
2010-09-11 | (D) Paolo Cariolato | vs | pagni | | German win | it went down to the wire. Fascinating scenario. |
2010-08-10 | (D) Paul Jones | vs | Ian Daglish | | German win | Germans overran the poor Poles who broke and ran for the hills. Some shart shooting Panzers completed the rout. |
2010-08-01 | (A) X von Marwitz | vs | Jürgen Jürgensen | | Polish win
2010-03-29 | (D) David Ramsey | vs | Martin Barker | | Polish win | Great game. Polish held on thanks to some good rolling at the end of the game from the HMG. Our first cellar dwelling tank too! |
