Company L of the 7th Marine Regiment was the left anchor of the Marines’ swing to the southeast to flank the Japanese defenders of Hill 600 and Borgen Bay. “Love” Company was the first to stumble upon a small stream that was unmarked on the maps issued for the attack. As the Marines climbed through the fallen trees and into the muddy stream, the far bank erupted with a heavy volume of machine gun and small arms fire. The area was heavily fortified, and Col. Katayama of the 141st Infantry Regiment had chosen this small stream to begin his defense of the western end of New Britain.
Attacker: American (USMC) (Company L, 2nd Battalion, 7th Marine Regiment)
A US win with a slow and careful slog across the creek. Diligent use of the OBA helps keep the IJA away from the creek bank. Finally, keeping track of the IJA units (HiP, dummies, concealed, pillboxes, cellars, etc.) helps one's confidence when moving against them in the dense jungle. Don't forget the mud.

Enjoyable for me, but the Japanese had a hard time with this one. Maybe he setup too far back, but also had some rotten morale checks.

Lots of fun. A very messy struggle through terrible terrain and worse weather. Came down to a two turn long melee in and around a Japanese pillbox. The scenario probably favors the Americans-- I'd give the Japanese the balance if I were to play it again.

Better run through this time. Japanese MMGs and HMG broke at first use, which did not help. Nice little scenario, lots happening.

This was fun, although we realized after the fact that we really didn't understand stream LOS. Given that the bunkers could have seen way more of the stream, the Japanese are potentially much more effective.

CH on Japanese pillbox by USMC OBA combined with quick unmasking of 3 HIP Japanese pillboxes decided the scenario for the US. Some quite dramatic action!

I could only roll Original 5s (SAN) or Final 11s the whole game. Also one of my few experiences in PTO.

Got blown away by the awesome USMC firepower and a board edge creep for the 'exit' vp. Felt tough on the Japanese even without the OBA which danced out of LOS of the radio man all scenario.
