Overview:

The receding day witnessed renewed all-out assaults against the Barrikady and Krasny Oktyabr factories as the Germans flailed away in pouring rain at the fanatical Soviet defenders in their well-fortified positions. Little headway was made, but much blood was shed. On 22 October, German pressure versus the Barrikady and Krasny Oktyabr factories was intensified as Gen. Paulus dug deeper into his barrel and committed the relatively fresh Infanterie Division 79. Reinforced by armor, troops of the 305th, 389th and 79th Divisions staged vicious thrusts at both factories in pouring rain. On the hills to the west of Stalingrad the season's first snow was falling.
Attacker: German (Infantry Division 389 with Panzer-Division 24)

2024-01-06(A) Kermit Mullins vs Dan Best German winTypical in your face Stalingrad fight. The Germans got battered a bit, but still managed to secure Hall 7 and two other mulit-hex buildings for the win.

2021-01-13(D) Kevin Sanders vs Jason Littleton Russian winClose battle, down to the last turn. A few mistake and odd luck roll on both sides. Russians pushed the Germans out of one of the main factories. The German retaliation few just short. Lots learnt on both sides. Good game.
2019-05-01(A) Jeff B vs Steve Etzelmueller German winRussian defense sure looked daunting after setup, and the Germans had many opp fire markers throughout the game. Mines in front of/in the main approaches to both VC buildings made things even harder. The main thing is, in such close quarters, time is not of absolute essence. So the attacker can afford to soften up the defense before pushing in for the kill. It also helps to have some big bullies on your side in the form of four StuGs. Russians suffered a major blow on the opening turn when a sniper picked off their 10-2 who was leading the HMG nest. To give an indication of the intensity of the first turn, about 60% of our logs in the 3.5 turns we played took place in the first turn! The Russians just could not stand up to the sheer might of the Germans, averaging over 3 dead squads each turn. The Germans, for their part, suffered few casualties, and the Russians conceded during Turn 4. Probably not much fun to play this as the Russians.
2019-03-11(A) Tom Kearney vs Alan Saltzman German winThe Russians had the balance that made their troops fanatic while in a factory. I attacked with the Germans and disguised my objective until the Russian reserves were committed. Despite being struck by four consecutive “big snipers” the Germans managed to prevail. A rate tear by the StuG with the 9-2 was a big help.
