Overview:

As the Russian 8th Guards Army was expanding its bridgehead on the Vistula, they met with stiff German resistance. The Germans mounted a number of counterattacks in an effort to eliminate the Russian toehold on the west bank, leading with the Hermann Goering Division, which had just been brought up from Warsaw. After six German attacks failed to achieve the needed breakthrough, a seventh assault supported by Tiger tanks forced the situation to its inconclusive end.

2023-01-21(D) Jim Bishop vs Alessandro Demichelis German winIMO, this is a bad scenario. It has been rebalanced (A134) but still remains pretty pro-German. As long as the Germans remain loaded in ht's they have too much mobility for a 9 turn game. Even if they don't remain mobile, all they have to do is get into the Gully, under a bridge hex and Abandon for the win. Not a scenario I will every play again.
2021-07-17(D) Kevin Duval vs Dwayne Duval Russian winUsed German balance. Strong forward defense caused mayhem early on, racking up many CVP, but losing all units in P6 building after the dust settled. Weak units left to defend the Bridges but the SU-122 got off a lucky side shot vs an 88L and clinched the CVP needed to deny German victory.
2021-07-17(A) Dwayne Duval vs Kevin Duval Russian win
2021-05-03(D) Asad Rustum vs Jacob Elmqvist Russian winGreat scenario with lots of options for the Russians and the Germans. The Germans cleared 4P6 by turn 7 but lost to the casualty cap not far after that.
2021-05-03(A) Jacob Elmqvist vs Asad Rustum Russian win
2020-10-07(A) Matias Dahlbäck vs Matt Velazquez Russian winA 10+ month PBEM game came to an end with a 2h live session. I had it, I HAD IT, but I had also taken risks and placed units that....

Look. I had a halftrack with a squad as passengers that were freezing his two last squads. Halftrack with squads went POOF in my last player turn. After that he needed one more CVP to clinch it, and I had left a hero alone (to block him from reaching a VP-hex) two hexes away. He assault moves in with one squad. That breaks. The second squad assault moves in, takes the shots, passes everything and could then advance into CC with the hero. 4:1, the Russian reaches the CVP cap and wins.

There were SO MANY WAYS I could've stopped that. If I had only done THIS instead of THAT.

I'm not crying, you're crying.
2020-08-21(A) Andy Bagley vs Gordon Jupp German winDeliberately slow attack as the Germans, as 9 turns is a decent time. Took until turn 7 to finaly clear building 4P6 but by then my troops were well on the way to the bridges. Mixed fortunes on the dice as two snakeyes accounted for two of my halftracks and a Russian leader found a 'faust to toast a Tiger II, but on the other hand the Russians performed poorly on morale checks, which hurt them. I nearly blew it when, thinking I was just strolling to win on the last turn, I completely forgot he had a squad under one of the bridges - until it cut my guys to pieces! Fortunately, a 4 flat shot in my last AFPh was enough to break that last squad, and I just held on to win. Great scenario, could hardly have been closer.
2020-08-21(D) Gordon Jupp vs Andy Bagley German winAs Andy mentioned, mixed fortunes..the ATG did nothing which was not helpful and Andy recovered a shocked King Tiger first opportunity and then blew away my JS :( Not a good day for the Russians....
2020-08-17(D) Shaun Andrews vs Richard Vieira German winA lot of "cat and mouse" till my Russians stood their ground at the bridges taking crest status along the gully. Intense firefighting ensued which took the battle to the bottom of the 10 culminating in a final CC with 1-1 odds to decide the victors. My opponent's Germans managed to pull the rabbit out of the hat winning this one. Great play all around. Would definitely play this one again as either side.
2020-03-24(D) Vilis Pavulans vs Doug McMullen German winNot that good tactics from my side and the first shot from the incoming AFV malfed the main armament. That´s the way it goes.
2018-10-27(D) Ruben Rigillo vs Lorenzo Marinaro Russian win9-1 and 4-5-8 found a PF and Burnt a Tiger! Then on the 8th turn assaulted a HT with a 9-2 and 5-4-8 BU. Destroyed! Won by CVP!
2018-10-27(A) Lorenzo Marinaro vs Ruben Rigillo Russian win
2018-09-08(D) Dan Best vs Kermit Mullins Russian win
2018-09-08(A) Kermit Mullins vs Dan Best Russian winWell...forgot about the CVP cap and was done by turn 3 as Dan's 57LL AT Gun made short work of my half-tracks and the squads contained therein. I was waaaay too aggressive for a 9 turn game...so a little bit on me. Dan took out 24 CVP and it was game over for my Germans. Despite its brevity, it was a fun game and a scenario that never fails to entertain.
2018-04-07(D) David Garvin vs Larry Maxwell German winWow. What a match! Came down to the final turn and final roll. A 478 squad was able to find TWO Panzerfausts, needing 4 To Hit and took down my IS 2. Great match!
2018-02-26(D) Tom Kearney vs Eric Alleman Russian winIS-2 Bounding FF killed a Tiger II. Wow!
2017-08-05(A) Jeff Waldon vs Paul Qualtieri German winCAWS-FtF
2017-07-27(A) B-E Karlsson vs Russian German win
2017-07-16(D) Gordon Jupp vs Nick Holmshaw Russian winThe Russian ATG was set up in the large wheat field behind the VC building on Bd 4. The German Tanks advanced towards it but were then lured back by the IS2 trying to get behind them. They both presented rear shots and were taken out in one phase by the ATG. With those and the loss of a HT the CVP was breached!
2017-06-27(A) Jeff B vs Ryan Ellett German win4.25 hrsI am very surprised this scenario has not received more play as it is extremely fun and highly replayable. Just as in the previous post, the Russians were eventually eliminated to the last unit, though they made a tough last stand around the bridges. A feisty 6-2-8 in the gully was particularly tough to root out. The stone building fell on Turn 4 and, in my mind, needs a very heavy garrison as I believe it is the key. The remaining units should probably try to dig some foxholes around the bridges and fall back into the gully when things get hot. The IS-2 will probably be needed to shore up the defense here at some point, though in our game it ran into low ammo on its first shot and MALFd on its second. There is just no good answer to counter the two King Tigers and they should dictate the show wherever the go.
2016-10-25(D) Tom Abromaitis vs German winSeemed like there was too much time for the Germans. Every single Russian unit eliminated...
2016-06-18(A) Scott Sherer vs Daniel Soukup Russian winWay too aggressive as the Germans and my opponent made me pay. Busted CVP cap on Turn 2!
2015-08-13(A) Seumas Hoskins vs Russian win
2015-01-10(D) Andy Beaton vs Will Willow Russian winOne KT gone home with a malfed MA, another immobilized by my AT gun and killer 6-2-8's in the board 5 woods that CC'd every German who came near them put Will in a corner he was unable to claw his way out of.

2012-08-20(A) Lee Hyde vs Nick Carter Russian winFirst session, and only my second ASL game in 'anger' so to speak. Got to Turn 5 and still to find Russian AT Gun still HIP. IS2 defending bridges, but have Routed MMC and SMC from one Foxhole also in covering position. Russian forces in stone building (other VP) suffering attrition with HMG now unmanned. Hope to complete soon, or transfer to Vasl. Finally finished off in Feb 2013 ! Great game, with the Axis all but eliminating the Russkies and having the game, dare I say, all but won. Then in some last turn madness, inexperience I covered the last bridge location with so much FP no one would survive moving into it. I had had a unit there but they had been forced to Rout away, so understood it was technically still under axis control. What I failed to allow was for my opponent to simple ignore his movement phase, but simply Advance from an adjacent gully into the Bridge hex. Lesson learned, play to the very bitter end and assume nothing ! Just makes you want to get right back up and have another go.
2012-06-23(D) Raoul Duke vs MH In progressAbandoned due to lack of time after turn 5.
