Overview:
With Armies Modlin and Pomorze in full retreat, the Polish High Command focused on the tactical situation in the Piortrkow sector and ordered a local counterattack to slow the German blitzkrieg. The 1st Panzer Division approached Piotrkow believing the city and road to be wide open. Two battalions of the Polish 19th Infantry Division were waiting. . .

2016-09-17(D) Vic Lauterbach vs MA German winThis was a primer on how to use early-war Panzers when you have 14! The Panzer mass hooked around the Polish left, and one 37L and an ATR on that flank couldn't stop them. I counted on the guns killing 5 tanks then getting 5 more with CCV, ATRs and the 7TPs, but the Panzers kept moving forcing CA changes and low % shots. My MGs killed 2 squads early but only 2 HS after the Germans got into woods and buildings. My plan to fall back from perimeter positions to the overlay buildings was foiled by German MGs covering all the open ground. MMC that broke were quickly surrounded and surrendered. The only thing that didn't work for the Germans was the PzIVs never got SMOKE. My last ditch position 44BB8/CC10 held out until GT7, but a German victory was sealed by GT6. Next time, I'd put the whole defense in a hedgehog around 44oU5-U6-W7. Seeing PzIs/IIs used effectively was fun though.
