The men of 'K' Company, 333rd Infantry Battalion, landed in Europe at Omaha Beach on 2 November, 1944. Known as the "Railsplitters", the unit saw little action. 'K' Company had yet to fire a shot, when the attack order came in for an assault against the Sigefried Line positions of the 183rd Volksgrenadier Division. The baptims of fire went by swiftly, with the company capturing its first objective. Things would be different on 20 November as the day dawned to mud, and more mud. Worse still, the enemy inserted fresh forces, including the seasoned tankers of the 9th and 10th SS Panzer Divisions.
