Overview:

The Germans, after a week of relatively easy victories, approached a small Lithuanian village amidst the forest. Army Group North was among the first Germans to encounter heavier Russian tanks. These monsters dwarfed the German AFVs, and it was quickly discovered that they were not easily beaten with firepower. Turning to their tactical advantages of numbers, speed, and manueverability, the German forces would often byass these strong points and then reduce them at their leisure. That was not an option in this case. . . . .In a fairly large battle from the opening days of Operation Barbarossa in 1941, 10 Russian squads must defend a village from an attack by 12 German squads. The Germans are supported by six tanks of various types, while the Russians have an infantry gun and two tanks, one of which is a nearly invincible KV-2.

2024-11-10(A) Nicolas Leste-Lasserre vs German win
2024-06-20(D) Justin DiSabatino vs Russian winThe Germans started out strong, one PzIV moving to lay smoke to cover the advancing infantry while the other AFVs break into two flanking movements. The Russian turn was hugely impactful as INF gun went on a rate tear with HEAT, taking out both PzIVs and impacting the German’s ability to handle the KV. Bad luck went both ways, as the INF gun malf’d on turn 2 and the crew would not be able to repair it before being driven off. The German infantry managed to take out the squads with the ATRs as well, moving towards the top of board u by the start of turn 4 to be able to head to the objectives. At this point, their attack staggered – the KV moved forward to threaten the two remaining German AFVs, sending them retreating out of sight, but the German infantry immobilized the KV and prospects were looking up… Except a Pz35t stopped next to a Russian squad that then routed to a building with a dropped ATR, rallied, recovered the ATR, and rolled snake eyes to destroy the AFV in Prep Fire.
2023-09-20(A) Todd Cox vs Russian winGermans had just one AFV left. The 76mm inf gun was deadly to the tanks the first few rounds til the crew was broken.

2021-12-13(D) Pascal Boileau vs Philippe Duchon German winA very nice scenario. The Russians were outflanked by the German AFVs in the first three turns of the game meanwhile they lost their BT-7 and gun with no compensation. I tried to organize a last stand with my infantry equipped with ATR but they were destroyed by the German firepower and I conceded at the end of the sixth turn. At this time, the Russian situation was hopeless with no unbroken MMC left on board. Well played Philippe !
2021-09-22(D) Craig Renier vs Erik Krommenhoek Russian winThe Germans made great progress early on aggressively pushing his armor through the weak Russian defense. However, the Germans failed to consider the threat of the Russian ATRs, losing two AFVs by mid-game to them. The KV took out a third before being Recalled for broken MA. In Turn 5, after multiple hits with no kills, the INF Gun was finally able to destroy two more AFVs giving the Russians a hard fought win.
2021-09-09(A) Craig Renier vs Craig N German winAggressively using the AFVs to freeze defensive fire, the Germans made steady advances up the center woods/marsh hexes. The Russians missed a few opportunities to fire the Gun or AFV, which could have shifted the center of gravity. But the German attacks were very successful. Near the end, a fortunate low odds roll against the Russian defenders followed by unfortunate MCs left a gaping whole in the defense. On the last turn, the Russian player had a remote chance to regain control of a building, but the Crew broke while attempting the move.

2021-08-05(D) Larry Davidson vs Brian Devitt Russian win
2021-05-18(D) Ethan Delwood vs Robert Delwood Russian winRussian victory by German surrender. German player was unlucky with tanks (3 MA malfunctions) and KV was virtually undefeatable. However, Russian infantry were getting thin and Russians were on the run consistently, making it hard to rally by the surrender on turn 5.
2021-03-24(D) Gerard G vs padouc German winRussians failed to delay german squads advance. Despite the KV-2 tank , that tried a last effort to eliminate 2 more gemran tanks, but got blasted by a captured ATR Critical hit !
2021-03-23(D) Gerard G vs Jean Carlo Debolle German win[Imported from ROAR]
2021-02-27(D) Dmitry Klyuykov vs Fedor Grachev Russian win
2021-02-12(A) Jonathan Townsend vs Myself Russian winCame down to a CC in the last German turn, with the Pinned Russian squad beating three Germans resulting in the latter not taking the last building they needed to win.
I used the infantry to protect the Tanks in the first turn meaning the Tanks did very little except move up on the Left flank whilst the infantry spent all their efforts swarming a 1/2 squad with an ATR and another squad in the treeline.and broke a couple of themselves in the process. Must practice combined arms tactics more!
2021-01-10(A) Craig Renier vs Steve Boro German winThe Germans advanced from the southeast slogging through the woods and brush. The Germans carefully advanced taking care not to lose their tanks to the Russian ATR or hidden gun. Neither side sustained losses, but the Germans were able to move forward. When the Russian BT-7 was shocked, the door opened for the Germans to initiate a full assault. The BTR ended up destroyed after the Shock giving way for the German tanks to advance. The Germans suffered some heavy losses with MC and KIA, but the Russians suffered as well. Finally, in Turns 5 and 6, the Russian began to fail their MCs. With no good order MMCs remaining, the Russians conceded at the end of the German Turn 6.
2020-12-02(A) Mark Dennehy vs Jim Bert German win
2020-11-12(A) David Garvin vs Loic Gourdon Russian winThis came to the end. His INF Gun took out two tanks, his KV had to repair his MA and did on the final turn and popped my last tank that I needed to win.

Great fun!
2020-07-29(D) Jonathan Plott vs Derek Ritter German winA "teachable moment" for me (playing the Russian Defender) as an inept set-up and a swarm of German tanks and infantry overwhelmed my positions with 2 full turns left. Probably did not help that my opponent was Derek Ritter...that's right, Mr RitterKrieg himself! He's probably forgotten more about ASL than I will ever know, but his patience and explanations along the way made this a very enjoyable learning experience! My highlight was getting critical hits not once but TWICE on both of his Pz IIs...with the MA of my KV-2. That's right...I killed two light tanks with a 152mm gun. I was told I should have taken another shot at the turrets as they fell down back from the heavens. The low point was when one of my squads was vaporized while holding an ATR...and then having the victorious German squad pick it up and use it to kill my BT-7! The only bad experience is one you don't learn from...and I learned a LOT this game! Congratulations Derek...I look forward to the next time we play!
2020-06-11(A) Kevin Sanders vs Eric Topp German winSolid dice with good advance by Germans gets a win. Russian did roll poor and when good rolls happened they didnt matter much. Russian tank bounced 2 times on PV4. Fun to learn good combined arms movements/attack.
2020-03-20(A) John Smith vs Scott German winLots of units for such a small board. I pushed my German armor in early and (too) aggressively and lost 2 of them to good ATR shots, then another 2 shortly after to the Russian armor. One more tank loss and I would have instantly lost the scenario. I played cat and mouse with his KV2 and my infantry pushed up through the woods to take the buildings. Late in the game Scott got off a final ATR shot on one of my last 2 tanks and missed an immobilization (and instant victory) by one on his TK DR. It's amazing how many scenarios can literally come down to one critical die roll.
2020-03-20(A) Eric Topp vs Peter Morris German winRussian infantry were outflanked allowing Germans to take VC buildings despite panzer losses
2020-01-18(D) Jonathan Plott vs Gary Boxcars German winOne of the games I played at my first ASL event, Winter Offensive 2020!!
2020-01-07(A) Jacob Elmqvist vs Ingemar Gardell Russian win
2019-11-22(D) Vilis Pavulans vs Kalle Widell Russian win
2019-10-22(D) M T vs Russian winInteresting scenario with some early war equipment. Without HEAT ammo the KV2 is a tough opponent for the Germans. In our game the KV malfed & destroyed it's gun on turn 5, giving the Germans a fighting chance. The Soviets still managed a win, however.
2019-09-22(D) Javier Rodrigo Ballesteros vs My friend Russian win
2018-06-11(D) Lee Hyde vs Max Malm Russian winLucky Russian success in taking out some rash German tankers early on left it finely poised with only two functioning German AFV's in T4. A min 2 being required to hope for victory, and the KV-2 despatched the last required for a Russian victory.
2018-06-11(A) Max Malm vs Lee Hyde Russian win
2017-07-07(A) Greg Krane vs solo German winRotten Russian luck! On the first turn the Russian AT gun Malfed and got a six on the repair roll the very next Rally Phase. The KV-2 couldn't buy a hit on he German attackers and then at the end of turn 3 its MA malfed and then...6 on the repair roll! With the linchpin of its defense removed the Panzers destroyed the remaining Russian AFV and quickly surrounded and cut off the remaining Russian infantry.
2017-01-22(D) O Ramaille vs Russian winWith the huge KV-2 Russian tank covering most of the open ground, the German decided to advance through the woods. They advance slowly with support of the panzers. Soon, some Germans gun malfunctioned, forcing even one of the panzer to be recalled. A Russian ATR transformed another into a wreck. And the KV-2 was coming that way. The shots rebound on is armour and smoke did not prevent another kill. Meanwhile, the Russian infantry suffered heavy losses and had to give ground. The German conquered one then two buildings. A Panzer got mired trying to force entrance on a building. And the hidden Russian gun smoked another Panzer. The battle was done. With only two controlled building and only one panzer mobile, the Germans losed this early battle.

2015-06-27(D) Paul Messina vs Greg Schmidtgens Russian win
2014-08-25(D) leo zhu vs Erwin Lau German winKV-2 setup in a wrong location and make no use for the battle.
2014-01-25(D) Paul Messina vs Forrest Atterberry Russian winGreat scenario! I made a few crucial defensive fire attacks on Turn 6 that secured the victory but overall this was a super scenario that ebbed and flowed back and forth the entire game. A must play due to the unique "toys" that are included in the scenario.
2013-01-08(A) Martí Cabré vs Solo DrawSolo play. I put the KV on the Russian left side to force the German armor side to take the German right, more narrow, covered with an ATR, the gun and the other tank. The Germans smashed that position killing some Russians and the Russian gun malfunctioned and was eliminated. But then the KV moved to the central position and started blowing up German tanks, using the PFPh and the DFPh. More, the German infantry started failing all of its MC and the attack stalled. The German tanks attacked seven or eight times the KV to no avail and it destroyed all German tanks but three. The Germans conceded with only one building hex taken, three surviving tanks and almost all infantry broken, with two turns to go.
2012-03-23(D) Kermit Mullins vs Scott Waites German win1st turn completed. Germans are moving through woods slowly and pouring on the fire against the Soviets in front of them. So far...so bad as my Russkies are breaking and falling back. Not an auspicious start.
2011-12-31(A) Stefan C vs osterhausm German winRussian setup put KV-2 on the flank where it wasn't in a position to stop the german advance. Game ended turn 5 allied when the MA on the KV2 broke, 4 building hexes already captured with 4 German tanks left.
