A group of German tommy-gunners had seized some buildings at the intersection of Respublikanskaya and Kievskaya streets, and to evict them General Chuikov organized an immediate counterattack. A platoon of tanks that was positioned near the slopes of Mamyev Kurgan was quickly dispatched to conduct the attack.
Played at west coast melee 2025. The dice gave me the defending Germans. The Russians came in heavy on the east edge of the German set up area but the attack bogged down when he hit the wide city streets. He tried to bring his t40s in behind me but ran into my concealed AT gun which quickly got rid of them. I finally broke down his defense of the west edge and ran a few units into the German area late in the game. This ensured that the Russians would have to capture a stone location in my set up area and eliminate a couple MMCs to win. Some effective fire in German turn 4 made it impossible to get to the Germans that had fallen back in the south and the Russians conceded. Fun scenario plays quickly.

A small but funny scenario. The German defense crumbled in the very last turn while the issue was totally undecided during the previous ones... GG Serge !

This one is way too small and dicey for my tastes. I figured it would be over, one way or another, by the end of Turn 2 and I was right. My Russians started off with a 30+3 on the 9-2 and squad. I figured he was the keystone of the German defense. Anyway, for the second time on the opening shot today(!)(I played two games), my sniper was activated and mortally wounded a 9-2. But when my T-34 drove brazenly up to the building a German HS(!) turned it into a burning wreck with CC reaction fire. I'd still take that trade. Especially when, on the other side of the board (which is only a few hexes away) my first T-60 VBM froze a squad, paving the way for my pack of 9-1 led 6-2-8s to blast it. The rest of the game was all Russian. Despite the fact that the Germans created two leaders and a hero, there was just no stopping the Red Horde. I was very underwhelmed with this scenario as I know luck could have just as easily gone the other way.

Fun, tight game that game down to the final CC roll in one of the VC stone hexes. First time playing VotG (or any HASL for that matter) and this was an excellent one to start with. Played at July Columbus Area Advanced Squad Leader meeting.

My first face-to-face game after 25+ years, and my first tournament game ever. This was also the first scenario in MadASL 2018. Santiago was a very tough nut to crack! I learnt a lot about the game. I tried to hurry with my forces, and I paid a high price. Highly recommend the scenario.

Good scenario...but my dice were stone cold and Dan's were red hot. So my Russians were battered and repulsed as Dan's Germans won the day after just 3-1/2 turns.

Russians lost their T-34 to malfunction and were taken back by MG fire but they rallied and attacked again gaining hold on all German controlled buildings. The DC broke one HS in a cellar allowing for a final assault but the final German defensive fire pinned a group of Russian units needed to CC a location so the Germans saved the day.

But ever gracious , in play finished the game. I can see the Russians being hard to hold back on adv rolls.

OK. This scenario owns me. I have now lost it twice as the Germans and once as the Russian. My first shot against the T-34 with the AT gun missed with HEAT, so I followed up with a deliberate immobilization in a pretty good out of the way spot. Then the game bit me in the butt. My 9-2 leader took a fatal wound to the head and broke his accompanying squad. Then then 9-1 broke with his squad basically leaving the front in shambles. It went slowly downhill from that.
