Rommel ordered the 27th ‘Brescia’ Infantry Division to bring up their artillery to new positions near Mersa el Brega on 1 April, and to bring the rest of the division forward during the afternoon of 2 April. The British were re-acquainted with their Italian adversaries at dawn of 1 April. A patrol of A13 MK II tanks from ‘A’ Squadron, 5th Royal Tank Regiment, along with armored cars from King’s Dragoon Guards bumped into ‘panzers’ moving east near the road north of Giofer.
