Overview:

Brigadier General Norman Cota had decided to tag along on a mission to capture two bridges that the Germans might use to sever the tie between US forces in Carentan and Omaha Beach. After crossing the Vire River, the two companies encountered heavy resistance and the total force was reduced to just 80 men. Capturing the bridges was not going to be possible. Around 6 pm, as Cota’s men were digging in northwest of Montmartin-en-Graignes, reinforcements arrived in the form of 60 men from Battalion I, Glider Infantry Regiment 327 who had been probing south from Carentan. Cota decided to take Montmartin instead, or risk being slaughtered out in the open in the dark.

2022-02-06(D) Grant Hewitt vs Max Malm German winAP106 Helluva Patrol Leader: I don't feel like I should have won this one. My sniper eliminated the American 10-2 leader early in the game, but Max Malm's Americans recovered from that early set-back to take control of all of the Victory Condition buildings in the final American Player Turn; thanks to a dreadful run of task and morale checks (3 boxcars!) by my German units in my "Alamo" hex (U7). Things got worse for me due to impending overwhelming odds that were about to occur in the Melee in hex U9, where my German unit broke under fire prior to the Americans advancing into the building, ambushing and then eliminating the broken defender. The Germans in U7 low-crawled to T7, where the wounded leader battle hardened and rallied one squad (although, on reflection I think they should have surrendered to the Americans in V6 as their only option was low-crawl or interdiction and there was no No Quarter declared). I was saved when the broken unit in W4 self-rallied and moved adjacent to and were poised to advance into hex X6 and deny American control in X6 (containing a broken American unit with the German MMG). Again, I think that I shouldn't have won because I forgot to remove the DM status from the Germans in W4 in the American final Player Turn, but Max graciously allowed me to do so prior to the self-rally roll of 6. Thanks, Max, for a great game well played. You deserved to win this one.

2019-06-08(A) Andy Goldin vs Dale Wetzelberger American winHuman Wave 2019. Dale volunteered to take the Germans, with the balance, which upgrades the MMG to an HMG and the 8-1 to a 9-1. He setup mainly in the buildings on the east side of the road, posting only a token force in Z8. I opted to "hit him where he ain't" by massing on my right to cross the grain fields and orchards and drive directly on the southernmost block of rowhouses. I formed two sets of fire groups, one each around the 9-1 and the other around the 10-2, General Cota. I kept only a small force on my left, to keep the German fixed and take advantage of whatever opportunities that may present themselves. Both of these choices paid off. Thanks to some good dice and aggressive movement, I was able to threaten the southernmost row of townhouses and get in the woods (X9/X10) by turn 3. This compelled Dale to re-position his HMG, on which I got a lucky shot and broke both the squad and leader. At that point, Dale's Germans were broken, or out of position, and he conceded.
Another depiction of this action is Bounding Fire's "Norman D" in Beyond the Beachhead 2, which I think is more balanced.

2017-12-31(D) Dan Best vs Tony Peirson German win
2017-11-17(D) Derek Rowe vs Bill S. American win Difficult to avoid the American rush into the target buildings. An aggressive American player can cause all sorts of problems for the Germans. I tried to keep the American 10-2 leader out of the main victory area for as long as possible. Ended on the 6th turn. Would like to try a different defensive set up with the Germans if I play this scenario again.
2017-10-14(A) Stephen dedier vs Aque, Steven American winI was very aggressive as the American and I think you have no choice. Several times units were broken in the assault but managed to rally. Smoke helped me get close to the buildings. Taking the row houses was very different because of the routs and the missing LOS between hexes. Fun scenario.
