Overview:

The Lake Balaton offensive, code named FRUHLINGSERWACHEN (Spring Awakening) began on 6 March. The “Hitlerjugend” division launched its part of the attack at 0400. The first day was disappointing as the division made little progress against the Soviet 26th Army. On 7 March, the Germans attacked again. SS-Panzergrenadier-Regiment 25 attacked Fekete-Puszta, but gained very little ground before being stopped by heavy resistance. SS-Panzergrenadier-Regiment 26 made much better progress in its attack since it was supported by a panzer battalion and part of a self-propelled gun battalion. Its Bataillon II advanced further south but was stalled on the outskirts of Aranyos-Puszta. The Soviets launched a number of counterattacks, especially against the German right flank, but tanks and three Grille self-propelled guns supported the defense.

2025-01-21(A) John Garlic vs Mike Grogan German (SS) winGermans able to infiltrate Russian positions and fight through piecemeal.
2023-12-04(A) Todd Cox vs German (SS) winGerman win. Panthers were able to stay alive and quickly repaired a malfunctioned MA. Not the best placement for the Russian 76s and they were most ineffective. Panzerfausts took their toll.
2023-11-19(D) Jeff Wright vs Joe Armold Russian win
2021-05-04(A) David Garvin vs Blake Ball Russian winFor CASLO XXV
2021-03-03(D) wayne baumber vs Russian winGood scenario, our game became slightly one sided when the Germans lost two Panthers in GT2 to side shots from hidden guns. The Crickets when they arrived did cause considerable casualties before being destroyed by the third ART at long range.
2020-06-18(D) Pascal Boileau vs Todd Hively German (SS) winAn excellent scenario played with a very nice opponent. Despite being covered in mud, the German troops of Todd were very effective against my brave Russian units.
The panthers devastated the Russian armored reinforcements and I was nailed to the end. Well played Todd and many thanks for the lessons !
2020-04-07(A) Rob MacGinley vs Bob Zinselmeyer Russian winYou have to get into town quick and establish traps
The Large gun wagons at the end were useless when there are no help from panthers
2020-03-15(D) Jason Wert vs David Langer Russian win
2019-11-05(A) David Ramsey vs Martin Barker Russian winBrutal turn 1 where the Artillery destroyed 3 half-tracks, including the 10-2 leader and managed to slow the Germans down enough that risks were taken. More devastating ART attacks in the town reduced the buildings to rubble and the Germans to less!

Well deserved win for the Russians - great scenario!
2019-04-20(A) Andy Beaton vs Richard Hooks German (SS) winRussian defence was set up too far back, which allowed the Germans a foothold in the town. The Crickets should have been left off board for all the good they did, but the Panther scored two crits on the T34's and two others fell to barrages of panzerfausts. Fun scenario.
2018-11-24(A) Simon Staniforth vs Russian win
2018-10-01(A) Tuomo Lukkari vs Alan Bills Russian win[Imported from ROAR]

2018-02-18(A) Michael Augustine vs Jeff Fortin German (SS) win
2018-02-03(A) Gordon Jupp vs Derek Cox German (SS) winCracking scenario, with lots of options for both sides in terms of strategy...Derek chose to upfront the 76L guns, one of which Malfd almost immediately and the second was taken out by the German Infantry by T2. This allowed the panthers a bit more freedom and risking bog, one went across country on the right to interdict the flank entry road and another moved up into the outskirts of the village. Both got quick kills against the oncoming T34/85's and the tide had turned. The killer was the CH by the 37L HT against another T34/85 and the Russians were now up against it and although there was some further trading of CVP on T5 the Russians lost 2 leaders and a squad for failure to rout and it was all over....
2018-01-28(A) jon smith vs russian German (SS) winfirst turn saw 2 panthers break main guns, and both were recalled in next turn when they railed to repair. We nearly restarted, but germans decided to keep going.

With the german inf pushing directly to the hill in the middle, the half tracks stayed at the back out of sight and danger, Russian tank riders split evenly either side of the hill and germans refused left flank with a cricket, held hill in centre with the 10-2 leader and 3 MMc, and everything else pushed down road on right, the crickets removed the Russian artillery and the lone panther seemed impervious to all attempts to kill it, Russian tanks fell to fausts and the panther was free to hunt, finally the half tracks raced from the back and prevented Russians from routing giving germans the win.
2018-01-13(D) Michael Focht vs Dan McGuire Russian win
2017-12-05(A) Lawrence Spangler vs Diane Spangler German (SS) win
2017-12-05(D) Diane Spangler vs Lawrence SpanglerD German (SS) win
2017-12-03(D) Jeff B vs John Fedoriw German (SS) win4.5 hrsThe Russians chose to make a defiant stand on the hilltop, parking and concealing tanks in the orchards while the infantry stood by waiting to blast the Germans at point blank. The Germans took a safe and methodical approach to dislodging them, grabbing buildings on the way. The big swing in balance was on Turn 4 after the Crickets entered. The Germans made an admitted error by leaving them relatively exposed and in motion to a T34 that decided to go a-hunting, but a CH by one of them turned him into a flaming wreck. This emboldened one of the Tigers to challenge the hilltop AFVs and two more T34s were turned into scrap metal. The Russians still had not revealed two of their guns (the first Malfing and breaking down very early in the game), hoping that at least one Tiger would come into their scopes. But Turn 5 saw some extremely hot German dice, knocking out another tank and breaking a boatload of infantry. With the score 29:48 the Russians conceded.
2017-12-02(D) Rich Weiley vs Richard Cornwell Russian winPaddington Bearz - December 2017
2017-11-29(D) Paolo Cariolato vs Federico Corso Russian winThis is a great scenario! tough victory conditions for both, both players need to know well their respective armies and their enemy.
Want to play it again.
2017-10-21(D) Kermit Mullins vs Dan Best German (SS) winTough fought scenario. Dan's SS infantry initially ran into a gauntlet of 76L ARTY fire, but quickly recovered and demolished my left flank. Meanwhile the Panthers took control of the road net. My T-34/85's came on and got some soft AFV kills, but couldn't stand up to the Panthers. Meanwhile the SS Sniper wiped out my 9-1 and HMG stack. Dan's 10-2 became a Heroic 10-3 and went on to kick my behind royally. Great scenario and great fun!
