Overview:

As Col. Carlson’s Raider detachment teams approached the HQ compound in the pre-dawn hours, firing was heard from their fellow Marines at the Seaplane anchorage and docks. The gunfire awoke the Japanese, and they began to form up and gather equipment to send a patrol to investigate. Seeing the chance of surprise slip away, Col. Carlson gave the order “Charge!” All teams began rushing the surprised and shocked Japanese men in the compound, SMGs firing at the hip and Grenades exploding as they arched through the air. The Battle was on
