As Canadian forces pushed steadily through the olive groves and vineyards west of Ortona, Fallschirmjager-Division 1 was compelled to establish a new defensive line in the town itself. Ortona was already something of a rubble-strewn maze from damage caused by near-incessant Canadian artillery fire; now the Germans enhanced the shambles with demolitions to block likely avenues of approach. By 20 December, the Canadians had reached the outskirts of southern Ortona. A reconnaissance conducted late that evening revealed no German presence whatsoever. Plans were laid to enter the town using the main road -- the Corso Vittorio Emanuele -- to push straight through to the other end of Ortona. At dawn the next morning, the Loyal Edmonton Regiment launched the attack and almost immediately ran into well-prepared German defenses the recce had not revealed.

My Canadians struggled to take the E15 building, and I very nearly conceded at the end of Turn 4. But then Dan's 5-4-8's begin to miss all of their morale checks. And by Turn 6, the building fell and my Canadians had taken the required buildings in the rear for the win.

Steve played a really fun and aggressive game, and while I managed to take out his tanks, my sorta crappy setup and dice led to me conceding on T5 when it became clear that I wouldn't be able to stop him getting enough VP. Highlight of the game? I had a squad in a key location who broke at the worst possible time, then rallied, moved forward under sniper cover to retake the building it had abandoned, then pinned before getting the building back, then broke again right after. Was right on the next train to the Ostfront for sure!

vASLOK 2020 open play. Close game with lots of CC. Canadians ended with 15 VP. The end game was a battle to repulse the German counter attack in E15.

As David Garvin says, read the victory conditions!
Canadians gained the main building by turn three, but left too small a force there and made the mistake of allowing the Germans to get it back.
This and One-Eyed Jacques were very, very good and worth a replay. No comment on the third scenario (Hero's Day) as I haven't played it yet.

Read the Victory Conditions. I thought I had 9 VP; I had only 6. Still, Kedge offered a fantastic defence throughout and was a joy to play.

Nice scenario. End at the last turn. The Canadian won the control of one main building and the center of the map. Two AFVs went down to PFs. DCs were ineffective on the Canadian while the German was not able to use its own due to set up choice. Nice scenario, would probably replay it.

I was not able to get a solid drive going against the strong German defenses.
I managed to get around the German Right flank and take enough buildings to add some question to the final decision but it was really a German game from the start with Tom doing a great job of positioning and holding concealment.
