The British effort to cross the Rhine in September had fallen a bridge short and was now bogged down in "the Island" between the Rhine and Waal Rivers. The Germans had bottled up the Allies and casualties on both sides were mounting. The Wessex Division was scheduled to be pulled out of the line and replaced by the American 101st Airborne Division in Opheusden, a town not far from the Rhine, near the railroad line that served this part of the Netherlands.
The Germans have overwhelming force and massive firepower. Even tough the first two player turns the British broke about 6 German squads by good rolling, there are so many German squads that they managed to fire several 20+ attacks on the British until they broke. Then the vehicles enter and cut retreat paths. We even had the fun situation that a German prisoner attacked its guard creating a Melee in the entry hex for the Americans, forcing them to enter on Open Ground under German fire. On Turn 3 there were no GO Allied units and they conceded.

One of the worst scenario I ever played, basically the Allied have no choice on executing the fighting retreat, trying slowing down the attacking germans, no choice on Reinforcement that can come from one place and the changing mechanism is horrible and makes no sense. On top of that the germans have overwhelming forces and this scenario got not enough playtest. I loved the idea of small scenarios on a card, but they should have done more playtest (it was not that difficult to understand that it was unbalanced)

The railroad is undefined in the SSR. We played it as an ElRR. Too many Germans. It seems like it would be a tighter scenario if the Americans reenforced the British, rather than replaced them. I love the idea of the small scenario, but have doubts about the execution.

Played solo but found it quite difficult for the American / British side to hold the line and still have enough strength to keep control of the victory building. Fun but I am not sure this small scenario will bear repeated playings.

Germans were up in the British business early surviving several residual fire and then stepping into CC. The American exchange was for 2.5 squads and a leader which made it interesting, but a clear German victory.

This all hinged on the US reinforcements which failed to make it to the VC building on entry thus seeing a German win as early as T2. I had managed to get a CX leader into the V5 stone building thus blocking the obvious route to the victory building. In the absence of a SMC OVR, the US Paratroopers had to take some risks but all the entry areas were covered by fire which saw them all break and that was that. The ATG was unlucky with a couple of hits on the StuG that was covering the entry area both which bounced off. The scenario would have played much differently with a KO

This is a tough scenario and kind of a head scratcher. The German force is uber powerful, except for a dreadful ELR, which saps the German 4-4-7's. The range is too close for a German HMG and 4 x LMG's...oh and two STUG's. The British have to survive for two turns in order for the Americans to show up. Dan's Germans had three kill stacks opportunity fire to little effect on Turn 1. 4 Half-squads stressed the British defenses, but they held. The STUG's race around to the rear. In British phase of Turn 2 - the 57L managed to KIA one STUG and shock the second. Then 3 x 7-4-7's and the 9-1 joined the fight and eliminated the shocked STUG in CC. The Germans came on and were shattered and ELR'd by the heavy American fire. But the game would end with a MELEE in place in T5, which would give the Americans a victory, but only barely. Rough scenario for both players.

First scenario in my WO 2023 day. Strange SSR with the Brits and Americans trying to rotate mid-battle. As usual, my limited tactical skills were not up to the challenge. The good part: it is a fast-playing scenario.
