Overview:

One of the responsibilities of the Airborne troops was the seizure of several key bridges following the D-Day drop. One of these bridges was at Chef-du-Pont. Gavin organized a pickup force to take care of this bridge himself. With elements of the 507th split into two groups, he marched on Chef-du-Pont by closely parallel but different routes.

2025-01-22(A) Herve Duval vs Alex American winThe germans held well until T4. Alex chose to forfeit concealment for a few shots that exposed his troops to devastating power combined with excellent leadership.

By the end of T5, there was only one German squad left (and broken)
2025-01-03(A) Herve Duval vs In progress
2024-09-21(D) Paul Works vs Robert Piepho German win
2024-02-25(A) Benoit REY vs jrubes American winAs usual this was uncertain until the last turn. My oponent did not use the levels 1 of the building, therefore offering the American to run all around the village without any risk.
2023-12-11(A) Tyler Forsythe vs Chris Pavle American winGreat game with Chris, with the Americans pulling it out on some lucky dice right at the end. Still learning the game, and I was grateful for the coaching from my opponent
2023-10-16(A) Andreas R vs Jenny American win
2022-11-27(A) Alvaro Radigales vs German American winA very interesting and balanced scenario and a relatively gentle approach to the full rules. The Americans won in the end with a comfortable margin, mostly due to their excellent leaders – one of which became heroic during the game. I will no doubt play it again.
2022-11-27(A) Terrence Dorsey vs Solo American winSolo game to practice game mechanics and rules. Americans sent two squads and a leader the long way round, forcing the Germans to spread their defense thin against three attacks. It was close - Gavin pinned trying to exit, and Germans kept other US units from advancing. But tide turned in the last US turn. Gavin exited with two squads, while the remaining US units broke and surrounded half of the German forces, forcing them to surrender. Would definitely replay.
2022-11-05(A) Camille Garek vs Marc Morice American win
2022-10-15(D) Camille Garek vs Florian Yvis German win
2022-06-22(D) Robert Wiebe vs American American winAnother American win. Came down to the last meaningful shot of the game on Turn 6 US PFPh when the last 747 was able to CR the broken HS in the foxhole in Q10. Strong American attack down the centre again, and some unlucky HoB rolls saw the German frontline evaporate and clear the way for the US advance. The plucky German defence was able to hold them back for a bit but was finally overwhelmed, with a single broken 447 in Q10 (foxhole) and a broken 8-0 in 2R5 as the sole remaining German forces on board. Best game so far for me.
2022-06-10(D) Robert Wiebe vs American American winFirst of two play-throughs. Germans conceded on Turn 3, I think, after suffering too many losses due to an aggressive American attack through the village. German dice failed me and the 10-3/10-2 easily brushed off any 1 and 2 MC on their stack.
2022-06-10(D) Robert Wiebe vs American American winSecond of two play-throughs of the scenario. Germans held off the Americans until turn 5, when the last hold outs were surrounded and destroyed due to failure to rout. Again, aggressive American play through village kept the Germans down, who were unable to roll well, except for a single snake-eyes on Gavin's stack in Turn 5. HOB generated a Hero and then the Americans were getting off 16 FP attacks in the AFPh with a -1 DRM against troops in a stone building. Not sure how the Germans win this one though apparently its 50/50.
2022-06-02(A) Kevin Sanders vs Adam Barrie American winLucky snakes win the day vs. the kill stack of the Germans blocking the exit up nicely. Both sides had fun and some unexpected results (such as both top US leader having issues same turn - one broke other was KIA).
2022-04-07(A) Simon Staniforth vs American winAnother playing of this classic scenario, The Germans tried but failed to dig the Q10 foxhole and American firepower won the day with all the German OB captured or eliminated on the penultimate turn
2022-01-15(A) Rob Schmitt vs James Treu American winI played American Attacker. Defender set up a multilevel defense in center to cover as much in LOS entry as possible. German fire Broke several paratrooper squads on entry turn. But they rallied quickly with 10-3 leader influence. German player did not roll well when his broke squads tried to rally and had trouble recovering from it. I had a HOB Hero creation, I was able to effectively use him to get close and DM his broken squads by moving adjacent. I was able to charge the Entrenched squad at the exit point on Turn 5 with a HS and 2 Squads - he broke his squad due to a FPF MC miss. One squad in the charge survived and took the entrenchment. Enough paratrooper good order squads/leaders were in reach to exit on turn 6 so he conceded last part of turn 5.
2021-05-11(A) Christopher Graff vs Stephen Wolsky German winAmericans took some lucky German fire initially but quickly made their away around the German flanks. An unusual number of Hero and Battlefield Promotions for the American nearly gave them the win, but they ran out of time and made some last minute blunders near the exit hex.
2021-02-27(D) Michal Sedlacko vs Michal T German win[Imported from ROAR]
2021-02-25(A) Lee Hyde vs Grant Hewitt German winFirst ASL Game for my opponent, although he had played SL many years ago. Learnt quickly, and whilst the Americans made great progress to begin with, it suddenly fell apart when the dice wouldn’t let me pass a MC, Had to resort to a last turn Hail Mary rush, and enough Germans were there to shut it down.
2021-02-25(D) Grant Hewitt vs Lee Hyde German winFirst game for me and my opponent graciously talked me through the rules as we played.
2021-01-04(A) Jacob Elmqvist vs David Elmqvist American win
2020-10-02(A) Rob MacGinley vs Andrew Meijers German winTook a few bad rolls and then ran out of time
2020-08-13(D) Matias Dahlbäck vs Roberto Busatto German win
2020-07-29(A) Nate Gregg vs John Barkoviak American win
2020-07-16(A) Ian Morris vs Simon Staniforth American winFirst ever VASL game.
2020-06-06(D) John Smith vs Scott American winClose game, but a couple German mistakes and sub-par dice gave the day to General Gavin and the 82nd Airborne.
2020-05-15(A) Nate Gregg vs Chris Gregg German win
2020-05-15(D) Chris Gregg vs Nate Gregg German win[Imported from ROAR]
2020-04-23(D) Jeff Wright vs Wayne Saunders American win
2020-03-11(A) Tim Wiegmann vs Mike Grogan American win
2020-03-01(D) Tom Rodwell vs Lee Hyde-Sellars German winA really excellent introductory scenario for ASL beginners like me. Lee took the Americans and expertly maneuvered around both flanks as my German defenders conducted a relatively orderly withdrawal. It was a tight, cagey game throughout until the fifth turn when Gavin himself rolled boxcars on an NMC and died of his wounds/shame. At that point we called at as a German win. Altogether a really fun experience with a very generous and knowledgeable opponent.

2019-11-17(A) Marco Pasquini vs Di Francesco Paolo American winI plaid this scenario vs a newbe... it was perfect!
2019-09-29(D) Ulric Schwela vs Steve Bond German winA tense and fast playing scenario, we played 3.5 turns in an hour and it was all over for the American with 2.5 squads and an 8-0 remaining. Our game was skewed by the dice however, as the Germans rolled an average 6.2 vs American 7.6, including hot dice that vapourised the 10-3 and 10-2 whenever they risked moving with FFNAM. Worth replaying to see how differently it could pan out.

2019-01-29(A) O Ramaille vs German winFirst play on full ASL. The US paratroopers led by Gavin decided to run to the bridge under cover of the hill while Ostberg tried to fix German attention in the town. Ostberg was kept at bay while several German units slid South to protect the way to the bridge. Ferocious fight occurred with paratroopers going fanatic but fell under MG fire. Ostberg managed to cross the town and ran efficiently to the bridge with some troops. Gavin was killed and Maloney could not prevent the German to reinforce the bridge. A German victory by a hair's breadth.

2014-10-25(D) leo zhu vs Richard413 German winJust a teaching play.
2014-07-12(A) Raoul Duke vs CB German winA very near run game, ultimately lost in a hail of gunfire and failed morale checks. Could have easily gone either way right up to the end.
2014-06-16(A) X von Marwitz vs Steve Bond American winThough this scenario does not look like much except for featuring remarkably both a 10-3 and a 10-2 representing Gavin and Ostberg. ROAR has this one extremely balanced with Germans 225 and Americans 227 reported wins.
It turned out to be a blast to play. I tried to outflank the Germans keeping a few units back to hinder redeployment and to threaten Germans under DM. 10-3 Gavin's performance was quite mixed, as he pinned on the first opportunity screwing up some planned movement. When I had him in a position with a kill stack to spray-fire at the bad guys covering the exit area, you guessed it, he failed his MC, (of course all squads with him obeyed promptly when he called "Down, take cover!" failing their +3LLTCs... A DM broken German 4-6-7+LMG in the house that covered the exit area managed to HoB and to create a 8-1 leader during self rally, posing a nasty pain in my flank that I had thought taken care of by Ostberg. In the end, though, I managed to hole up the Germans in the southern part of the village and break all of them except a lone leader with a LMG. In my last MPh that one was forced to fire with the intent of preventing one squad equivalent plus leader the exit. As I had moved another US-squad that was unable to reach the exit hex ADJACENT before and the leader operated LMG could not leave residual FP in the exit hex, I had gained freedom of movement for the exit rush for more unit that he had left on the board, which gave me the win.
There were many ups and downs in this one, so for several times it appeared that the opposing side was having the upper hand. I can recommend this scenario, which is not only useful for teaching new players.
2014-04-09(D) Aaron Sibley vs Randy Strader German winA good teaching scenario. Went to turn 5 but too much German firepower halted the American attack.

2014-02-27(A) Daniel Soukup vs Brian M. American winGermans suffered from two wounded and eliminated leaders. The German foxhole with MMC, MMG and leader held strong until turn 4 when it was overwhelmed by Americans without having any supporting fire from the village at the time. Game ended on turn 4.

2010-12-06(A) John Van Natta vs BrandonPDX American winFirst scenario back after a long layoff for BrandonPDX. The Americans got some great rolls and the 10-3 and 10-2 were deadly. Germans conceded after 3-1/2 turns. We'll be switching sides and trying this one again before diving into something more meaty.
