Overview:

On June 12th, to expand the Omaha Beach foothold, the 18th and 26th Infantry Regiments of the “Big Red One” launched a morning attack in the direction of Caumont. Initial progress was swift and the village of Sallen, 3km north of the objective, fell easily. But as dusk approached and the Americans tried to enter Caumont itself, they were hit by a counterattack comprised of infantry and assault guns from Panzerdivision 2. The battle raged in the fading light as the Germans pushed the Americans out of all but one small corner of the town. Early the next morning, having been reinforced with Shermans from the 743rd Tank Battalion, the 26th Infantry tried again.
Attacker: American (2nd Battalion, 26th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division / 743rd Tank Battalion)
Defender: German (Panzergrenadier-Regiment 304 / Panzerjäger Bataillon 38, Panzerdivision 2)

2025-05-15(A) Andy Bagley vs Gerritt Gericke American winVery good scenario and a tough, close-fought game which went down to the last turn. The Americans eventually managed to surround the village and gradually wore down the Germans from there.
2025-04-16(D) Eric Partizan Eric vs Pierre Proust German win
2024-12-29(D) nathan wegener vs Paul Works American win6.67 hrsAttack vector from the NE village was well executed w/ smoke assets. German defense collapsed in a mini Spy vs Spy event when US hero attempted to place his DC on a concealed US squad stacked with a 8-0 leader and DC. After the squad fired and missed the leader tossed his DC which wounded the hero but the blast also rubbled the building containing the leader and squad.

2022-10-07(A) David Ramsey vs Tom Repetti German winSolid game against a good defender who beat me despite some pretty poor rolls.

My Americans took 11 of the 12 locations but only briefly threatened any more.
2022-06-12(A) Vic Lauterbach vs JM German winGreat scenario, well balanced and fun for both sides! I sent a platoon and three M4s around Jim's left flank, a platoon and two M4s at the church (53P2) and the rest at Jim's right flank. Turns 1-2 went great, I took five buildings got into CC in the church, burned the JgPzIV and the PSK broke on its first shot, all for the cost of two M4s. In Turns 3-4, I took four more buildings but hit the teeth of Jim's skillful defense, lost a big melee in the church and another M4. Jim's reinforcements drove back my right flank platoon and 88LL fire drove me out of building P5. I had nine buildings at the end of Turn 5, but Jim had 24 CVP. My push to get three buildings in Turn 6 fell just short. I took took P2 and P5 in CC but a broken 237 held out in rowhouse O7L1 to seal Jim's win!
2021-09-11(A) patrick palma vs Russell Dewhurst American win
2021-09-01(D) Asad Rustum vs Jacob Elmqvist German winThe Americans lost after hitting the CVP cap. Two Shermans were lost to the 88 and another to Street Fighting with additional help from ATMM. The German JgPz was recalled after rolling a 6 on a repair dr. The Germans set the DC with the help of the 9-2 and destroyed a 1 hex victory building enabling the Germans to focus their efforts to maintaining one building block only. Lots of fun!
2021-09-01(A) Jacob Elmqvist vs Asad Rustum German win
2021-01-11(A) M T vs R.S. American winAmerican firepower carried the day, though to be fair my opponent did experience some phenomenally bad luck with his rolls. The required buildings were taken by Turn 4 and as the Germans saw no way to win any back through a counterattack, they conceded the game.
2020-10-31(D) Rob MacGinley vs Fabio Mazzucchelli German winOne of the Best - very balanced
Best fight in the town I have played
Luck went probably my way and in CC this meant the CVP cap was a problem but just down to that last turn like a excellent ASL game should do
2020-09-27(A) John Smith vs Scott German winAmerican's spent too much effort trying to secure the church/steeple and ran out of time. I recommend not even bothering with it. Also, as the Americans protect your Shermans. You can easily lose this scenario because of CVPs.
2020-06-17(A) Jeff Wright vs Wayne Saunders German win
2020-05-06(A) B-E Karlsson vs German American win
2020-05-03(D) David Garvin vs David Deresinski American winSo many 12s! Getting a hit on a Sherman with my 88LL followed by a 12 pretty much summed up my game for me. LOL
2020-05-02(D) John Garlic vs Ken Dunn German win[Imported from ROAR]
2020-01-17(D) Richard Jenulis vs Steve Buckley American win
2019-01-06(A) Andy Goldin vs Peter Courtney American winPeter and I had a good match. Unfortunately he didn't calculate the VP correctly and consolidated his setup in the SW corner of the town. His 88 did score a kill on one of my Shermans but that didn't stop me from surrounding his redoubt. Once that happened, it was just a matter of time before I was able to take the couple of remaining buildings I needed for the win.
2018-05-13(A) Paolo Cariolato vs Brian Routh American win
2018-05-12(A) Stephen dedier vs Hunter, Jim American winTo me the Germans seem to have their work cut out for them in this scenario with a pretty weak force.
Still it came down to the last turn with Americans holing 14 buildings and Germans on the counterattack.
The Shermans have very poor smoke capability and I had no smoke success with them so they were use to pound some areas and act as MGs to deter German movement.
I put my small bd54 group on the East side of the town more as a nuisance. I attacked from the North with one group going across the grain fields to capture the buildings on the SW side of the town. I stumbled into the 88 with a HS and was able to muster firepower and take out the crew in the first turn. The rest of the game was a slugfest. I had no success shooting unless I could get adjacent and muster 24 or up firepower. Luckily for me my opponent had the same bad luck shooting or was using concealment to slow me down. Lot's of hand to hand combat where I was usually able to get odds and win in 1 or 2 tries. I lost 1 Sherman to a the schrek, one to malf/recall and a third to one to the Jg but didn't lose enough infantry to trip the 29VP.
Overall a good scenario and good for me to keep learning how to maneuver armor.

2015-07-08(D) B-E Karlsson vs American American win
2014-09-19(A) Jeff T vs JVan American winTough situation, the American's got several early breaks with snakes breaking the German HS in the steeple and opening the mid-city to entry. I pushed in and made good progress till reaching John's alamo position with his 9-2 and the 88. The battle turned on a critical hit from a Sherman on that hex, resulting in a 4KIA that destroyed the gun and all units. The Germans didn't have enough left to hold off the US firepower. Great scenario, very fun.
2014-05-16(A) Michael Rodgers vs Paul Chamberland American winThe reinforcing Pz4 malfunctioned its MA on its first shot, helping the American victory.

2011-06-17(D) Aaron Sibley vs Mark Moore German win
2011-05-21(A) Bob Callen vs Rodney Callen American winGreat game with a lot of replay value. I think our game boiled down to the Germans needing to kill one more tank to win. The Germans held on too long in the town center, but I think this area turned out as good as any for a last stand. American side got a big break when the JgPz missed an easy TK on a Sherman the first turn, especially when the Sherman didn't miss in turn.

2009-02-28(D) Allen Evenson vs David Perham American winA very intense and absorbing game - lost by two buildings against a great opponent. My 88 was setup terribly, never getting into the action.
2009-02-12(D) Sebastia Hummel vs Armin Kraft American winMy set-up didn't work and my opponent blasted me in just away in just 4 turns.
2009-02-06(A) Aaron Sibley vs Ian Willey American win
2009-01-13(A) Bill Brodie vs Stephen Mugford American winAnother good game. My play was helped greatly by having played it before. Perhaps I should play more scenarios a second time.

2008-10-28(D) Bill Brodie vs Simon Spinetti American winSimon got his revenge. This time my dice were cold, with both AFV breaking their main guns. A good scenario, making the most of the best attributes of both sides.
