Pomeranian Fury	Germans were very aggressive on Turn 1 and they lost both STUGs and one PZR. We called it early and may try again.	dmareske
War of the Rats	Russians set up to only defend centre and east building and yet spread thinly to draw fire. Germans set up with leaders on machine guns. Two single squads with demo charges, both broke and unable to get leader across to rally. Germans swooped down west and captured building. But hard to take central building until turn 5. Russians eventually collapsed leaving solitary 2-2-7 in east building. German leader, 4-6-7 & LMG attempted to storm in last turn, but last Russian 2-2-7 at pbf rolled 1-1 and killed Germans, thereby winning.	Doktor Carlos
Bois de la Hache	I advanced to the woods behind successful artillery smoke. My main thrust was in the North but with a group in the South for pressure and to prevent the Germans from getting into the setup zone. While the French made good progress in the main woods, the presence of the INF and a tough defense kept the French from doing anything in the Southern part of the Bois and caused heavy casualties. The low French morals and ELR kept several units from making it back into the fight At the end of turn 5 after the German counterattack, the French needed 8 hexes to reach victory and would have to hold them. Odds were quite small with the fresh German forces so we called it. I should have put the French artillery observer where he could redirect artillery to the South after the initial French got in the woods. My 81 crew was taken out by the sniper early and they never recovered. German artillery never even tried as the fight was mixed in the woods.	sdedier

The Road to Lyon	I based both attack and defense from an article in "View from the Trenches." The French defended up front across the board. The Stug broke the HMG stack in the Chateau from L9. It moved around the back garden on turn 3 and was attacked by the AT gun in J1, but the gun was sighting the road, and the Stug was sighting the chateau. They both spun around and exchanged misses. The ATG destroyed the Stug the next turn. Buy then the entire front had collapsed, but several squads were able to rout/sprint back towards the town. The final French squad finally fell on turn 7 to overwhelming German fire groups.	Guru Bob

Triumph Atop Taraldsvikfjell	Used a defense I found somewhere that defended all of the level 3 hexes and the ridgeline. The Norwegian and French attacked both from the North and rolled up the German defenses up and along the ridge.	Guru Bob
Roucaud’s Blow	Two CHs helped the German cause, but then I managed to malf 3 MAs. While the German's eliminated a couple French tanks they immobilized three others making victory for the French unattainable. Fun little tank action scenario that pits German mobility vs French tough armor.	dmareske

Priests at St. Cloud	Come down to the last turn. The Americans got a critical hit with a bazooka shot to kill a French squad and a Priest got a critical hit on the last French building to win the game. From some of the comments I played the Americans very aggressive so the French artillery couldn't get at the Americans.	Lorenzoknight
The Montiguidi Mambo	The Americans have a lot of firepower here but it is difficult to apply. The forward victory buildings are on a hill out of sight of the attackers and the rear building has a great view of most of the approaches to it. It is tough for the attackers to achieve victory in the five turns available to them, particularly against a strong defence like Rich put up. I never really felt that I was threatening to win here and Rich did a great job of keeping the attackers at bay. (VASL Log)	Dougban

Totsugeki!	Japanese attacked on the left. Chinese had dummies on that side; and HIPs in the middle. On Turn 2 Japanese Banzai'd into the middle and lost 2 of 3 CCs losing 13 CVP all told including the 9-1. After that they were on the back foot. They got the gun on the left but a second charge to the middle gun was quickly wiped out and it was all over by T5.	A_Lost_Canadian

Le Hérisson	French used a set-up from an AAR. German attack was based on article in the Annual '96. The sIGs dropped triple smoke on turn one, then on turn 2 DFPh rubbled the hex with 2 MG's and the best French leader. they were in the same hex, but different floors, trying to avoid the smoke. The next turn another hex was rubbled, but the falling rubble KIA'd a German squad as well. A German berserk squad held French fanatic squad and a hero in melee. The Germans reinforced the melee, but the French group survived 3-1 odds and whittled down the Germans turn by turn and came out victorious with a half squad and the hero surviving. Unfortunately for the French that was all that remained unbroken at the end of the game.	Guru Bob
Storm Group Sedelnikov	A small Stalingrad scenario introducing rubbles and building levels by SSR (imho building levels rules lack some details and may cause confusion for novice players unaware of the full ASL rule, as regards adjacent locations, FG and point blank attacks). Elite Russians are attacking to occupy 8 enemy building locations (not control). Russian fire was quite effective and forced the Germans to withdraw from the main building. Reinforcements were cut down. However, the remaining German defenders were able to rally for a last counter-attack... which failed against deadly Russian shots.	lt_steiner
Taking Luneville	Epic scenario requiring us to adjust strategy and tactics as the battle evolved. Germans won after Ami 100 OBA was (again) ineffective and a Panther and PF took out three AFV in turn 6 that broke the back and morale of the defenders. A multi-battle feel requiring very thoughtful execution and an ability to adjust quickly as circumstances change (…a lot). An intricate, well-designed scenario challenges both sides. It plays long and is best played on VASL.	Houlie

Fighting at World's Edge	German set-up was based on an AAR with ATG on the hill in F7. Allied attack was based on an analysis let's play video. The French got both tanks and pushed them up the hill. The HMG in J4 commanded the battlefield, but eventually the squad broke, but rallied and reclaimed the hilltop, only to break again. In the end the Norwegians exited 3 squads and the French 2. The leaders added 4 more VP. A French squad and wounded leader Prep fired on turn 9 at an adjacent squad and leader directly between them and the board-edge. The result pinned the squad. The defensive fire broke the wounded leader, and encircled the squad. The squad advanced into a woods hex, two hexes from the edge instead of into CC. It broke in the German prep phase to leave only 14 VP exited for an exciting ending.	Guru Bob
Turning the Tables	Interesting desert battle. For the British, the puzzle lies in constructing a strong defensive position utilising three known minefields and lots of wire. For the Germans, the puzzle lies in trying to clear a path through the fortifications to allow them to reach the exit. The best weapons for the British are the ATG, HMG and AA Gun. None of them did anything. For the Germans, the Stukas are key. Both of them were gone by the end of turn 3 due to malfunctioned MGs. This allowed me to hide broken units behind sand dunes and maintain a defence. The Germans simply couldn't clear a route through the minefields under fire from British defences and Eric conceded at the end of German turn six	Dougban

The Trial	Went down to the last CC DR with the Russians needing to win a 1:1, but the Germans held fast to the last hex of the factory.	bleyaert62
Esprit Combatif	William and I played at our monthly Conscripts game day, with me defending as the French. As it turns out, my setup was not bad but I needed to use my obstacles more effectively to keep his armored cars out of the center of the town. I used the prepared fire zones to cut down the orchards so they were open ground which got me some nice -2 shots on his advancing infantry, and wire to keep his infantry from gaining access to one of the buildings but it was his armored cars running around all over the place which disrupted my rout paths that was a serious problem. Highlight was my 65* gun going on a rate tear which shredded his MMG kill stack. Lowlights were many and tough to choose from. By the end of Turn 3 I had malf'd all three of my LMGs and my 65* Infantry gun. Both attempts to throw MOLs resulted in me breaking my squads and leaving a flame behind (6 on the colored die both times). And then there was my nerf-gun equipped squads which were totally ineffective at streetfighting against his vehicles. By Turn 4 I had done as much damage to myself with my dice as he had done to me and it was pretty much over. Overall, this is probably one of the better scenarios of this Action Pack since there aren't a whole lot of SSRs and the OB for both sides is pretty reasonable. I'd play this again with a revised setup and hopefully better dice.	Agoldin

No Japanese Within 100 Miles	Great scenario - came down to final banzai charge to clear the hill of only GO Australian unit. The off-board artillery seems like a help but needing to roll a 1 or 2 proved to be impossible to overcome. The additional rate of fire from the Australian MMG's had an impact and multiple banzai charges were needed to clear a path to the hill.	barracuda

Independence Day	Very fun and fun scenario, played as usual with my "Play Both Sides" rules. Scenario comes down to the last turn where two final CC rolls decide who is the winner. The German take advantage of upper levels, and during the last turn they deploy so as to have one HS on the ground level, and one HS on the first level of a couple of buildings. During the final turn the Czech have to break units on the upper levels and engage in CC those at ground level. All goes pretty well, but an Ambush dr is won by the German who retreats from ground to 1st Level, making a win for the Czech impossible. The attacker is strong, but must run fast and take some risks with the Cromwells (which are a very good source of Smoke too). In this playing one Cromwell was taken out by a PF. The Germans must skulk as much as they can, and use the upper levels to make things difficult for the attacker.	AndreaF
Deep Into the French Front	The armored trucks took some shots at the French truck, with one exiting on Turn 1. The French had some decent tries at street fighting but failed each time. Eventually, all the French broke in the village and the Germans were able to mop up.	dmareske

Comfortably Numb	I had the upper hand until Chad's kill stack with the 9-2 just went OFF! Congrats to him on the win, though. He was taking it on the chin for most of the game.	Chuck
Dying for Danzig	I drew the hard-pressed Germans in this one, a wild slugfest from the first phase! Lots of IF, HoB, desperate moves and PF shots that kept the outcome in doubt until turn 5. The Germans are outgunned, but dangerous with two PSK and lots of PF. I put the 88LL in BB9 where it could dominate the road through the middle of the strongpoint. It payed off as the crew survived two turns of CC and killed three AFVs. My luck ran out when I fired PFs from inside Y4L2 in a desperate bid to fend off an OT-34. Jim: This was a ferocious fight! The Soviet force is powerful but small, so picking your risky moves is critical. The key to a Soviet win is "non-Encircled" in the VC. You don't have to kill or break all the Germans (just almost of them). Vic's 9-1 led kill stack in Y2L2 and a 467 skulking in CC8 almost saved him, but I managed to break the last hold-out for the win. This one went down to the last half turn, the sign of a very good scenario that's much more balanced than it looks.	dieneuner25

First Dance	Very interesting scenario played for FNF. Within the first three turns, two French ACs and three German tanks (!) malfunctioned their MAs. One French AC was recalled but while the other didn't attempt to repair. Two German AFVs managed to repair their guns, so my good luck in that regard retrieved the position. The critical moment occurred as early as turn two when the French were attempting to retain control of the vital three hex building in the centre of the board. A favourable CC result at superior odds would probably have done for the Germans but I rolled a 2 that allowed my units to infiltrate and surround the French defenders. The Germans then rolled forward to wipe out the French infantry in the south and Gregg conceded on the penultimate turn. Lots of interesting decisions for both sides here and highly recommend. A Long Way To Go		Osiris09
Ad Hoc at Chef-Du-Pont	The Germans set up with platoons on the flanks guarding the entry avenues and the MMG set up at the head of the exit road. The GIs approached using the woods as cover on both flanks. By turn 3 they had set up two fire groups thanks to the strong leaders being able to regularly rally DM squads. From there they inexorably broke down the German defence, keeping broken squads under DM until the Germans had a lone out of position squad to try and stop the Americans from exiting. Result was a decisive American victory with 6 squads and 2 leaders making it onto the bridge.	ifoxen

The Hegyfarok Hayfork	In our game my opponent tried a central attack up the board seams. It quickly turned into a valley of death. My MMG and HMG both got KIA results in the first turn (HMG took out a 9-2 and 2 airborne squads). Both ATG got a Sherman and 2 PSK got a kill each by turn 3. Russians tried to proceed more cautiously and ran out of time. Good OOB and fun to play but I think the attacker has a tough challenge. 2026 ASL eOpen	nebel

Gallant Mogilev	The Russians setup about 1/3 or his forces West of the river. On Row G they set up 2 wire and two 6 mine fields to prevent a mad rush at the game end. The Germans were not aggressive enough and ran out of time and steam to take the bridge hexes.	slunts

Audacity!	Germans set up on level two of the hill and raked the road squads, breaking two. The French set up in the northern buildings and pushed into the buildings through concealed advances and won in ambush. They were pushed back out when the Germans reinforced the large building. The French reinforcements pushed over the hill. It was slow going for the French, but the tanks "charged" up from the road over the flank of the hill and overran the German leader-led lmg squad. The other had moved south to defend the building. I think the Germans should have pulled these units back to the village, as when the French finally got there, the defense was too thin to cover all the axis of advance. The ATG in O5 immobilized a tank on the hill and forced the crew to bail out, but the crew was able to crawl back in and exact their revenge. Defensive fire on turn 5 broke almost the entire German force, despite several sniper attacks, and the French waltzed in for the victory on turn 6.	Guru Bob

Bamboo Spear Banzai	Japanese tried cat-&-mouse game which seemed to be working until Turn 5 when they were finally cornered and over-whelmed on all sides by US attackers.	Kydder
Priests at St. Cloud	It is tough for me to see how the Americans can win against a competent Vichy player with average luck that remembers to deploy a few squads. I attacked from two sides because of the Vichy OBA. One side lost half of its squads on the way in. My priests were not lucky with SMOKE, although they had some. I could rarely get enough firepower together to break the Vichy troops in stone buildings.	mtrodgers99

The Publications page has had a minor face-lift and I've amended the scenario recommendations to exclude scenarios recommended that have the same name as scenarios you've already played before.

Site updates!

There's some updates to the scenario pages and the "My Page" that help find fun scenarios to play, based on other player's recommendations.

On the scenario page, you can see other scenarios that have been rated highly, based upon user ratings who have rated the initial scenario highly. (It's all a bit complex but it does try to quell the problem of good, popular scenarios outranking lesser played scenarios that might have a higher correlation).

On your "My Page" I've updated the games played and the publications owned tables to be a little more useful, and made an effort to speed up the rendering of the page, too. There's also a scenario recommender on there that takes into account scenarios that you have rated highly, and the input of other players - and checking that you haven't already played that scenario before (no promises on scenarios that have been released multiple times though, currently!)
