The Last Roadblock	Used set-ups from two different AAR. It was a disaster for the allies. It was almost over by turn 2 and I called it.	Guru Bob
The Hegyfarok Hayfork	In our game my opponent tried a central attack up the board seams. It quickly turned into a valley of death. My MMG and HMG both got KIA results in the first turn (HMG took out a 9-2 and 2 airborne squads). Both ATG got a Sherman and 2 PSK got a kill each by turn 3. Russians tried to proceed more cautiously and ran out of time. Good OOB and fun to play but I think the attacker has a tough challenge. 2026 ASL eOpen	nebel

Gallant Mogilev	The Russians setup about 1/3 or his forces West of the river. On Row G they set up 2 wire and two 6 mine fields to prevent a mad rush at the game end. The Germans were not aggressive enough and ran out of time and steam to take the bridge hexes.	slunts

Audacity!	Germans set up on level two of the hill and raked the road squads, breaking two. The French set up in the northern buildings and pushed into the buildings through concealed advances and won in ambush. They were pushed back out when the Germans reinforced the large building. The French reinforcements pushed over the hill. It was slow going for the French, but the tanks "charged" up from the road over the flank of the hill and overran the German leader-led lmg squad. The other had moved south to defend the building. I think the Germans should have pulled these units back to the village, as when the French finally got there, the defense was too thin to cover all the axis of advance. The ATG in O5 immobilized a tank on the hill and forced the crew to bail out, but the crew was able to crawl back in and exact their revenge. Defensive fire on turn 5 broke almost the entire German force, despite several sniper attacks, and the French waltzed in for the victory on turn 6.	Guru Bob

Iwabuchi's Sarcophagus	Japanese lost CVP cap with the American Flamethrowers dealing out death.	Kydder
La Mort de Charlemagne	Both sides setup very aggressively, ending up with 4 hexes starting in CC, inflicting great CVP losses for both sides prior to Turn 3. All movement from the start was fatal ... quickly reached CVP cap for Russian win.	Kydder
Melting Pot	I believe that I bid for the defending Germans and Peter bid for the attacking Allies. I set up dummies in a woods line at the back of the entry board, including one dummy tank on my left. The real tank was on the right, but behind the woods line that the dummies shared. I decided to use the AT gun to fight infantry in the town center. I bore sighted one multi-hex building across the street from it. I had the MMG in the steeple and a unit on level one to see over some center hedges. There was only one good spot I could find for the German light mortar. There is a few hexes of road on the German right with woods in sight at both ends. I had forgotten that the Allies received four smoke counters on turn one that they could put anywhere. Two went on dummy stacks and two went on my level one and level two units. Peter took advantage of the smoke to move big stacks with armoured assault. He even moved one TD in front of the dummy tank. In the AFPh, however, disaster struck. He rolled the German sniper which recalled one TD. During the German turns, I deployed often. The Allied thrust on the German right had problems with the German light mortar. Its TD moved into the one hex where the mortar could see it. I sighed to myself when I realized I forgot to bore sight it. By luck I hit the TD and shocked it. The shock went to UK and later to eliminated. That mortar also later rolled a CH against a squad that ran in front of it. The other two Allied thrusts had more average success. They worked their way into the town and the German units pulled back. Some of the HS survived longer than expected, so the British were running out of time when Peter decided to concede.	mtrodgers99

Fighting Withdrawal	The first assault wave was pushed back by Russian fire. The defenders were able to make any Finnish progress as costly as possible. The Finns got some successes in close combat, only to find the Russian still defending farther South. Self-rally was not always successful, putting the Finns behind schedule. The Russians were eventually able to exit 3 squads, a leader and a commissar. The Finns were one or two turns short to exit anyone. Fun scenario.	lt_steiner

I was glad that my AT Mines finally got a hit on something, and a sneakily placed AT Gun did manage to score a couple of kills on trucks, but by the time those things happened, the vast majority of my forces were incapacitated or locked down in some bad spots where the end was just a matter of time. Legio Patria Nostra	The German 75 malfunctioned in turn 2 leaving the West flank exposed and letting the bulk of the French forces through, while the rest held the fortified building and captured the large building East of the hill. The 20mm AA kept peppering the fortified position, but was often pinned by the mortar, and the crew eventually broke from long-range rifle fire. Fantastic scenario.	Doolan

French Spirit	Nor'Easter 2026. Charlie's French started breaking Germans early and never let up., taking the village early at almost no cost. I tried to retake a couple of VC buildings, but my counter-attack was shattered. Not enough troops left to do the job. Well-played by Charlie.	ubertripp
Loser Takes All	Interesting scenario. Russians are surrounded and have to pull off collapsing defense, as the Germans have the speed and firepower to surround and crush. But the VC are tough...Russians only need one MMC left in the set-up area. My AT-mines took out two tanks, and my ART guns helped too. I had one SU-100 left for the end-game, and I had set up an Alamo in a multi-level building. Germans ran out of time.	ubertripp

Bottcher's Corner	I won with the Americans, which the dice gave to me. Japanese set up first, but the Americans move first. The Japanese needed to set up away from the victory area. The 10-2 led stack got to the victory area during their turn one. The approaches to the area were covered enough that the Japanese had no easy fast approach. The American reinforcements split; one group headed for the victory area and the other moved to interfere with the Japanese reinforcements. A few Japanese units reached the victory area, but not enough to push out the Americans.	mtrodgers99
Sugar Cane Shuffle	I set up strong on the Japanese left to move through a big kunai field. I had about a platoon in the center to interdict American lateral moves. Contrary to common practice, I was moving stacks of two squads to have decent fire groups in the kunai. I also deployed three or four squads because you can rally them when they fail a MC. My Japanese leaders eliminated four or more of them. Eventually I needed to banzai to get through the kunai to the Americans. Seth had four firelanes going, two from LMG, two from MMG. He had some good DR so I took some casualties. They reached the Americans and found three wire at the end of the kunai. The two SPA were parked adjacent to the kunai. Lucky for me, the Japanese sniper removed one of them. The remaining SPA was doing point blank damage, but I managed to eliminate it with a mortar that I carried up there. I had my only smoke of the game to help a lot of units head toward the exit. In the penultimate turn, Seth and I counted up the CVP the Japanese had inflicted and the probable exit VP. Simple Equation	A well-placed German MG gave the Americans a bit of a headache, but in the end their overwhelming firepower and some lucky rolls won the day. A fun scenario that highlights the differences between both sides' infantry and equipment.	Doolan
Late for Chow	First scenario with bocage for the defender. The Germans entered through the middle corridor, and struggled to get halfway, but once they were in board 54, the American fallback defense couldn't keep up. The reinforcements were a breath of fresh air, and around Turns 4-5, it could have gone both ways. But the Americans took risks that they shouldn't have, and victory was conceded in German Turn 6.	mestravis

From Desert to Jungle	Hard fought game. Japanese failed too many morale checks, which allowed the ANZACS to take the location and then exit 6 points. A Hero was created and the ANZAC hero held the line to allow the ANZAC 9-1 to exit and achieve the victory locations.	grumblejones
One-Man Wrecking Machine		JimT1277
Jungle Citadel	I attacked mostly up the Chinese right. I was too cautious with my Chinese troops at the beginning because of hidden panjis, mines and pillboxes.. In turn six of twelve around 9 PM in the evening, I suffered several severe setbacks; combined with the time of day, I decided to concede. The main Japanese defene on the Chinese right was close to the early victory building.	mtrodgers99
Massacre au Paradis	British defense based on Let'sPlay video. The 81mm mortar fired smoke turn one in front of the British positions in V4 and then managed more on turn 2 and a double on turn 3. This allowed pretty free movement for the Germans, focusing on Q7 and P3. German squads broke, but the attack was spread out with large mult-ihex firegroups. The British didn't really fall back and eventually too many of them broke in place and surrendered. Two turns of bloody CC in R5 and R6 ended with the Germans in control of the center. The two surviving British squads could not prevent the Germans from swinging around the flanks to take the victory buildings needed.	Guru Bob
One Down, Two to Go		Pantera
First Dance	This is a typical Gary Fortenberry design - you need to be very careful about and aware of just about anything. The VC need very careful scrunity. You need to differentiate between CVP and VP. You better make darn sure you understand SSR1 about the Grain. You'd better be aware of the implications of the vehicles carrying the Infantry to be recalled / removed from play once the footloggers disembark. Hex-Control and Building-Control, entry hexes, the working of Shellholes, which places can you reach with your MP/MF, and so on. Some might conclude unless you're one of the top-dogs, you better play this more than once to understand what's going on. Some love this type of Fortenberry riddles, others find them at times exasperating. A puzzle. That said, the scenario itself is exciting. It is kind of hard to tell which side is actually attacking and defending - at times you'll be doing both at the same time. And in this lies certainly the attraction of this design. I played the, well, defending (?) French in this one. Despite being aware of the Fort-style designs and thus taking considerable time looking up stuff and pondering things, I did not catch all important things that were relevant. Luckily, this did not screw me up, but it could have. All in all, I got the French onto the board into reasonably good positions, I believe. Then luck was on my side: I managed to kill four German AFV by low odds shots beside other kills, which made a big difference, because it inflicted a lot of CVP to the Germans. Of course, the brittle French armored cars were under huge pressure when the German armored reinforcements came in, but two of them were lucky enough to escape the first German counter-attack weakened by my lucky kills. Ultimately, this is what broke the German's neck as the CVP gap was to high that it met the CVP-gap French win option in mid game.	von Marwitz
Ace in the Hole	A great scenario. We used the side selection rules which ended up granting Balance to me (the Americans) which gave them an extra turn. The Americans were able to dispatch the 4x German tanks in relatively short order (first 2 1/2 turns) and only lost one immobilized Sherman at that point. I think the Americans could have won even without the extra turn but they used every turn possible to win, mainly because they could. A great scenario and the CVP cap is a critical component to the scenario balance as the Americans almost blew it on the last turn by giving the Germans a chance to steal victory from the jaws of defeat by placing their remaining Pershing a bit too close to some infantry with PFs at the ready. Failure to Communicate	We played this version (WO2010) rather than the one reprinted in Croix de Guerre, which has the German AFVs enter in Turn 2 rather than Turn 3. A word of caution about this making a possible difference. The French opted for the second 25LL gun at setup. The village with 4 multi-hex buildings was, as expected, the epicenter of combat, with blazed vehicles from both sides and lots of CC. On the opposite side of the board, several of the German AFVs managed to reach the far end and maneuver comfortably, given that one French gun malf'ed and was eventually X'ed. At the end of German Turn 6, a French squad with the 10-2 leader was holding on the village, menacing retaking some building control in the last French turn. So the Germans tried to CC them, but lost, triggering the VP cap. Only two German vehicles were lost, one with a malf'ed MA, so totaling only 9 VPs; the rest were mostly HS, two squads, and a 8-0 leader.	mestravis
The Wounded Beast	OK scenario, though not the best. Won as the Germans despite malf'ing the JgPzV MA on its first shot. But got my JgPzIVs round to the American rear, which limited the options for their reinforcements. The Americans chose to withdraw gradually rather than engage in firefights or CC so I was able to gain control of three multi-he buildings relatively easily. A couple of good DRs then crushed any chance of an American counterattack.	Andy_Bagley
Hussar Hussar	Another scenario where simply stacking an entire mobile force in one vector could easily lead to a victory without much thought or engagement to be had. Scenarios with multiple maps and an insufficient number of Guns to cover all of the possible/likely routes just leads to a boring sequence of movement and praying that you have a Gun that can do something. Maybe mandating a gun per board and a set amount of vehicles doing the same? Eh, not fun.	Jobbo_Fett
Hotly Contested Town	The bulk of the German assault came in from the east central, with only a token unit entering SW. I was expecting a bull rush from the south central (as this was the area I attacked heaviest), so I placed all my wire and most of my AT mines in this area, but I defended all avenues. Planes did very little to soften the defense, as I kept most units in good cover. Excellent smoke placement in Turn 2 neutered my planned FLs, and I rather helplessly watched the blue mass swarm to the doorsteps of the first buildings. Tanks entered east central to support; Germans lost a HS. The first of my guns (45L) made an appearance, and was promptly abandoned, its crew hiding from the German horde. Turn 3 was rather quiet, with the Germans hiding within copious smoke, and the Russians trying to maintain concealment. The Germans grabbed three buildings, exposed a dummy tank, and took a squad prisoner. Gusts on Turn 4 blew away the smoke, but it had already served its purpose of granting safe passage of the Germans to town. The first half of Turn 4 saw the fighting thicken, with the Russians losing two crews and another dummy tank. The Germans lost a squad and saw the radio operator brained by a sniper. The building count was now 10. The Russians had a good half of their turn, knocking out their first three tanks. They lost 1.5 squads vs a German HS. It was becoming obvious that the mid west part of town would be the alamo, but enough pockets of resistance still stood in the NE and SW parts of the board to draw off German resources from the main assault. First half of Turn 5 saw the Germans control all but eight buildings, though it had been costly, losing 2.5 548s, and a Panther to a sneaky LOS from the T-70 (who was quickly becoming the star of the game). Russian reinforcements were welcome, as expected shoring up the mid west part of town. Body count was one Russian squad to a German HS. The Russians reclaimed 56N6, leaving them in control of all buildings west of the road. Turn 6 saw the Germans lose yet another tank to a sneaky LOS from the T-70, and had another immobilized. They made no further progress, but eliminated a Russian squad and hero. The bottom of the turn saw an SU76-M knock out another tank, only to be taken out himself in DFPh. Down to only two mobile vehicles (the other Panther and a PzIVH with both permanently broken MGs), and with the Lees and a T34 protecting the streets, the Germans decided to call it a day. I'm not a big fan of the CoS pack, but this is a very good scenario with lots of replay value.	buser333

L'Union Fait la Force	I used a German set-up from a Let's Play which put the MMG and the lt. mortar in the north woods. The Belgians moved into the large grainfield, while trying to get their MMG across open ground to the wooden building in the south. The mortar advanced into the north end of the grain. The Belgian mortar was able to neutralize the MMG on turn 2, while the MMG made it to the wooden building as well. The Germans in the grain stood and fought for a turn and then fell back. The Belgians were able to break all of the defenders in the south woods, except for a hero which fell in cc. Two German squads along with their 7-0 leader were taken prisoner along with the mortar hs. By turn 3 the Germans were down to one good order squad, which was not positioned to stop the southern rush to the victory area.	Guru Bob
The Dogs of War	MM2026 I was ROA. Paul Works as baddies in black / Dan Plachta as Partisans. Partisans focused on slowing the SS initially which worked until the 10-2 went down. I pushed the other way slowly exposing and clearing dummies. Then things went south. FT burned out and both T34 malfd and recalled. Got a couple HS into the bldg but they couldn’t stand up to the 658 wave. SS were unstoppable then.	nebel
Paratrooper's Hell	Fun scenario. German victory aided by a pretty accurate parachute drop on Turn 1 - only 2 units broke and they had safe routs. Germans were able to get two squads off the board before the allies shut down exit paths which helped on Victory Conditions. My opponents through a monkey wrench in my plans when his half squad eliminated a squad I planned on using to hold a key location with a snake eyes roll in CC.	barracuda
N-463	The Germans held their tank destroyers on Turn 1, hoping that their infantry would stumble upon the French AT gun. This was not successful, but the AT gun eventually only got the one "surprise" shot out of HIP, blazing a German JgdPz, before being neutralized. The Shermans maneuvered at will and kept the German infantry in check, although more than enough FP was barely one hex away from having LOS to the supply road by the German final turn. Eventually, one Sherman blazed the second JgdPz and another landed a mortal blow on a strong stack, making the German win impossible. Very interesting scenario, where the German tank destroyers are encouraged to not use their HE, and the French has a lot of area to cover.	mestravis

All That Glitters	Lots of options for both defense and attack. Lots of ground to cover so the partisans have to pick a strategy based on what the defender gives him. Central village is likely the key as there are limited options for victory without controlling at least some of it. The AA guns caused mayhem on the attacking squads in our game 2 RoF with 12 of the IFT is nasty. Opponent cleared the village in turn 3 but couldn’t get thru the valley of death. MM2026	nebel

Crossing Chaos	The Belgian hero has two opportunities to blow the bridge in turn 3, just dr 1 or 2. That puts a lot of pressure on the German to get to the bridge, clutter it with wrecks and get the infantry across on turn 2. It is petal to the medal scenario. The French just have to delay the crossing. If the Belgian hero does not detonate in the top of 3, the Germans get another chance to flood the zone but French vehicles will have the bridge in LOS. Reclaiming Hill 772	Americans rolled over the Italians like a tidal wave over a sand castle. Wires and mines were ineffective. Once a couple Italian squads broke there was little for the Italians to do on their turns. Americans shrugged off the -2 shots. Italian highlight was a crazy 7-0 leader who would not roll over and held two American HS in melee.	RJenulis

What's Up Yours?	Bottom board can likely be omitted, the squad reinforcements don't really matter either. Not a super fun scenario because of setup limitations and first turn movement for the British. Probably a better idea to rush via the river side rather than the orchard/grain? I was pretty ruthless with my defensive setup, being hyper aggressive and taking full advantage of line of sight. Just became a frustrating scenario for the attacker.	Jobbo_Fett

Having a Go	FNF game. This is a quick firefight between a lightly armed elite company of British paratroopers and a decidedly average German defending force. I set up a HS on the opposite side of the bridge while the rest of the defenders took up position with three squads watching the stream on the German left flank and covering the bridge. The British assault was mostly concentrated on the German left with a couple of squads pushing up the middle under cover of smoke. The foxhole SSR allowed placement of fire lanes down both streets running through the village and the Germans also benefited from the change to the foxhole rule allowing skulking. On the the final turn, the Germans were still solidly in control of three buildings. The British don't have much time to achieve their objective and the defence can make life difficult by deploying and occupying multi-level buildings with HS. Even broken units can play a part in denying the British control of two level hexes. It also didn't hurt when the British failed to win a crucial CC at odds of two to one on the penultimate turn. Nice scenario if you are looking for something that isn't too rules intensive and it can be played easily in less than three hours.	Dougban

Yankee Pride	Up to defender if they want to win or not. Difficult for US against a good setup. My setup wasn’t ideal but it did allow me to eliminate 3 US squads for FTR. This and some poor rolling in prep fire left the US mostly stuck at the start line without sufficient time to achieve the objectives. MM2026	nebel
Crossing Chaos	This scenario is all about ROF of the French ATG. In this game the ATG were out of tanks to kill in 2.5 turns and had already pinned and or broken at least 3 infantry targets (1 on the IFT). In short his dice were hot and mine were not. Opponent also successfully blew the bridge in T3 to end game. MM2026	nebel
First Dance	An enjoyable encounter scenario which is great for honing your armour skills. The Germans look outmatched by the Somua’s but somehow all 3 were KO for the loss of only 1 38(t) Immobilised. I certainly had the better of the DRs there including an IF CH vs a HD S-35. The battle for the central building took the whole scenario to resolve, with the Germans just edging it. They also had enough armour left to secure the 3VP double hex control victory locations in the final turn and thus secure the win	Simonstan

The Publications page has had a minor face-lift and I've amended the scenario recommendations to exclude scenarios recommended that have the same name as scenarios you've already played before.

Site updates!

There's some updates to the scenario pages and the "My Page" that help find fun scenarios to play, based on other player's recommendations.

On the scenario page, you can see other scenarios that have been rated highly, based upon user ratings who have rated the initial scenario highly. (It's all a bit complex but it does try to quell the problem of good, popular scenarios outranking lesser played scenarios that might have a higher correlation).

On your "My Page" I've updated the games played and the publications owned tables to be a little more useful, and made an effort to speed up the rendering of the page, too. There's also a scenario recommender on there that takes into account scenarios that you have rated highly, and the input of other players - and checking that you haven't already played that scenario before (no promises on scenarios that have been released multiple times though, currently!)
