11th Company Counterattack	Interesting situation. Finnish tanks went low ammo early and only got one hit (PTC result). One disabled and recalled and the other got the DC placed on it after it fired it's MA resulting in a burning wreck. Good order Russians were still in several locations around the map on turn 5 and the Finns couldnt get to them all... TTT2026	nebel

Poteau Party	When I saw the amount of German material coming at me, I wondered how the Americans show as favored in ROAR and why I gave the balance. The CVP cap is the answer. One Panther dead is a quarter of the CVP cap. The Americans won this match when the Germans had gone half way across the board. We had heavy falling snow from the first turn onward.	mtrodgers99

The Bridge at Ramelle	My Americans rolled extremely poorly on the initial Defensive Fire. Dan's Germans created a Hero and KIA'd my hero in the Belltower and broke the 7-0. I MALF'd my first Bazooka shot and that was game. I conceded after Dan's Tiger got a crit hit on a pinned 7-4-7 on the bridge, which KIA's the 7-4-7 and destroyed the SET DC. I was not meant to win this one...the Dice Gods have spoken.	grumblejones
The Lion, Driven	Came down to last player turn, Three CCs near the southern board edge failed to achieve any results leaving the Japanese “not in GO” adjacent to the VC road. The FINAL CC was a 248 that advanced into J2 with a 347. The Japanese obtained ambush, but Chad had expertly blocked all VC hexes forcing an attack (vs. an ambush withdrawal). The Japanese 3-2 (-2) attack prevailed for the win. The game went to FINAL CC DR. A super fun scenario!	Houlie

Damsels in Distress	Early Greek losses to hot dice were soon replaced with breaks and eventual losses by the Italians. The Greeks still had a hard time of it, getting to the top of the hill around Turn 4, which limited how many partisans would appear in the town to help out the attacker. There's a neat dynamic with having to protect the prisoners, prevent the Greeks from getting to Level 3 on the hill, and also preventing them from entering the town and taking advantage of the high TEM afforded. For me, it came down to the last CC roll and a bad enough roll that the Italian Squad was only reduced, not killed, and thus they sealed the victory. Easily replayable, not too complex.	Jobbo_Fett
Destined to Defeat	Entertaining this one... Very much recommended but definitely a meatier scenario than it looks. Lots to think about. I had a little Jap mortar fail to bring smoke to protect his tank buddies but instead rolled consecutive CH on the stuart instead. Stuart down crew bailed and down... Japanese then pushed gleefully forward with one squad moving adjacent to some green-o's who decided to FPF... and roll snakes - wait that doesnt cower off - that's an HOB going berserk to kill the squad and then charge one of my tanks. Down to the wire it's AFPh - I felt good with control of all but one stone building that had a DC on it adjacent to a wood building with the HMG and Squad where I also placed a good DC... DC goes off and gets a 3MC but it's snakes and HOB with a hero. I get the stone buildings but cant stop the hero and squad from getting back into the fortified building. game over... I could not get ambush w/stealthy japanese against the Filipino lax HS... kept getting mutual kills.	nebel
Per L'Onore Di Roma	This is a quick one. My mortar got rate in the first half of first turn and decimated 3 squads and a leader. They routed to some woods where i continued to hammer them for the next 2 turns until only one HS left. Elsewhere I blunted most of the initial offensive in good position to hold the village. His reinforcements had a good flank move on the South entry but i got a good roll on a 1 flat and pinned the leader and one crew and broke another crew and two squad. At that my opponent couldn't handle the Italian bravery any further and conceded. TTT2026	nebel

Fontenay By Day	When the Creepy Barrage lifted I only had a couple HS sere behind it. I pincher attacked as the flanks were lightly defended. Moved quickly to the rear of the village and then the OBA pinned Germans in the church. This is a big complicated scenario and it was fun. TTT2026	nebel

Toridasu!	Something of a dicey game, with few long range weapons, largely with B11, and Light Dust. Rich came on using the northern ridge to protect his entry, which could have ended badly for him as the 76 ART was facing that section. 76 malf'ed on 2nd or 3rd shot without a hit, and promptly disabled. The Mongol MMGs were pretty good, especially using firelanes, which slowed up the cavalry, but collapsed in a heap from the inevitable 1MC from a 6fp attack (inevitable because it had to happen being the target of much fire). Jap tanks ran the length if the board to take furthest hill, and then return to the central hill. Jap victory sealed in the fional CC Phase when a Mongol sqd got reduced trying to withdraw from melee into a vacant 3rd level hex. Mongols were annihilated.. (VASL Log)	Minedog

Roma Victor	Nick had a stellar attack. He continually forced the issue with me and then on turn 4/5, his artillery really put the punishment to me. In the end, great win by the Italians, and the German Bridge Engineers is a pretty unique twist. Great fun!	von Garvin
Amerikanskaya Suka	Played the Russian in this one. My opponent covered every multihex building with something. At the price of a burning Truck which tood a squad with it, a T-34/85 tank blown up, and a 628 squad broken, which never came back until we stopped, I managed to break through the forward German defense and to grab the 71N4 building early. Besides that, I rushed a truck into the FrFA village to unload next to a multihex building with a stack of two counters in it, which did suspiciously not attack. It turned out not to be a Dummy but a halfsquad, which I overcame in CC. This would force the Germans to assign some units to the FrFA village to kick me out of there again. The main push of the Germans with all Panthers came came from the south-east aiming at the 71Z6 building. A minor force, which did include an 8-0 Leader and the FT entered to evict me from the FrFAZ5 building. While the latter worked without much ado, the Germans lost one of the Panthers close to the 71Z6 building after what proved to be a too bold move. Besides that, there was nothing much I could do against his Panthers, which - in turn - killed two of my M-10s which had tried all sorts of shenanigans to get at them. I could slow the German infantry approaching the 71Z6 building a little wasting some good opportunities to no effect. In the northern bd71 village, the situation was much better: I had captured two squads and the 8-0 Leader and eventually also appropriated both German MGs. The German 7-0 survived an overrung by a T-34/85 but at long last paid the ultimate price after repeatedly re-DM'ing one of my squads when the Russian 9-1 fired the captured German LMG from the HIP like Rambo, cutting down the German Leader with snakes. To improve my options in that building, after pondering the matter for a good while, I went "Russian" and decided to Massacre two squad-equivalents worth of German POWs plus their captured 8-0. My position in the 71N4 village was strong enough, that I could even despatch one 628 to break through into the Russian rear, also capturing the 71Q3 building. Since the Germans only had two squads plus the PSK but no leaders left in the bd71 village, the cause there was practically decided in favor of the Russians, So the game would be decided over the 71Z6 building. When it became clear, that the Russian position in the bd71 village was consolidated, I grabbed the chance just in time to rush over 3x 458 with 2xLMG next to it. So the decisive cluster of building was well manned. It played into my hands, that two burning wrecks kindled the grain in front of the 71Z6 building, which impeded the powerful German infantry advance. In the 71Q9 area, a cluster of three Russian AFV had cornered one of the Jagdpanzers, which survived the initial swarm popping Smoke and going into Motion, but in the upcoming turn, the writing for it was on the wall. From that area on the flank, I would then be able to cover the street in front of the 71Z6 building. At this point, we called it a day: There were two terrain blazes and three flames in the grain, the 71Z6 building cluster was strongly manned, the approaches along the street in front of that building covered by AFV fire and a potential FireLane of the captured German MMG. Despite two of the powerful Panthers still operational, it appeared that the challenges for the German infantry would be too hard to overcome in the time which was left. von Marwitz	von Marwitz

Night March	A short nighttime skirmish to warm up before the CG. I took a bold approach by creating two Kill Stacks, sending out half-squads first to remove the “?” from the defenders. After a brief exchange of fire, the Germans fled into the darkness or surrendered, and the Red Devils quickly moved toward the bridge. Note: According to the Arnhem Special Rule in TB3, only German SMCs are SS, while German MMCs are not SS !	Ireneusz

The Katanas Come Out at Night	What seemed like a very grim and torrid time for the Japanese struggling across Board 73 was eventually made good by a Banzai charge up the hill. The main difficulty with the scenario was not the night rules, but the terrain changes.	Minedog

War of the Rats	The Germans' main attack came from the northeast in an attempt to get an early foothold into the VC buildings. Out west, a diversionary force kept the Russians from shifting reinforcements to the east. An early push from the Germans was met with well place fire from Russian 1st line squads forcing the Germans to temporarily fall back. Russian conscripts attempted a mad dash to try and bolster their positions, but the German counterattack arrived before they could get to the front lines and soon they had a foothold across the street. The Russians withstood withering fire and were able to lock the Germans in melee in several buildings. It was the Germans who first broke out of melee and began to push west to envelope the Russians currently engaged with a small force of Germans still across the street. The Germans broke another melee and moved to establish a defense in anticipation of the expected Russian ad hoc shock group to come... but for the Russians, the reinforcements, late to arrive, we forced to through everything at the eastern building. As Luck Would Have It	The Brits were able to destroy all 4 German AFV's, but their right flank just collapsed. They weren't able to stop the Germans from exiting the board.	usmcwo1
Husum Hotfoot	I set the 81mm mortar up in a forward location and was lucky to score a hit on one of Rob's Wasps. The other Wasp was abandoned on a failed MC and this put a big hole in the Brit's firepower. Despite losing a 3-2 CC the Germans were able to hold their own and withdraw in good order. The HMG at Level 1 made open ground approaches in the centre suicidal and in the end Rob just ran out of time.	Nicho11
Hammer Time	The Germans attacked hard and quickly neutralized a MMG on the hill. The Belgians were pushed back from the hill but the panzers infiltrate their rears and flanked som defenders. The AT gun was unable to pierce German armor and the crew ended eliminated by MG fire. The French armor arrived and shocked a panzer but they still were not able to destroy it. With half of Belgian infantry unable to defend and a German force still intact, my opponent resigned. Lots of bad luck in the Belgian TK whereas German fire was quite deadly accurate. Boot's Scoot and Boogie	The Germans had 1 good smoke roll with a squad and then everything went downhill, barely ever passing a morale check, among other problems. I must've rolled about 6 boxcars for the Germans and nothing bad for the Dutch until about turn 3. There's a fun scenario in the weeds on this one, but I think the Germans could use an MMG or something other than a dinky mortar. The split victory condition is neat and adds some tension	Jobbo_Fett
Shoot or Shovel	The Marines can dish out the firepower, but couldn't take it, as they failed nearly every MC at the crucial times. Enjoyable game though.	Gamer72
Late for Chow	Germans pushed right up the middle as expected but the Americans had to spread the defense in order to discourage an attempt to push hard down one of the flanks. Americans kept falling back and harassing but not really able to do any significant damage. Turns 5-6 saw the Germans pushing to the last hedgerow. The Americans managed to do some damage on both flanks forcing the main German push directly into the middle. American 6 saw the US being able to setup a strong defense in the last 2-hexes of the board and channel the Germans into a small corridor for an exit. The superior US firepower, especially with PB fire and also a number of FPF chances caused too much damage to the Germans for them to make the necessary 8VP.	sdedier
Shoot or Shovel	I waited until T2 to launch the Bandai’s which are almost inevitable in this scenario to enable the Japanese to get through the slow going Kunai and threaten the USMC close to the woods line, using T1 to do some recon. Despite getting some Smoke, I couldn’t fully avoid Fire Lanes going down and whilst I took some HS casualties, I generally got across the board and wrapped up I think it was 3 USMC squads that turn. As my opponent reports, he failed more MC than he passed which doesn’t help and saw a relatively comfortable Japanese win. Fun scenario, although as others have reported it would be fair to say it is something a given how the opposing sides will initially setup with the Japanese Gun / MGs / Mtrs primarily on the hill crest line to Prep at the (mainly) entrenched Marines	Simonstan
No Time for Tigers	Robert attempted to extricate his Tiger instead of shooting it out. The first shot hit the hull with APDS and could not penetrate, the next 76(w) retained rate and hit, the rate shot on the next MP expenditure hit ... that's a recall result, but the roll was 1,1 and turned the vehicle into a burning wreck. The rest was cleaning up. Should have shot it out. With the -1 AL and the large Sherman targets, the Tiger can handle itself against multiple Shermans.	Larry

Midnight Massacre	Closely fought scenario which lived up to its title as my Americans were, for the most part, massacred. Operation Hubertus	Day 1 was a real grind fest with a gridlocked south, Germans shut out of the Q34 factory, and some real back and forth over the R38 factory which nearly shattered the entire Pioneer Coy in charge there. Some moderate gains were made in the center which left Dean concerned about getting cutoff. He pushed a counter offensive in the north with almost overran the Germans there. We took a rest on day 2 with both sides stacking up for the next assault. Day 3 opened with the fury of Hell as German assault tactics vastly improved from the first day in both application and dice rolls. OBA mortar smoked chokes out the Russian deathstack towers as german snipers picked them off. The opening assault led to 15 stone locations captured in the first turn. As German units advanced into the growing gap in the Russian line and German kdr began reaching 4 to 1, Russia conceded once the realization hit that the main German offensive surrounded and squeezed factory Q34 and sturm companies quickly advanced up under his deathstacks.	feralhuntsman
Oktyabr's Hubertus	Maybe the Russian setup could have been better, but this was an absolute slaughter. Russians held the north day 1 but lost most of the south and half the center. Day 2 had Germans with a foothold in the SE factory and control of the slagheap. Day 3 a Russian counter retook the slag, but left them almost completely pushed out of everywhere else. Given Russian were almost surrounded and completely outnumbered, Russians conceded after day 3.	feralhuntsman
Wons Enough	The Dutch defended the tree line for a two turns and then fell back. The MMG was in the steeple and the MRT on the hill, though it had limited sight. The Germans had a hard time passing MCs and their vehicles were stunned often. We called the game in Turn 6 with few Germans able to rid the Dutch from their positions. A unique event happened as the Dutch sniper broke two half squads guarding prisoners, the prisoners revolted and killed one of the half squads in Melee, the other one died in the subsequent Melee. It forced the Germans to back up and not go forward. Good scenario, might be hard on the Germans, but the balance is significant.	dmareske

Unfamiliar Land	Quick play with a short, tight firefight. Germans pushed T1 forces down N edge, with T2 forces secondary push on S edge. Established firebase in central woods (mortars and lmgs) to interfere with Russian repositioning and cover any need to shift main attack axis. Which is almost guaranteed to happen when Russian T3 reinforcements enter due to their unique entry options. This time they came in literally right on top of my northern push just hexes from exit, wiping out all but one sqd. However I was able to shift remaining emphasis to the southern push and started T6 with enough poised to exit to ensure victory, and Russian had nothing left to stop them. T2 German force has enough VP to win on its own, let alone with anything else that gets off. Seems important to keep the Russian spread out, and especially get him to commit his reinforcements one way, then make an exit push the other. Good fight and great opponent.	RMod

The Crown of Thorn	FNF game. Tony was well and truly diced in this one. The German MMG was in the steeple under the command of the 9-1 leader and tore the US infantry apart. By turn two, the Americans were down to two unbroken squads and were down two AFVs including one of the Shermans and he decided to call it at that point. Tricky scenario for the attackers with so much open ground to cover and minefields in the only available rout terrain. (VASL Log)	Dougban

88s at Zon	Hearing reports of 88s in the area, Americans proceeded cautiously probing the hill, the eastern route, as well as the route through the village of Zon. Determining the village to be the "safer" route, the Americans marched in full force only to come face to face with a Flak 18. [unbeknownst to us SK2 newbies, we missed the rule (1.2.6- last sentence) that disallows the 88's from setting up HiP in buildings] After falling breaking and falling back, the Americans pressed the assault routing out the 88's crew from the squads that probed the hill outside the village giving their broken comrades enough time to rally back and continue the advance into Zon. However, the courageous moment was short-lived as the squads moved into Zon from the hill they came under fire from the other, undiscovered 88 (also hidden in a building... see above). Rallying back once again, the Americans had had enough and enveloped the German squads nearby intending to bypass the gun. In doing so, the remaining Germans on the hill moved to take up positions on the ridge line to deny the Americans an easy advance to the south. With time against them, the Americans rallied once more and pressed the advance. Overwhelming the Germans defenses the Americans cleared Zon and proceeded south out of the city to seize the bridge over the Wilhelmina River. (VASL Log)	toddgrx

Point 171	In DftB Point 171, playing the British against Fred, I chose a reverse slope defence on the hillock: the 88 hidden on the position, the 40L farther back, and the ATRs covering the sangars and foxholes at close range. The idea was to avoid revealing the GUNs too early, since with Italian vehicles moving, vehicular dust and Light Dust, long-range three-dice shots did not look very attractive. The logic was not wrong, but I applied it too cautiously: I let the Italian tanks and infantry get too close, and they reached my line almost together, without being properly separated, except partially on my right flank. At that point the defence stopped being orderly and became a close-range brawl around the sangars and foxholes. The GUNs still did their job: the 88 killed two tanks, while the 40L killed two more and shocked another; there was also a very ASL moment when an overconfident Italian SPG came too close to the Indian infantry and was destroyed in melee. However, the early breakdown of the MMG and mortar from Turn 2 hurt badly, reducing my firepower against the Italian infantry, while the ATRs wasted huge chances: two adjacent underbelly hits with no effect, plus three more close-range shots that achieved nothing. The Italian tanks in my rear were also a major problem, not only because they threatened the positions, but because they caused failure to rout situations and the capture of broken squads, speeding up the collapse of the defence. Even so, the game was still alive on Turn 5: I still controlled four well-scattered foxholes, but with no GUNs left and two tanks plus one SPG still running, the Italians probably had enough strength to finish the job. The technical lesson is fairly clear: in this scenario the British probably need to start firing earlier, not necessarily to destroy everything at long range, but to slow the Italians down, separate tanks from infantry, create friction and disrupt the timing of the attack. I also really liked the Dust rules: they add uncertainty without slowing the game too much, and they force you to think less mechanically about range, movement and fire opportunities. Good scenario overall, but next time I start shooting earlier. Even in the dust.	cosarara
A Midnight Clear	This was part of a mini-tournament featuring night scenarios. Both of us bid for the Germans but Jamie's bid of 2 against my bid of 0 was enough for me to play the Americans. I chose substitution of a 9-2 leader for the 9-1 as the US balance. The Germans started by sending two squads and a leader up the right flank with the rest going through the middle along the road. The reinforcing group also went up the middle. The initial moves went well. Greg rolled a lot boxcars in this game and one the right flanking force was soon down a half squad and leader with the remaining squad disrupted. Where I went wrong was in having the 9-2 and two MG manning squads remain in the centre initially rather than head north east for the exits. I failed to appreciate that broken units could remain in situ when ADJACENT enemy units. The Germans managed to exit one crew and this put the onus on the Americans to get someone off. Basically, my guys failed every morale check that they took and this ensured that they came up short. There was a lot craziness though. At one point, Jamie failed 10 consecutive stars shell attempts and his morale checks weren't anything to write home about either. Fun game though. (VASL Log)	Dougban

The Time of Humiliations	We called it on turn 4 after the Japanese struggled to push through two banzai attacks attacking almost solely on board 38, avoiding the paddy fields. The Publications page has had a minor face-lift and I've amended the scenario recommendations to exclude scenarios recommended that have the same name as scenarios you've already played before.

Site updates!

There's some updates to the scenario pages and the "My Page" that help find fun scenarios to play, based on other player's recommendations.

On the scenario page, you can see other scenarios that have been rated highly, based upon user ratings who have rated the initial scenario highly. (It's all a bit complex but it does try to quell the problem of good, popular scenarios outranking lesser played scenarios that might have a higher correlation).

On your "My Page" I've updated the games played and the publications owned tables to be a little more useful, and made an effort to speed up the rendering of the page, too. There's also a scenario recommender on there that takes into account scenarios that you have rated highly, and the input of other players - and checking that you haven't already played that scenario before (no promises on scenarios that have been released multiple times though, currently!)
