Clearing Colleville	The first two turns featured wild dice, breaking a lot of American units but also malfunctioning both German MGs, even eliminating the HMG, which could only fire once. As usual with the Americans, they eventually rallied but the German reinforcements were already settled and scattered throughout the southern victory buildings. When the Americans had only a handful of German units to break, their time ran out. Maybe with one more turn they would've made it. A tidy defense and patience proved useful. (VASL Log)	mestravis

Testis Megalos	A tough fight await the both of us, with the Greeks mastering the art of shooting at the various defensive terrain, but not having the tenacity to follow up on their attacks to get into the dug-in Italian positions. There was a neat back and forth, plenty of snake eyes, and surprises (like wire in woods). Overall, I'm a little confused by what the L3/35 is supposed to provide (outside of a lucky overrun or two), similar to the Greek Gun. There are a limited number of spots where you can reach out and poke at the upper level building locations without much danger, but the need to move the gun, set up, and the Italians being able to just move away makes it feel rather pointless. Not a bad scenario, and I would suggest the Greek making 1 or 2 doom stacks and pushing up gradually. (And don't forget the +1 Broken Morale versus Italians!!!)	Jobbo_Fett

Hot Tigers	Basically a half board game, unless the Russians want to foolishly defend up front. So the first turn was quiet as the Germans approached. As he drew within range on Turn 2, I made a point of targeting his leaders, as infantry was what was going to win this game. I took out his 8-0 with my MMG nest. Meanwhile my bookend guns each immobilized a tank, and one crew paid the price with a boxcar MC. I figured if each gun could bring a tank to a standstill I'd win. His kill stack advanced up on the western hill and, between them and the expected smoke, I was booted from the beautiful J11/K12 defensive positions. Turn 3 saw me wound one of the 7-0s and bust up any infantry approaching another freshly revealed gun position. This gun then immobilized a tank at the bottom of the turn, the crew then diving into CC to eliminate the guards holding his brethren crew prisoner, valiantly dying in the process. Turn 4 was another bad turn for the Germans, running into yet another HIP gun trap. They busted up the assaulting infantry, then proceeded to immobilize yet another tank at the bottom of the turn. Down to only half their squads and tanks being good order, and having seen three more reinforcing Russian squads enter the VC area completely unopposed, the Germans decided to toss in the towel. I really thought this would be an easy German victory, but that is a lot of relatively open ground to cross for the German infantry to get to the goal. With DI being the only realistic way for the Russians to knock out those tanks, I would constantly keep them in motion if I were the attacker.	buser333

Unholy Trinity	Pakfront use was fun but I probably set-up too far forward since they were overrun mid-game but they did take out 3 AFV including the OP tank. Tank-hunter teams were completely unsuccessful but 80mm OBA caught large group of attackers out in the open.	Kydder

Egypt's Last Hope	British weren't able to bring down OBA to break up German raced across desert floor. Germans kept three tanks in overwatch HD behind the hillock to provide fire support, including SMOKE supported by mortars to cover rush to the massif.	jgarlic79@gmail.com
Decision at La Gleize	Very enjoyable HASL. Americans fell apart with a successful German night counterattack followed by successful early morning assault which basically bled Americans white and recaptured most of LVP previously gained.	jgarlic79@gmail.com
Blood for Poppies	The one surviving Archer and 6 pounders were the stars of the show, destroying all but one German tank and a number of PRC who attempted to flank the British. OBA ineffective for both sides with the German player particularly unlucky in the accuracy and correction rolls. Fun scenario but maybe tough on the Germans if they're not fast and careful!	Dave

A Counter Offensive Denied	Most one-sided game we've ever played, as my left-flank T-34 push found only his vehicle dummies opposing them. All the luck went my way, nothing went his way, and with half his AFVs gone and both flanks collapsing (and the Russian OBA still in play), he conceded rather than waste more time on it.	Gamer72

Retaking Vierville	First ASL game for the German player. The German troops assaulted the village cautiously, which meant that they didn't have good fire groups and had to pray for some 4+3 to be successful. On the other hand, the open ground to the North was well guarded, and the Americans could only reach the northern edge of the village on Turns 3 and 4. In the end, the Germans didn't have time or firepower to take any building. Conceded on German Turn 5.	mestravis

The Hunted	An interesting scenario that absolutely requires the errata. The defenders feel far too strong with 2 MMGs - my attack mainly focused on the eastern side, with the AC I generated putting down smoke to cover the advance. Which helped a little. German losses were as expected for the first 2 turns, and when some gutsy moves from the Belgians didn't pay off, as well as the Tank they received entering nearly surrounded by LMGs and the AC, things started taking a turn for the worse for the defenders. I would say that the positive to get this over an average rating of 5 is that it is quite small and fast to set up and play. As seen by the W/L record, however, its one to expect a potential lopsided victory.	Jobbo_Fett

Clearing Colleville	A German power stack (two squads, LMG, HMG, and 8-1 leader) setup isolated in P1. That, coupled with a lucky opening PFPh by the Americans, meant that the north part of the village was controlled by American Turn 1, and every German unit there was wiped by American Turn 2. The Army It Had	Very fun scenario that had lots of different options and paths to victory, though the Russians came up short.	dmareske
Stumbling in Place	Germans split their attack avoiding the open ground. Both wings of the attack got blunted while the Americans lost all four tanks. One Panther taken out by a BAZ and another malfed and repair-fail recalled. US infantry had too much FP for the Germans and in the end the CVP balance was too skewed in favor of the US. We both agreed that the Germans should pick one flank to attack with close armor support and then rush in the halftracks mid-games to unload and Hoover up building VPs.	pensatl1962
Aiding the Local Constabulary (3 player)	Troops in armory broke and ran away. Mmg/crew pinned in first turn and broke on second shot dead FTR. Lost 2 more squads to CC in turn 1. Italian cleared the entire village without losing any troops there. The only thing i was able to do successfully was kill a couple vehicles with the initial ATR.	nebel

Eight Million Bayonets	The scenario started with 6 of the 8 Italian AFVs being delayed until Turn 2, with half MP. A long string of 4's by the Greek (Guns) stymied any movement by the Italians to the first few Wooded sections and, by the start of Turn 3, the losses were great enough in men and materiel that we just called it a night. The 8 Million Bayonets were blunted, but this was in large part due to some very hot dice. Rated a 5 as a result.	Jobbo_Fett

Priority Target	This scenario offers a unique situation for SK players up til now (SK1-SK2) with Germans being able to enter from any edge. The Brit/ANZAC/Greek player has to possibly defend from all sides. The Germans need to keep moving and engage in CC while the Allies need to avoid this as they are likely to be outnumbered. While locking in Melee might help the Allies, in preventing Germans from capturing the guns; it will limit the much needed fire opportunities for them to protect the guns. In our game the dice were very swingy with turns 2 & 3 were good for Germans, not so for the British. But then turns 5 and 6 got pretty bad for the Germans and way better for the Brits. Failed PMC big time, German forces were down to 3 squad equivalent, half of which were about to be involved in cc and the other half were conscripts. 8 PF attempts resulted in 2 pinned units, 3 successful checks 2 of which blew up in my hands. Grand Hotel Britannia	British put a superb performance on ,..... kill stack dominated front of building, rear of rubbled.... germans hid and tried to die slowly, a thrown DC from second floor failed to break a single squad in a 3 stack, but blew the german thrower into pieces with a snake eyes crit...thing were bleak .. brits just methodically isolated then deleted squad after squad. but with just 1 squad left, brits rushed it into combat in last turn after both placed DC failed to rubble a ground floor, but got ambushed and jerry nimbly dodged out of combat to stay in good order and undeservedly win the game!	chubooga

Foiled at Frénouville	I played the defending Germans in this one. This scenario offers appealing OoB's for both sides. I set up quite heavily in the forward stone village with the thought of buying time in strong defensive terrain, which is "poisoned" by the Gully-Brush behind it and some terrain that makes it difficult to retreat from it. Much other terrain in between the forward and rear Victory Buildings do have their peculiarities to fall back across and to rally in. Setting up too far in the rear might offer the British the time they need. I felt not particularly sure about my defensive setup overall, which seemed to focus on the flanks forward and on the middle a little further back, with some units in the rear to guard against some Carrier breakthrough shenanigans. Having a look at the British OoB will tell you, that SMOKE making capability will be very important in this one - otherwise you'd not be given such a lot of it (and Elite status...). While the Sherman V's are fine for Smoke and against Infantry, they won't scare the German Jagdpanzer IVs. It is the Jagdpanzer's role to scare the British tanks - and to be scared by the two British Sherman VC's with their 76LL Guns. The game begun with the British generating two Heroes and Battle Hardening a 457 to a 458 on the approach to the stone village, where the British 9-2 was also present. The British 9-2 with two Heroes nearby seemed to be a terrible outlook, especially so early in the game. On the other hand, the British were very unlucky with Smoke: I think two of teh 51mm MTRs had none, nor did one of the Sherman V's. The only other Smoke a second Sherman V could bring to bear was that of its own Blaze after being a bit to brave and being punished by a lucky Panzerfaust hit for it. While the lack of Smoke stalled the British advance on the German right flank, in the stone village, the 9-2, the two Heroes and lots of firepower failed to have any effect, allowing the Germans more time of grace. In Turn 2, the Germans managed to kill 1.5 British squads in CC without taking losses themselves, which put them just in two spots where the British least wanted them. Basically, at the end of German Turn 2, the Germans stood firm in almost the exact same positions as during game start, with some of their rear units having approached towards the directions of British intended advances, and having deployed a few squads. Maybe somewhat early, my opponent conceded at the end of German Turn 2. However, with the notable exception of the two Heroes, his position was worse than at game start, while the German position had rather improved without yet having gained an inch of ground. Having only 5.5 Turns instead of the initial 7.5 Turns to meet his objectives, the remaining time seemed indeed to have become a very stark challenge.	von Marwitz
The Driven Draw Blood	We struggled to find how the British win this scenario. Defending Japanese/Burmese effectively delayed the British by orderly concession of upfront VC buildings. The turn 4 Japanese reinforcements are extremely strong. Because the British must defend so many VC buildings they are vulnerable to the inevitable Japanese counterattack(s). The Brit’s conceded after turn three (of 7) realizing that controlling the requisite buildings was highly unlikely.	Houlie

Rehearsal for Crete	Agree that the scenario is heavy tilted against the Allied forces. Some adjustment should be made to either either a) increasing the chaos of the paradrop (e.g. 2 of the 3.5 sticks must deviate) or b) reducing the amount of time the German Air Support remains on board. You can do the latter if you give the Germans an ATR or two. A combination of some of that might work. But it is an absolute blast to handle all the chaos that comes with the paradrops, and to see the small battles that develop across the huge playing area. I had one stick deviate to come down in the open on board 4 in front of a British 9-1 and HMG. Trying to get them to cover while also scrounging weapons was a deadly nightmare. And let's never forget the heroic efforts of British Lt. W. Anker in defense of the "Pomegranate Farm".	ubertripp
Burn Gurkha Burn!	Very good and exciting scenario. The Gurkha's started with a very forward defense. The Japanese were able to Banzai and take the north hill on turn 3. Game ended on the last CC.	slunts
Moreh Melee	Fun scenario but feels pro-Japanese. The Commonwealth troops are forced to set up dispersed and Eric's Japanese just swept them aside in the early going. The defence stiffened around the western buildings but the defenders had taken too many casualties to allow them to stem the Japanese charge.	Dougban
Clash at Borisovka	After an initial Russian push to gain some ground, the Germans moved in to hold theirs. The Russians guns quickly knocked out two PzIV's, but the German Tigers answered with knocking out one of the T-34s. The T-34's attempted to rush to cover their flanks, but were squeezed out by a Tiger supported by a PzIV which forced the T-34's to fall back and look for more favorable ground to cross. Unfortunately for the Russians, the Tigers made several solid shots knocking out two more Russian tanks. In a desperate attempt to change their fortunes, one T-34 rushed a PzIV to attempt a rear shot, but was immobilized and then wrecked by a Tiger on the hill. French Civil War in Gabon	There's just something about a scenario like this not having any smoke or means of protecting your advance into enemy lines. I had some luck with the Vichy AA gun, getting multiple crits against infantry, and my setup allowed for some LOS blindness to protect against the Free French mortar and MMG stack. Under different circumstances, the advance by the Free French could've enjoyed more success, but I'm not sure how much that changes the outcome...	Jobbo_Fett
Among the Ruins	Very enjoyable scenario which I'd like to revisit when my setup analysis gets better. The Germans setup all along the width and depth of the map. As expected, both 3rd-level locations were occupied by squads with HMG, MMG, and a negative leader. The gun was HIP in a rubbled important intersection, 20T1. I as American replied with a similar wide setup instead of concentrating my firepower and combined arms to try to overwhelm a front. That, together with moving my leaders forward instead of keeping some (or all) behind to help rally infantry, sealed my destiny. We called the game off at the end of Turn 6 when the Americans had only two Good Order squads, no leader, and a single tank with no functioning MA. Crushing American defeat, but I like this "old style", long and large scenarios and would recommend it for some urban fighting with combined arms and interesting setup decisions.	mestravis
Death's Head Debut	The 45Ls did a number on the tanks as they tried to move into the village. Quick shots, APCR and low TK rolls created a couple burning wrecks. The t-34s rumbled in and took care of the remaining infantry. I pretty much gave up the hill in favor of the village.	dmareske

Hart Attack	Fantastic scenario. Very back and forth with tons of exciting plays. I managed two overruns with my M3s on picket halfsquads that opened up my initial advace. LAte in the game, I successfully used a Gammon bomd to take out one of his tanks. I felt I was losing through the first 4 turns and then managed to turn things around. Oh, and melees abounded. Some dragged on for multiple turns, tying up precious units.	sushidog
No Safe Refuge	Even with the early gains, the main American group of forces where ground down to dust while trying to take S70 building without ever dislodging the Japanese from their Fortified locations. Once the outer VC buildings where instead being methodically pressed the Japanese Reinforcements constantly showing up in the rear became too much for the attackers to control.	Kydder
Welcome Back	Return match. The Americans concentrated most of their setup on the village towards the left. I as German didn't take advantage of that and also concentrated most of my forces there. But it's extremely tough to battle the Americans in several stone buildings with FTs, a MMG and their 10-2 leader. The right-hand front, with fewer defense units, was eventually neutralized but the Germans didn't have enough time to exit. Comfortable American win.	mestravis

Together We Will Raise This Flag	The Georgians weren’t exactly bold and left those poor cows in the meadow (perhaps that was a mistake, because it seems that, according to the rules, a cow charge is now more effective than an Armored Assault :) and took up defensive positions in Fauville. Supported by two Marders and the battalion’s OBA mortars, they hoped to muster 15 FP of firepower on the road—that’s just the PBF of two squads! They were to be aided by the battle-hardened men of the 1058th Luftlande, who were ordered to bypass the American positions at Sainte-Mère-Église and attack only south of the Roadblock. I decided this was the easiest and simplest way to win this tricky CG I. So the Germans ceded the initiative to Krause’s paratroopers, who, somewhat taken by surprise, cautiously began advancing toward Fauville. Despite the lack of any SW, the Americans’ firepower inflicted heavy casualties on the Georgians. Even with the ELR raised to 4, there were instances of shameful desertion and surrender. When American reinforcements arrived from the south, the game picked up pace. Unfortunately, the Shermans quickly dealt with my Marders; it seems the Georgians had also been neglected in their training to use Panzerfausts, and radio contact with OBA could not be established. By successfully employing white phosphorus and their advantage in close combat, the Americans methodically eliminated resistance points in the village along the main road. The arrival of the Luftlanders, who had been rushed in that afternoon, brought no improvement. They were held up and caught in an exchange of fire, which they were winning, but they were not advancing. Even before the gliders carrying the 319th Battalion landed, the Americans had eliminated all the Georgian defenders and captured Fauville. The wounded commanders and the few survivors took refuge in a grove to the east, unable and unwilling to fight. When the first gliders appeared in the sky, the Germans ceased fighting and retreated. The road to the beaches of Normandy remained in enemy hands. Mein Führer, how could I have failed you?! Summary: Great CG, worth replaying. Indeed, looking at the disparity in forces at the start, I still find it hard to believe that the Germans can’t meet the second VC. Adam, shall we play a second time?	Ireneusz

Guerra del Lampo	Messed up the Gun rules and gave the win to my opponent as a result. Its an odd scenario that, I think, is imbalanced in favor of the Italians. Optimal placement is required for the AA guns, as well as the Mortar - but the lack of concealment and the varied LOS that can be drawn really makes it tough to choose where to stand and fight. As a result, the Greeks must spread out to cover any opportunities to move past the line. This is also in conjunction with the Italians having 40 VP in vehicles starting on-board and able to get off the map whenever, and starting with 2 points for stone buildings, and earn CVP normally on top of that! The Italians need to avoid losses to their vehicles and try to grab prisoners against the Green Greeks.	Jobbo_Fett

The Badger's Breath	Friday Night Fight The early terrain makes this difficult for the Germans if the bottlenecks are defended well. My successes were along the northern edge where two of my STuGs punched through the wood along with half my troops. In the centre my forces met an impenetrable wall, although one squad and the 8-0 leader would eventually get through. Two STuGs malf'd their guns on their first shot, the other fell to the firefly when trying to speed over the hill road. A new publisher in the shop!

Le Franc Tireur have joined the ranks of third party publishers who will be selling digital packs on the shop.

Their first publication in English (and some French!), LFT #8, is now available via LFT #8's publication page and features both the 90+ page magazine and 10 scenarios, for $24.

LFT are trialling the service and if there's enough interest he will be adding many more publications, so if you can support them either through words of encouragement or by purchasing the pack, we have more digital content to look forward to!

Minor updates

The scenario page now has an Order of Battle editor to ease the pain of editing scenarios and slight update in the way scenarios are linked by name to scenarios in ROAR.

The Publications page has had a minor face-lift and I've amended the scenario recommendations to exclude scenarios recommended that have the same name as scenarios you've already played before.

Site updates!

There's some updates to the scenario pages and the "My Page" that help find fun scenarios to play, based on other player's recommendations.

On the scenario page, you can see other scenarios that have been rated highly, based upon user ratings who have rated the initial scenario highly. (It's all a bit complex but it does try to quell the problem of good, popular scenarios outranking lesser played scenarios that might have a higher correlation).

On your "My Page" I've updated the games played and the publications owned tables to be a little more useful, and made an effort to speed up the rendering of the page, too. There's also a scenario recommender on there that takes into account scenarios that you have rated highly, and the input of other players - and checking that you haven't already played that scenario before (no promises on scenarios that have been released multiple times though, currently!)
