Overview:

Anticipating an all-out assault by the Soviet First Byelorussian Front out of the Kustrin bridgehead, General Busse's Ninth Army pulled back on the eve of the attack, and the Soviet's massive pre-assault artillery effort fell on empty positions. The Ninth Army had dug in atop the Seelow Heights, blocking the main Kustrin-Berlin road, and from there, inflicted terrrible punishment on the attacking Russians. The Soviet advance was first slowed, then halted, by the stiff German resistance. The Russians attempted a series of savage flank attacks in hopes of shattering the Seelow Line. The I 12th Rifle Regiment was at the fore of one such flank attack.
Attacker: Russian (112th Rifle Regiment, 57th Infantry Division, 8th Guards Army/44th Field Regiment)
Defender: German (20th Panzergrenadier Division/697th Grenadier Regiment)

2022-04-20(A) Dave Mareske vs Craig Renier Russian winAttacked hard on the left flank which kept the German AT gun out of the game. Two Low Ammo CRs hurt the German defense along with some effective HMG fire and ROF from the Russians. The German HMG never got a shot off, eventually captured. The last ditch effort to protect the left flank with the German reinforcements met with disaster with all the half squads broken and the 9-2 leader pinned.
