Overview:

To the south of Borodino, the SS Das Reich was committed to several actions aimed at breaking the Soviet lines in order to rush towards the east. The Der Fuhrer Regiment, fighting on the southern flank of the Division, had regrouped and was to seize the village of Yudinki, whose forward defense consisted of some of the finest Russian youth - the Lenin Cadets.

2025-04-09(A) Andrea Noia vs Andrea Manzoli German (SS) win3 hrsGreat Scenario - very useful to build tactical experience. Use your Assault engineers to cross with smoke, deploy hard and run as a German. I was lucky to break the defence in the open on the south part of the map. Forest is great for defence but the russian player (IMHO) should avoid at all costs to make the german come from the open ground. Very fun scenario with FT and DC !

2024-10-22(D) M T vs V.K. Russian winVery good and intense infantry-only scenario. Our game could have gone either way, decided only on the last CCPh roll.
2024-10-16(D) Jeff B vs Scott Sherer German (SS) win6 hrsDespite me having a wall of bodies in his way, Scott came on mostly through the northern woods. I like 8ML vs 8ML scenarios, and this is one such game. Turn 2 saw first contact after I failed to extract a batch of my HIP units, and he was able to get the better of them in CC after they bungled their advantage. The rest of my troops just pulled back to their next line of defense, and I really thought this was going to be a boring body block scenario (especially with a commissar backing me up). He exposed a few dummies and captured my MMG on Turn 3, but I was able to eliminate his sniper (a constant worry to my exposed commissar in the rear). Turn 4 saw him make some inroads in the south as a couple HS crossed the hedgerow with only my mortar-bearing crew to hold them off. The rest of my men, once again, continued their steady fallback defense. Turn 5 saw me start to run out of room to retreat, and he was able to sneak a squad into my backfield with some more aggressive movement. Turn 6 saw him take his 6th building, with another easily obtainable in Turn 7, and it would all come down to my defense of the unoccupied H5. A couple units were broken in their attempt to take it, but he survived a 2-2 shot with a HS to secure it and the victory. A pretty nice, simple scenario that is obviously well suited for tourney play.
2024-10-02(A) Scott Sherer vs Jeff B Russian winStraight-forward but very fun scenario.

The game past night was J103 Lenin's Sons, against Scott. I had, you guessed it, the Russians. I did not pick the Russians once. Three times out of four we rolled for sides, and one time my opponent asked if he could play the Germans. I am on holidays this week, and the games were at my house, so I could set up the scenario (taking the time to read all of the SSRs and victory conditions) and think about my setup, particularly the placement of the two half squads and the hero HIP. Scott attacked aggressively down the south edge, with some forces coming down the right. The hero and a half squad popped up in U1 on the first turn, and engaged three squads for most of the game, securing the north flank. The other half squad hid in T5 as hundreds of heavily armed SS troops rushed by. I revealed it later when two broken desperate squads stopped their rout in S6. Despite this interference Scott pushed on, and by the last turn had captured four of the victory buildings. I had fallen back to my last defence line, but it was very solid. Scott had no choice but to charge into a wall of fire and residual. Squad after squad broke, and in the end he had very little. He conceded before the advancing fire phase, but I pointed out that he could still obtain victory, so we played on. His advancing fire broke the only MMC in one building, allowing his 9-2 to advance in to close combat my commissar. The fanatic SS leader ambushed, and sent the commissar on his way. Unfortunately leaders cannot take possession of buildings by themselves. A half squad got into I3, but could not kill the contents. A CX squad got into D5, and was locked in melee. A wounded hero went CX to get into F3 against my squad and 8-1 leader, was ambushed, and killed.
