Overview:

The British launched Operation Bluecoat on the morning of July 30. The main objective was to secure the flank for Operation Cobra, the U.S. attack to break through German lines, and to tie down panzer forces. The British plan was to attack along a German Corps boundary, thus splitting the seam, where only the tired 326th Division was defending. The objective of the 9th Cameronians was the village of Sept-Vents on the extreme flank. They were reinforced with infantry tank support from the 4th Tank Grenadier Guards, 6th Tank Brigade.
Attacker: British (Reinforced elements B Co, 9th Cameronians, 227th Highland Brigade, 15th Scottish Division)
Defender: German (Elements 326th Infantry Division)
