Overview:
The Japanese launched an attack on the morning of 27 July to compel Chinese forces to withdraw from the Peking area. Zheng Dazhang’s Cavalry counterattacked to push the Japanese back north. As the cavalry forces maneuvered it was spotted by aircraft and artillery observers. The fire decimated the Chinese and the cavalrymen were forced to go to ground and establish a hasty defense. At first light of the 28th, the Japanese 1st Mixed Brigade enveloped the Chinese forces in an effort to destroy them. The Chinese were not going to concede, and counterattacked with armor from the 29th Corps to halt the Japanese advance. The Japanese attacked aggressively with infantry and tanks, including a platoon of flamethrower-equipped engineer vehicles.Attacker: Japanese (Elements of 1st Independent Mixed Brigade)

2024-03-07 | (A) Simon Staniforth | vs | Craig Benn | Chinese win | I got to c50 CVP but with all my AFVs out the game by then it proved a step too far to secure enough for the win. I perhaps attacked too aggressively early, rather I should have waited to have both the initial and reinforcement forces consolidated together and then gone hard at the Chinese. An enjoyable full day scenario
2023-10-07 | (A) Jobbo Fett | vs | RootinPutin | Japanese win | The Chinese defense was set further back from the Japanese entries, in the hopes that any advances would be slow through the grain and disrupted in the open ground. The vehicles were able to move up unmolested, thanks to the Guns all being set up in the rear to watch the exit area. This gave the flamethrowing engineer's vehicles the freedom to burn down a sizeable group of infantry, with the artillery helping where they could. Unfortunately, I couldn't get my artillery to last into the end-game when lots of infantry/units were bunched up in woods hexes. A daring banzai charge against the 37L AT gun allowed me to neutralize its capabilities. By the start of turn 5, the left flank had been completely opened up, and the various Guns had no line of sight to prevent the remaining FT AFV from roaming free and preventing the Chinese troops from plugging gaps and preventing exit, and the game was called early as a result. Worth a play, for the engineering vehicles at the very least.
2022-06-24 | (D) Simon Staniforth | vs | Gerard Burton | Chinese win | A friendly game at the Double One tourney we took a roll for sides and I got the Chinese setting up wholly in B17 with the concealed guns broadly set back and defending the exit area. Luck was with the Chinese in the infantry fighting and also 2 of the deadly FT tanks were knocked out the game relatively early. The third managed to take out 2 OT AFVs in the same fire phase as I made an error in having them Stopped next to each other, kudos to my opponent for that move. However when it made a run for the exit area to suppress the 37L ATG (which had survived an artillery stonk despite being in OG) it was KOd by that Gun and my opponent conceded it being clear that the IJA could not now achieve the required CVP / EVP
