Overview:

As the veteran troops of the Japanese 5th Infantry Division pushed down the Malay peninsula, the 11th Indian Division opposing it was forced to amalgamate several units from the battered 6th Brigade into the 15th Brigade, creating the composite “British” and “Jat/Punjab” battalions. The 16th Brigade spent a week digging in astride the Trunk Road north of the tin-mining center of Kampar. As the Japanese neared the Kampar position, the IJA 41st Regiment attacked down the road on January 1st, but despite initial success, it was beaten back with heavy losses. The next morning, the 41st renewed its assault.

2021-05-20(A) wayne baumber vs Graham Smith British winEven with the extra balance of a 447 squad, a -1 leader and an extra 1/2 turn this scenario still favours the Commonwealth player. In fact my opponent called it an unbalanced dog of a scenario and he won! The problem is that you have to split the Japanese attackers into 2 groups and getting the balance right is tricky. I did clear the northeast t ridge line by the end of GT4 but even with the extra half turn those forces will struggle to get to the south ridge in time to assist their comrades. Still I enjoyed my Banzai charge which overwhelmed part of his defence line. Difficult scenario to balance IMHO.

2017-07-12(A) Ron Garcia vs Darryl M. British win
2015-07-22(D) Jason Wert vs Randy Rossi Japanese winWe used the balance from the GS Forums from Mr. Fortenberry and had a blast. Long scenario but great fun. Randy kept coming and overwhelmed me on last turn Banzai.
