Overview:

On 5 July, Panzer Division 19 fought against the 228th Rifle Regiment, 78th Guards Rifle Division, smashing its 3rd Battalion and penetrating into the second echelon defenses. Early on the morning of 6 July, Panzer Division 19 opened the attack with an artillery preparation. The 73rd Panzergrenadier Regiment, commanded by COL Koehler, was reinforced with Battalion I, Grenadier Regiment 429. Kampfgruppe Koehler continued to fight the 228th Rifle Regiment, orienting towards Dalni Peski. The Germans broke these defenses during the fighting. The 27th Panzer Regiment penetrated to the east, while the reinforced 73rd Panzergrenadier Regiment redirected its attack to the northwest. This caused them to hit the flank of the 81st Guards Rifle Division.

2023-03-03(A) Simon Staniforth vs David BlackwoodA Russian winThe Russians chose the M7 stone factory as their Alamo. This contains 9 Locations, had the wire, the Gun, some minefields. The Germans came up just short. Neither mortar got any Smoke - with the Mild Breeze in this scenario this can significantly help screen your approach against the HMG etc. so that was a big loss
2023-03-03(A) Richard Webb vs Andy Bagley Russian winBrilliant scenario. Lots of options on attack and defense. Iis a tricky balancing act for both sides as the VC force both side to spread out, but to reform of one final battle . it came down to a last turn focused on the large stone building (M7) with both Marders driving into the factory to try , but couldn't quite maneuver enough Germans in for all the 4 CCs required.
2023-03-03(D) Andy Bagley vs Richard Webb Russian winAn epic scenario, with large forces and 8 turns - took us all day. It all came down in the end to the stone factory M7, and knowing this I deliberately defended the others lightly, aiming to pull back as many forces as possible to this last redoubt. This was only partially successful, as the Germans got some good sight lines to prevent my withdrawal. The game felt like two stages: firstly the capture of the other factories, then the final assault on this factory. By the time we reached stage 2, I didn't have as many defenders as I had hoped and thought I might be losing, but the Germans had become a bit disorganised and weren't able to form large 'kill stack' fire groups. In the end he couldn't get enough units into the building to CC my remaining defenders on the last turn, although it would have been odds-against even if he had.
2023-02-23(A) Simon Staniforth vs Ian Ainsworth German winA hard fought game won in the final German half turn. As the Russians what / how do you defend the various VC buildings? As the the Germans how to split your forces to take all the objectives? Assuming you take the two forward VC buildings within the first few turns, thereafter failure of one attack for the two VC buildings towards the rear will see a loss. That stone factory with 9 Locations is a real challenge but just did enough. Great fun would happily play again as either side
2021-06-12(A) Will Willow vs Jeff Waldon Russian winDecided on the last die roll in CC.
