Overview:
Army Group Center plowed into Russian-held Poland and soon found out that the Russians fought nothing like the French or many others they had faced before. The toughest resistance was in towns held in regiment strength by units that had been told to hold at all cost until ordered to move. But because of the lack of communications, orders never came. And so the Soviets stood their ground and died in place.
