2022-02-19(D) Dan Best vs Kermit Mullins Dave Mareske German / Romanian win
2022-02-19(A) Dave Mareske vs Dan Best, Scott Mullins German / Romanian winHeavy SMOKE made way for a quick German advance, but the Romanians got pinned down by some mortar fire and the 10-2 being killed by the Russian sniper before he even moved. Lost the FT on the first shot and a DC rolled a 12 trying to take out a WIRE. The Naval OBA destroyed the 75 ART but was inaccurate the rest of the game. Turn 2 brought a slower advance with the Germans moving slowing allowing their armor to catch up and the Romanians trying to regroup. The Russians came on the west edge giving the reinforcements to the Romanians. By Turn 3 the Germans secured the first hill but were broken and had to retreat to regroup. The Romanian mortar was a thorn in the Russian side the whole game, getting ROF several times and scoring one CH and avoiding the NOBA with a little luck. The axis sniper was able to kill the Russian 9-1 leader and break a couple of squads by the end of Turn 3. By turn 4 it was a race for hill locations and in the end the Germans had the edge getting 10 to the Romanian 7. Good game, but very hard on the Russians to defend the hill. Setting up a reverse slope defense in some places might have been better.
