Overview:

The Muda unit, comprised of the 1st and 3rd Battalions of the 13th Infantry Regiment was tasked with capturing Hill 260 and its observation posts as part of the major (and unrealistic) Japanese counterattack to drive the Allies into the sea. As G Company of the 182nd Infantry Regiment returned from patrol to its defensive positions around the “OP Tree” and advanced up the west slope of South Knob on Hill 260, it ran into Japanese troops attacking from the east, southeast, and south. The enemy threatened to encircle his position on South Knob, driving E Company off the hill. There was almost no way to strengthen their position. Despite the heroic defense of a pillbox by a six-man group of artillery observers, the foothold on South Knob was lost. E and G Companies were moved from South Knob to North Knob. B Company was sent forward to assist them in breaking contact with the Japanese.

2020-03-03(D) Jeff B vs Kevin Russell American win3.25 hrsA pretty hokey little scenario. Americans have to run from their little corner of the map to assist their friends in the PB up on the hill. There's nothing the Japanese can do to stop them from getting up there. Japanese come onboard and most likely should just try and sandwich the Americans and use their 6 morale against them. Our game played like a dead radio station...all static. His mortar did some damage to anybody that tried to get on the hill and reinforce the PB. That was about the only action however. We twiddled our thumbs for 5 Turns until he tried a massive banzai on his last move. With one surviving HS he managed to take the PB. I had to recapture it on my last turn. Thanks to some crappy Japanese rolls and the presence of my 8-1 I managed to assemble a complete force to assault it. But I wouldn't be able to enter it unless I won an ambush. Thankfully I had one concealed HS left to advance up in the shellholes I wisely placed on the PB hill. Despite his being CX I managed to win the ambush, kill him, and ambush withdraw in for the win. This one was a complete dice fest and waste of time.
