Overview:

The fight for Mézière-sous-Ballon started the Normandy campaign for the French 2ème Division Blindée. With the U.S. 15th Army Corps, it was part of the southern move to encircle the Germans in the Falaise Cauldron. On the 10th of August 1944, the first elements of Groupe Minjonnet met a strong and well-concealed German force from the just arrived 9.Panzer-Division in the woods and bocage near the hamlet of les Sablons just before arriving in Mézière-sous-Ballon.
Attacker: Free French (Elements of 4ème Escadron, 12ème Régiment de Chasseurs d’Afrique with 3ème Section, 7ème Compagnie, 2ème Régiment de Marche du Tchad, 2ème Division Blindée)
Defender: German (Elements of 2.Kompanie, Panzer-Regiment.33 and elements of 3.Kompanie, Panzer-Pionier-Abteilung.86, 9.Panzer-Division)

Clarification: Either you make a breakthrough with a sizeable force and the losses are not very important or you make a mre cautious advance that can be called a victory only if it doesn't cost you to much losses. So, the CVP cap is only for the building control VC.Lionel Colin on Gamesquad

2024-06-22(D) Jon Jaramillo vs Dan Plachta German winThis one was over very quickly as I defeated the team of Plachta and Dave Nicolas on the German turn 2. They immediately drove into two of my boresighted hexes on Turn 1 and two AFVs were down immediately. I got another one in my Prep and should have gotten a fourth with my IF shot but I botched the TK roll with a 10 when anything below a 9 would have worked. I got a HT loaded with passengers and burned it. After I had exhausted my fire, they drove one of their tanks up adjacent to mine and parked. Another one immobilized trying to get two more MP with ESB. I popped out my HIP squad from behind the first one, got a PF and burned the 5th AFV and then I pulled another PF out and nailed the immobilized AFV with it. They determined that at that point they were over the VP cap and called it a day. Fun scenario and I'll take a win against these two any day, but I think they were just a little too aggressive with their movement.
2021-02-01(A) Maurizio Mai vs Steve Worrel German winFree French did count too much on AFVs firepower and was punished by very effective Gun shots and PFs.
2020-11-07(A) Rich Weiley vs Dave Wilson German winNovember Paddington Bearz - Poor plan of attack, which was basically frontal assault on the village was not helped when my opponent's first two shots were critical hits to flame a gyro armed Sherman and one of the halftracks, fortunately after it had unloaded its passengers. At lunch about an hour later I realised the second shot wasn't legal as the tank in question should have been subject to CA restrictions (C5.11) as it was in woods and changed its CA to take the second shot. C'est la guerre as my Free French may have said. Things didn't improve after lunch, I lost another Sherman to the second Pz IV as I pushed to eliminate a German squad for failure to rout. At about the same time the M5A1 (stunned by an MMG shot) and M5(MMG) immobilized after failing its mechanical reliability roll while attempting a drive by on what proved to be a dummy stack were revealed to be in the CA of the just revealed ATG. Two more blaze counters were extracted from the counter tray and a quick calculation determined I was at 29 CVP. Next fire phase after a Sherman disabled its MA trying to take out the second Pz IV on an intensive fire shot I decided to cut my losses and get the early bus home. I'd like to give this one another go as I really didn't get full value from the tools available to the French and committing so early to one VC makes it much easier for the Germans to respond.
