Overview:

As the Japanese advance began, reports came from British Intelligence units known as V Force n the Burmese border. The Japanese were said to be advancing in strength, but few IV Corps Intelligence Officers believed it., so front line units were not immediately alerted. Major John Fuller's Company, 152nd Indian Parachute Battalion, 50th Parachute Brigade was in the path of one of the Japanese columns. Fuller was ordered to hold his position to give the Brigade time to consolidate. C Company was surrounded by III Battalion, 58th Regiment but held out for several days. Major Fuller had several times requested relief to extract his force from Point 7378. One attempt to reach them was made by A Company of the 4/5 Mahrattas. The Mahrattas came upon a roadblock, stoutly defended in force.
