Overview:

After two months of heavy fighting in and around Shanghai, the Chinese Army was forced to retreat to the south bank of Suzhou Creek. Covering the retreat was the 524th Regiment of the Chinese 88th Division led by Lt.-Col. Hsieh Chin-yuan. The regiment held its positions around the Four-Bank Warehouse -- a reinforced-concrete warehouse owned by four commercial banks. In the middle of the burning Zhabei district, soldiers of the 524th prepared to write their own heroic destiny as thy faced the advancing Japanese Shanghai Expeditionary Army.

2020-08-16(A) wayne baumber vs Joel Chinese winToo tough for the Japanese IMO without the balance.
2020-01-22(A) Paul Schorfheide vs Rich Trippeer Chinese winEnded up surrounding all 3 fortified locations but just couldn't get in there.
2019-06-08(A) Shane Pask vs Chinese winChinese filled the factory with most of their squads. I found out that a couple of MG nests were outside as my two top leaders failed 1MC in different attacks and died on turn 2. Almost ready to admit defeat while still outside the factory on turn 5 but once inside luck changed and the Chinese withered. Japanese won 2/3 CC on last turn but the lost one gave Chinese the victory.
2018-12-26(A) Martí Cabré vs Txema Mainez Chinese winDuplicate of 145.
2018-10-28(D) Doug McMullen vs Steve Steinmetz Chinese winA great scenario. The perfect first PTO scenario to try out the Japanese. All infantry and no jungle terrain -- but so interesting you don't mind the lack of toys.

A few notes:

1. The scenario seems to play with a slight Chinese edge. The scenario-suggested balance to help the Japanese is awful IMO (I've played this three times now) It's much too heavy and ruins the scenario. Instead, in this latest playing I took the Chinese but for balance I took no OB granted dummies. A light balance. Steve's Japanese had the game won but couldn't roll a 10 or less on the final CC -- and I squeaked out a victory. That seems pretty balanced!

2. Chinese player should note that Kindling is NOT NA. Creative kindling should be a part of the defender's arsenal (*arson*al?)

3. As a first PTO this is often played by newer players -- if that applies to you, be sure to review the rule book for the Factory rules -- these are easy to overlook but are crucial to the scenario being played correctly.
