2022-12-28 | (D) Kevin Duval | vs | Dwayne Duval | | German (SS) win | | Used German balance. AA Gun went on a murderous tear. All Russians AFVs eventually taken out with combination of AA, 75LL, and the best was a HS Conscript being over-run took out one with PF. No Russians made it across the canal, conceded in Turn 4. |

2020-11-15 | (D) Scott Fischbein | vs | Ralph Garringer | | German (SS) win | | We got off to a blazing start with the first shot of the game - snake eyes for Ralph on his only available prep fire shot, KIA-ing a squad and breaking a couple more who were ready to run across the bridge. He followed up with another solid shot, but after that his luck ran out and mine picked up, and by turn 4 I had destroyed all but one of his tanks and he had broken units scattered everywhere and not enough leaders to rally them, so he conceded. Round One of the North Texas Shootout (2020 virtual edition). Enjoyed a fun game against a new opponent. |
2020-11-10 | (D) Paul Works | vs | Dan Best | | German (SS) win | | Germans set up strongly in/around the factory. the Panther placed behind the wall in front. I placed the Pz IV inside the factory. I used several 5/8" concealment counters to try to deceive Dan on the Pz IV's location. I place a platoon of infantry and the HT beside the central bridge to scoot across to defend the buildings on the far side of the canal. Dan attacked strongly in the middle with his T-34s all on my right. My Panther slipped across the factory's yard to the other side and took out two of the T-34s. My Pz IV got another T-34 as it attempted to flank my Panther. I rotated my infantry from the factory to the wall in front and kept his infantry off balance. Dan's IS-2s moved in from my left and his infantry were able to break most of my troops along the wall. An IS-2 took out my Panther, but one PF shot immobilized that IS-2 and another PF shot crit-hit (ouch) the other IS-2 and brewed it up (64-26=28 To Kill....). At this point, Dan conceded. The Sniper-create-Partisan SSR only resulted in two units created during the scenario. |

2020-09-08 | (A) John Gorkowski | vs | John Staddick | | German (SS) win | | Lost this brawl to John Stadick. His Germans centered their defense on the 23Y7 factory just south of the canal. Most of his infantry and the Panzer IV lined up behind the factory’s perimeter wall. The Panther sat snug just north of the canal, behind the 23X1 hedgerow. The 88 Flak hid in the 23EE5 woods where the canal widens to a lake.
Most of my Russian infantry and three T-34/85s started around 22M5, the woods on my left flank. The heavy machine gun, however, watched over the battlefield from the second floor of 22F5 with a line of sight straight down 23BB5 bridge. That prevented Germans from crossing the eastern bridge and enabled me to nibble at the south side of the 23Y7 factory.
I opened by driving my tanks to the vicinity of 23U10 just south west of the German main force. Along the way some blew smoke. The 9-1 armor leader led is T-34/85 forward and stopped to fire during the movement phase killing the hull down Panzer IV at 23X8! My infantry came up behind with no losses and got the flamethrower to 23X10. My sniper took out his halftrack as it tried to cross the canal at 23X3. But the German infantry squad alongside did make it across the canal to defend the northern buildings. The Germans skulked back from the factory’s perimeter wall.
On turn two the Russians pressed to 23W7, took the surrounding wooden buildings, and threatened to enter the 23Y7 factory at X6/X7 while both sides traded small arms fire. The Russian flame thrower fizzled and broke on its first shot at the factory from 23Y10. The Germans skulked into the factory.
On turn three, a T-34/85 smashed into the factory at 23X7 and Russian infantry followed. The German 9-1 and his medium machine gun in 23Z6 clobbered Ivan, but the Russians held on. The IS 2s rolled on around 23R8. Fearing a hidden 88 Flak in the U3 woods north of the canal, they stopped around 23U7 and engaged the Panther at 23X1.
All hell broke loose over the next two turns. An IS 2 bracketed the Panther as its rounds bounced off the Russian giant. A platoon of Russian submachine gunners stormed the northwest corner of the factory at 23X6. A T-34/85 rushed over the canal at the 23X3 bridge leaving smoke in its wake. The hidden 88 Flak fired from EE5, but missed. Then came two critical mistakes. My other IS 2 followed the bridge-crossing T-34/85 and thereby revealed its flank to the German Panzerschrek in 23Y6. That tube fired and killed the IS 2! A few Russian squads took advantage of the mayhem to also cross the 23X3 bridge; in hindsight, they should have further pressed the 23Y7 factory.
I divided my force in the face of the enemy and paid for it. The 23Y7 factory held on as the Russians sputtered out trying to capture two buildings at once. My IS 2 killed the Panther and rolled forward to trade shots with the 88 Flak which by then had killed the Russian infantry north of the canal. So, the Germans won without losing a single building.

2020-06-16 | (D) Matias Dahlbäck | vs | Vilis Pavulans | | Russian / Partisan win | | I can't AFV. |
2020-06-16 | (A) Vilis Pavulans | vs | Matias Dahlbäck | | Russian / Partisan win | | A frontal defence made the initial approach hard but after missing to spot a LOS and not moving the Panther, a shot to the side made it a wreck. That made the germans tremble a bit and suddenly quick flanking maneuvres tied the german down. Then by sacrificing a T34 a few russian squads managed to get over the bridge ahead of the russians and the two buildings were captured. The boxcars on the first roll of the 88 also made the game a bit easier for the russian heroes. |
2020-05-19 | (D) David Ramsey | vs | Martin Barker | | German (SS) win | | As featured on IR 20 (and VASL log attached, below).
I had the Germans with the balance and the game couldn't have been closer. This scenario is genuinely one of the best scenarios I've played - the randomness of the partisans adds just enough spice to keep the Germans on their toes, and although it's dicey as to how much of an impact the tank battles are superb, and the IS-2s are just beasts. In this game we had 2 PFs bounce off them, we had a malfunctioning DC, and the whole thing came down to a thoroughly mismatched 5:1 CC that I somehow survived. |
2020-02-28 | (D) Stefan Fiedler | vs | Lars-Peter | | German (SS) win | | My opponent made a setup mistake by setting up his (non panther) tank so that I could kill it in my first prep. Placed the HMG and a s in 22 F6 effectively hindering forces on the flank to retreat over the canal or to the other vc building. Pushed hard on my left flank and managed to close in onto the factor in T3, Nailed his tiger on a sneaky LOS from adjacent the factory. As I entered the factory partisans beamed in behind his line in the church/factory stopping routs. In T3 late the sniper broke most of teh defenses behind the canal and at T4 Lars gave up. Played in the first round of ASL Scandinavian open 2020 |

2014-09-10 | (A) Jeff T | vs | Jerry W. | | German (SS) win | | This one came right down to the wire. Jerry pulled it out holding a corner of the church/factory and a back building. I got into both but couldn't win both CC. Great scenario, would play again. |
2014-08-20 | (D) Jeff T | vs | Jerry W. | | Russian / Partisan win | | Fun game, I malf'd the 88 on the first roll and Jerry played a solid attack. His partisans never got on the German side of things, but the steady flow of half-squads helped. Fun scenario. |
2014-07-23 | (D) Andy Beaton | vs | Martí Cabré | | Russian / Partisan win | | |
2014-07-23 | (A) Martí Cabré | vs | Andy Beaton | | Russian / Partisan win | | Andy miscalculated the potential Russian attack and placed the German units too exposed. I was able to wreck his two tanks in turn one and his 88 in turn three, with all the Germans locked in the factory and plenty of space for the Russians to cross the canal, so he conceded. |

2013-05-11 | (D) Vic Lauterbach | vs | MA | | Russian / Partisan win | | Great scenario, both sides must maneuver - CVP totals: Germans 47, Russians 41, but Russians took buildings 23Y7 and 23CC2 for the victory in the final turn! |
2013-04-27 | (A) Luke Sineath | vs | Jason Burnette | | Russian / Partisan win | | Awesome scenario |
2012-12-31 | (A) Richard Carter | vs | Tom Sharpe | | German (SS) win | | I did not play well in this one and lost most of my tanks early. I could not get across the canal at the end. Tom was excellent at conserving his forces and retreating out of my LOS. He started up front, did a bunch of damage and then was able to retreat across the canal. I was not able to interdict his retreat and then did not have enough left to get across the bridges.
