Overview:

Early in 1943, the Prinz Eugen Division was called upon to subdue a growing partisan presence in Yugoslavia. Tito's "People's Liberation Army" occupied much of western Bosnia, and Prinz Eugen-engaging in its first major combat—was tasked with eliminating partisan activity in the region under the code name "Operation White". In the Grmec Mountains, the Prinz Eugen troops deployed in the deep snow to attack the Partisan 7th Banija Division at Bosanki Petrovac. The Germans hoped to fix the partisans in place, and capture the majority of the enemy force, at the same time gaining shelter from the winter's cold in the primitive dwellings of Bosanki Petrovac.
