Overview:
For most of the 100th Nisei Battalion (Japanese-American/Hawaiian National Guard) first weeks in Italy were spent following up the rapidly retreating German army (on its way back to defensive positions behind the Rapido River) as a part of the 143rd Reg / 34th Inf Div. On the morning of Sept 19, B-Company would take the lead. After several hours in the hot sun, B-Company would come face to face with their first real encounter with the enemy.Attacker: American (B Company, 100th Battalion, 143rd Regiment, 34th Infantry Division)
