Overview:

Concentrating on the AA positions, the Luftwaffe hammered the airfield at Maleme. The New Zealand and Australian troops there heavily fired upon the descending gliders carrying the 3rd Company under Lt. von Plessen. The AA guns survived to trouble the planned landing of transports at the airfield. At 0715, the first glider reached ground and the enemy came out firing.
Attacker: German (Abteilung von Plessen, 1st Sturm Regiment)
Defender: Commonwealth (C Company, 22nd Battalion, 5th NZ Brigade and 156th AA Battery)

2024-10-01(A) Robert Wiebe vs WARRStew German win

(VASL Log)
3.5 hrsPerfect game with VASLing with Stew. I landed most of the gliders next to the wire fence and breaches and could land pretty well unscathed except for my HMG and HS which bought it in a crash. Back and forth, including a very dicey combat in the NE gunpit that saw the Fallschirmjaeger hang on by a thread, before attacking while CXd in CC. If that flank had fallen than a real collapse could have ensued. Leader Creation for the Germans was way too good, with three leaders (2x8-1, 1 x 8-0) and a Heroic HoB in the course of 5.5 turns. Stew tried to push the last AA gun out of range, but his crew was clipped with a hail-mary shot.

Rob had a problem with his Log file on YT. So, I uploaded mine.
2021-08-05(D) nathan wegener vs James Treu Commonwealth winGood intro scenario for gliders and the pack.
2017-03-17(A) Rich Weiley vs Dave Longworth Commonwealth winAchieved a good landing and overwhelmed two of the AA guns. Failed to get the third when I was unable to clear its hex in CC and capture the gun.
2016-08-28(D) Gordon Jupp vs Paco Mainez Commonwealth winPlayed the scenario twice...On first Paco landed all the gliders close to the airfield perimeter wire and got cut to pieces...setup again an replayed with gliders all setting down in the riverbed...This worked better. The German 81mm then got a ch on one of the 40mm to take it out. Game to an fro with both remaining 40mm guns malf in the same fire phase! Both then managed to repair but the Germans were able to overwhelm the defenders for the win. Interesting but not my favourite type of scenario, the defender has little option but to sit and shoot....
