Overview:
In February 1945 it was decided to form a tank battalion from men and materials at the Wehrmacht Weapons Testing Ground at Kummersdorf. Among the Panzers were one Tiger I, four Tiger IIs and an example of the fearsome Jagdtiger. After some reshuffling, the battalion was integrated into the forming Panzer-Division Muncheberg, which made the division one of the few formations on the eastern front scheduled to be equipped with the Jagdtiger. The desperate situation soon gave the not yet fully formed division a place in the front line protecting the Autobahn to Berlin and the only supply route to the Kustrin bridgehead. An infantry battalion took positions between Genschmar to Bleyen. Backing the infantry at Golzow were the division's Tigers. In the early morning hours of 22 March a major Russian effort to sever the Kustrin corridor went into action.Attacker: Russian (Elements of 89th Heavy Tank Regiment and 295th Rifle Division, 32nd Rifle Corps and elements of 220th Tank Brigade)
