Overview:
On 19 August 1944, the Küstenjäger Kompanie got the order to reconnoiter the isles of Saria, Skarpanro, Stakida, Umia/Unja-Nisis, Kamilioni, Zaphrani, Syrina, Kandelousia and Perogousa. Any enemy troops were to be driven off the isles. Most of the islands were free of Allied units, but on one, the German patrols had a windfall. On 26 August, an unknown vessel, although heavily camouflaged, was discovered. After a short firefight the boat was boarded and the crew captured. The vessel turned out to be the Harbor Defense Motor Launch 1381 with 14 soldiers of the Special Boat Squadron (SBS) on board.
