Overview:

As the 12th Army wheeled its way north under overcast skies to join the 9th Army in encircling the Ruhr, they drew upon the 3rd Armored Division to lead the way. A task force built around a medium tank battalion which included a few of the new Pershing tanks was to spearhead the advance. As Task Force Richardson moved toward its objective at Paderborn 60 miles away, it encountered little opposition more serious than an occasional roadblock and liberated champagne until it finally hit a defensive line drawn up by SS training units only six miles from their objective.
Attacker: American (Task Force Richardson, 3rd Armored Division)

2017-05-13(A) Michael Dorosh vs Colin Emerson American winPart I was supposed to be a walkover for the U.S. Colin set up a good roadblock position, scattered forces to try and cover all approaches. Managed to breeze through with only 1.5 squads being lost and ended on Turn 6. Heavy rain began falling early on. Part II was a wild one. Rain stopped and started several times in the first 3 turns. German AA gun malfed on the first shot, and a PSK X'ed out on its first shot. Got established in the town easily and though both Shermans, both M10s and a Pershing fell, the US managed to knock out both Panthers by the 5th turn of Part II. Finished with four turns to spare; German conceded with only a 75mm ATG and a squad left in the village. Hot dice for the U.S. Part I, US avg DR 6.48 vs 6.82, and in Pt II 6.49 vs 7.09. Not sure how well balanced this is, if playing, handicap by giving the weaker player the US and the burden of attack. Not sure the published Balance would help much, more HIP not necessarily a help.
2017-05-13(D) Colin Emerson vs Michael Dorosh American winThis was essentially a 2 part slaughter fest for the Americans. Part 1 is described as a speed bump....you are expected to lose. It's more of a rumble strip or thick paint on the highway. 5 squads vs 18. 1 armored car plus backtrack vs 5 US late war AFV including 2 Pershings. Prepare to be destroyed.
Part 2 isn't much better in terms of force balance.
6 squads vs the balance of US (16.5 squads). You do that 2 Panthers but they will be busy enough dealing with the Pershings to be any help to your infantry. Your AT gun may never fire a round if the Tanks come from the right side of town.
Very few playings recorded.
