Overview:
The Princess Patricia’s Light Infantry launched their attack on Villa Rogatti at midnight on 5-6 December. The plan called for each of the four companies and HQ, under cover of darkness, to cross the Moro River, one at a time, and make their way up a narrow wooded gully, attacking Villa Rogatti from the southeast. Intelligence reports identified the village to be heavily defended by Panzer Grenadiers dug into slit trenches in the surrounding orchards and vineyards, and lodged in buildings – heavily fortified into bunkers.
